The Amorphous Androgynous & Peter Hammill/We Persuade
Ourselves We Are Immortal ....import CD $19.99
The Amorphous Androgynous & Peter Hammill/We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal ....import Vinyl LP $39.99
The Amorphous Androgynous return with symphonic 40 minute progtronic space rock concept album We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal in 5 epic parts. Featuring Peter Hammill on vocals alongside a host of musicians including Paul Weller (piano and guitar), Ray Fenwick (lead guitar), Brian Hopper on sax, and many others including the 50 piece Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir and a 25 piece sumptuously recorded live orchestral string section. Opening with the 13 minute epic space prog rock of title track We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal (written with Peter Hammill and Paul Weller) the themes of mortality and immortality are then musically and conceptually catapulted to the far flung corners of the AA sonic multiverse over 40+ minutes utilizing choir, moog, a live orchestral string section, harp and vintage synth all fed against a backdrop of classic rock and psych samplerdelia of the Amorphous Androgynous. Space Odyssey like dystopian choirs and moog of Hymortality crash full force into the Led Zep Bonham-like drums of the Immortality Break while Synthony on a Theme of Mortality lives up to its name as an almost Vangelis Bladerunner-esque vintage synthony of some of the themes of the original track utilizing the classic '70s Yamaha CS80 synth before triumphantly soaring to lift off adrift a Pink Floyd-like female wailing aria against classic vintage guitar rock. Psych Recap is all backwards voices and guitars over pounding Tomorrow Never Knows-era Beatles bass and drums with dislocated Peter Hammill psychedelic vocals before the whole cosmic trip cascades finally into the harp daydream reverie and minimoog space landings, choir and french romantic strings of Physically I'm Here, Mentally Far, Far Away.

In their imperial years of the 1970s, Tangerine Dream's live concerts were an electronic exploration, improvised and different every night, with little or no relationship to their smash hit albums, which were similarly esoteric. As the 1980s dawned, their recorded work contained more recognizable themes and they scored some of the biggest films of the decade (Risky Business, Firestarter, Near Dark, Thief, Sorcerer).

Various Artists/Kraut!: Die Innovativen Jahre Des Krautrock 1968-1979 Teil 4 ....import 2 CD Set $29.99
Progressive rock from Germany! Never before has there been a comparable compilation! Towards the end of the 1960s German bands began their first attempts to emancipate themselves stylistically from their US and British role models. Prog rock and pchychedelia from our country were initially smiled at internationally and disparagingly called 'Krautrock' by cult DeeJay John Peel, among others. Unorthodox formations could not be pigeonholed, and so a scene with a wide musical range was created. The fourth and final part is dedicated to the West Berlin scene of the day and presents popular bands such as Ash Ra Tempel, Lokomotive Kreuzberg, Agitation Free, Dissidenten, Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream alongside e.g. Karthago, Mythos, Emtidi, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Cluster, Harmonia, or Os Mundi. Mostly remastered from digital tape copies by Marcus Heumann without wasting the original sound. Compiled and commented on 100(!) pages by Burghard Rausch (DeeJay, vinyl collector, drummer, radio presenter/author and book editor). With 'Kraut! Die innovativen Jahre des Krautrock 1968-1979' we released a double CD every three months in 2020 with a booklet of about 100 pages and biographies of each band, an exquisite selection of the exciting and influential bands of those days, some of which caused a sensation far beyond Germany. The four editions are regionally structured. This fourth part deals with West Berlin. All editions are compiled by Burghard Rausch and commented on in detail (in German language). With the release of the fourth and final issue, Bear Family marks the last milestone on the way to a comprehensive documentation of the history of popular music in Germany from the early 1960s to the mid-1980s. 2-CD (trifold DigiSleeve) with 100-page booklet, 17 tracks. Total playing time approx. 150 minutes.

Jon Anderson/Song of Seven [Remastered & Expanded Edition] ....import CD $19.99
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a new re-mastered and expanded edition of the 1980 solo album by Jon Anderson, Song of Seven. The album was recorded during Jon's first hiatus from Yes, with whom he had become an internationally known vocalist and songwriter and followed on from his 1976 solo album Olias of Sunhillow. Working with keyboard player Ronnie Leahy, Anderson created an optimistic album of varying influences and he gathered together a fine ensemble of musicians to assist him such as celebrated bass players Jack Bruce and John Giblin, guitarists Clem Clempson and Ian Bairnson, saxophonist Johnny Dankworth and percussionists Morris Pert and Simon Phillips. Song of Seven was a UK top forty hit upon its release by Atlantic Records in November 1980 and spawned a solo tour which established Jon Anderson as a regarded artist in his own right. This Esoteric Recordings edition has been newly remastered from the original Atlantic Records master tapes and is expanded to include two rare US single edits previously unreleased on CD and restores the original album artwork in a digipak. The booklet also features a new essay with an exclusive interview with Jon Anderson.

Gryphon/Get Out Of My Fathers Car! [180gm Vinyl] ....import Vinyl LP $47.99
Gryphon/Get Out Of My Father's Car! (SHM-CD) (Paper Sleeve) ....Japanese import $49.99
2020's Get Out of My Father's Car! is the seventh studio album from the legendary Gryphon. Original members Graeme Taylor, Brian Gulland and Dave Oberle are joined by virtuoso Andy Findon on clarinets, saxes and flutes, plus two new members, Rob Levy on bass guitar and Clare Taylor on violin and keyboards. All three new members have contributed compositions to Get Out of My Father's Car and the range of styles on the album is unprecedented in the history of this most eccentric of bands. It is almost impossible to pigeonhole Gryphon, recently reformed nearly 40 years after a very successful spell throughout the 1970s, which included extensive touring in the States and Europe with Yes, Steeleye Span and Mahavishnu Orchestra. They even appeared on BBC Radios 1, 2, 3 and 4, all in the same week! Gryphon stunned their faithful following four decades later in 2018 when they released their sixth studio album, ReInvention, to huge acclaim. Anyone who thought this was an isolated flash of brilliance now has another think coming as we announce a further brand-new release which proves to be every bit as unfathomably innovative and exciting. Continuing to display fine humour, it defies repetition in favour of seemingly constant streams of reinvention, perhaps even surpassing its predecessor in its richness.

Harmonia/Complete Works ....5 CD Box Set $44.99
Groenland present the definitive Harmonia box set collecting their groundbreaking debut, 'Musik von Harmonia' (1974), along with 'Deluxe' (1975), 'Live 1974,' their Harmonia & Eno '76 album 'Tracks and Traces,' and the previously unreleased 'Documents 1975' a collection of early live performances. The short-lived syzygy, extant from 1973 to 1976 and revolving three members - Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius of Cluster with Neu!'s Michael Rother - were responsible for a gentle but pivotal phase shift in German experimental music, and also on a wider scale within the world of new pop, rock and electronic music, thanks to the praise of David Bowie and Brian Eno - the latter of whom would join them for 'Tracks and Traces' as Harmonia & Eno '76. Their history remains one of the most storied of electronic music; a group of imaginative, innovative German composers seeking to make a new music guided by nature and the stars, accompanied by one of the greatest producers of their generation, Conny Plank, and all at an idyllic location in the countryside of Forst, Lower Saxony, next to the Weser River. From these lush conditions they vibed out, working with an arsenal of "mobile" recording gear (depicted in the accompanying booklet) to realize some of the most beautiful and influential records of the '70s, from the shimmering ambience of 'Musik Von...' thru the "pop" tone of 'Deluxe,' along the motorik trajectories of their 'Documents 1975' recordings, and back to space music with Eno in '76.
Various Artists/Cafe Exil: New Adventures in European Music 1972-1980 ....import CD $17.99
When David Bowie and Iggy Pop relocated from LA to continental Europe, taking trains to Berlin, Paris and Warsaw, they would have come across new music that was very different to the burgeoning disco scene they left behind. "Cafe Exil" - named after one of Bowie's favourite Berlin haunts - imagines the soundtrack that would have informed "Low," "Heroes" and "Lodger." It's an awesome mix of electronica, Krautrock and experimental treats. There are key tracks from members of Can and Tangerine Dream, fascinating obscurities by German act Streetmark and Italian library maestro Piero Umiliani, the Herzog-soundtracking Popul Vuh, and highly collectible avant-strangeness by Annette Peacock. Czech-born Jan Hammer's beautiful, light, atmospheric groove is among myriad surprises. Also Rubba, Focus, Amon Duul II, Steve Hillage, Faust, Michael Rother, Toni Esposito, Brian Eno, Soft Machine, Cortex and Cluster. "Cafe Exil" has been put together by Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley and Jason Wood, author of multiple books on cinema and programmer at Home in Manchester. It fits in with other recent Ace compilations such as "English Weather" and "76 In The Shade" - it creates a mood, a time and a place. You're right there, sat next to Bowie, drinking his Pernod and black, in a darkly lit Berlin bar.

Jimi Hendrix Experience/Live in Maui [With Blu-ray, 150 Gram Vinyl, Download Insert] ....3 Vinyl LP + Blu-Ray Set $55.99
Experience Hendrix announces a brand new collection that couples the brand new feature length documentary Music, Money, Madness... Jimi Hendrix in Maui with the accompanying live performances on both audio and video. The film chronicles the Jimi Hendrix Experience's storied visit to Maui, their performance on the dormant lower crater of Haleakala volcano on the island and how the band became ensnared with the ill-fated Rainbow Bridge movie produced by their controversial manager Michael Jeffery. Directed by John McDermott and produced by Janie Hendrix, George Scott and McDermott, the documentary incorporates never before released original footage and new interviews with firsthand participants and key players such as Billy Cox, Eddie Kramer, Warner Bros. executives and several Rainbow Bridge cast members, as well as it's director Chuck Wein. The Blu-ray will include the full documentary as well as the 16mm color film shot of the two afternoon performances captured on July 30, 1970 mixed in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. Also included in the package will be Live in Maui - both of the aforementioned sets spread across 2 CDs, newly restored and mixed by longtime Jimi Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer, and mastered by Bernie Grundman. The two sets finds The Experience - Hendrix, Billy Cox on bass, Mitch Mitchell on drums - at the height of it's powers playing flawlessly against a stunning natural backdrop. Included are breathtaking renditions of crowd favorites like "Foxey Lady, " "Purple Haze" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return), " as well as then-unreleased songs like "Dolly Dagger" and "Freedom" that showcased the new direction Hendrix was moving toward.

Iron Butterfly/Unconscious Power - An Anthology 1967-1971 [Remastered] ....import 7 CD Box Set $59.99
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of Unconcious Power - An Anthology 1967 - 1971, a newly remastered 7 CD boxed set featuring all of the albums and singles recorded by the legendary American acid / progressive rock band Iron Butterfly recorded for Atlantic's Atco label between 1967 and 1971 and additional recordings made at the Fillmore East in New York City in April 1968. Iron Butterfly first came together in San Diego, California in 1966 with a line-up of Doug Ingle (vocals, organ), Danny Weis (guitar), Greg Willis (bass), Jack Pinney (drums) and Darryl DeLoach (vocals). After performing in the San Diego area the band relocated to Los Angeles in search of a recording contract, with Willis soon departing to be replaced by Jerry Penrod on bass. Jack Pinney also departed and was eventually replaced by Ron Bushy. The band's psychedelic and acid rock style was honed during regular appearances at LA venues such as the Whisky a Go Go and the Galaxy Club, which saw Iron Butterfly develop a loyal following and led to the band signing with Atlantic's Atco label in 1967. In October that year the band recorded their debut album, Heavy, but the group would endure further line-up changes prior to its release as Jerry Penrod, Danny Weis and Darryl DeLoach departed soon after recording sessions were completed. Faced with the possibility of the album remaining unreleased, Ingle and Bushy recruited 17 year old guitarist Erik Brann and bassist Lee Dorman to the band. Heavy was released in January 1968, entering the US Billboard charts and eventually earning gold disc status. The album In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, issued in June 1968, would break the band into star status. Dominated by the side long title track featuring the instrumental dexterity of the new line-up, it was a masterpiece of acid rock and reached a height of number 4 in the US charts and went on to sell a million copies. An edited version of the title track was issued as a single and reached the US top thirty. The band's third album, Ball, was released in January 1969 and was even more successful, reaching number 3 in the US and spawning the hit singles Soul Experience and In the Time of Our Lives. The band undertook a punishing touring schedule and a series on concerts were recorded in May 1969, finally to be issued as Live in April 1970. Erik Brann departed the band in December 1969 and was replaced by guitarist and vocalist Mike Pinera and additional guitarist Larry Reinhardt. This line-up would record the album Metamorphosis in May 1970 which saw the band take a heavier direction. The dominant track on the record was the excellent thirteen minute Butterfly Bleu which saw one of the earliest uses of a "talk box" on a guitar solo. Following a tour with Yes in early 1971, Doug Ingle announced his departure from the band. After releasing a final single, Silly Sally in April 1971, Iron Butterfly disbanded. Although they would reform in the mid-1970s and continue to perform and record sporadically afterwards, their recorded work for Atco Records remains their main legacy. Unconcious Power - An Anthology 1967 - 1971 features all of the albums issued on Atco, all newly re-mastered from the original master tapes, and additionally includes the rare mono mixes of the albums Heavy and Live, (the only true separate mono mixes of their albums), both previously unreleased on CD, along with two CDs of recordings made at the Fillmore East in New York City on the 26th and 27th April 1968. It also includes all of the band's US non-album singles and single edits and a lavishly illustrated booklet with a new essay featuring interviews with Ron Bushy and Mike Pinera and a poster.
Blue Oyster Cult/Live '83 ....CD $19.99
By special arrangement with Blue Oyster Cult and its management, Real Gone Music presents, for the first time on CD, the band's complete July 24, 1983 concert at Perkins Palace in Pasadena, CA. Originally recorded for radio broadcast, this was long regarded as one of the best-sounding BOC bootlegs, and now it is finally coming out on authorized physical form, complete with liner notes by Scott Schinder and rare photos. Further confirmation that Donald 'Buck Dharma' Roeser is one of America's great, unsung guitar heroes (don't miss the 10-minute, concert-closing version of "Roadhouse Blues")!
The Grateful Dead/Road Trips Vol. 2 No. 4 Cal Expo '93 ....2 CD Set $41.99
The Cal Expo Amphitheatre at the State Fairgrounds in Sacramento became one of the homes-away-from-home (but not too far away from home!) for the Grateful Dead during their later years, and they always played well there, inspired perhaps by the good old-fashioned (and increasingly rare) General Admission policy towards seating coupled with a grassy infield for dancing. So, when the Dead settled in for a three-night run from May 25-27 in 1993, anticipation was high... but what occurred exceeded even the wildest expectations of the most devout Dead Head. Simply put, the second set of the May 26 show - captured here in its entirety - is considered by many as the absolute high point of the Vince Welnick edition of the band, as the always welcome set opener "Box of Rain" leads into a magical medley of "Victim or the Crime"/"Crazy Fingers"/"Playing in the Band"/"Rhythm Devils"/"Corrina"/"Playing in the Band"/"China Doll"/"Around and Around" that summons up that halcyon '70s spirit. What's more, this 2-CD set, which also features excerpts from the 5/26/93 first set and the next day's show, has some extra surprises in store: the 5/26/93 encore "Liberty" makes its first appearances on a live Dead release, as does the aforementioned "Corrina." With notes by Blair Jackson and full-color photos from the gig, this Road Trip is as good as it got during the last few miles of the long strange trip, and it's remastered in HDCD sound by Jeffrey Norman.
The Residents/Beautiful Eyes ....CD $19.99
Beautiful Eyes was a compilation album that was released on July 16th 2010 via the Robot Selling Device. The album is focused on "beautiful but cold" pieces of music from throughout the group's history. It includes pieces of music unavailable elsewhere like "Available Piece" which is an extended instrumental segment from the group's 1978 album Not Available which has not been released elsewhere.
The Residents/Anganok ....CD $19.99
Anganok was a mini opera written with San Francisco artist, Spoonman, in 1991. The opera was performed only a few times and was not recorded. However, the instrumental track and an early rehearsal with Spoonman's vocals exist. The instrumental track had been pilfered for other uses (such as incidental music for the Uncle Willie companion CD), and an excerpt of the instrumental track was included as part of the fourth disc of Our Tired, Our Poor, Our Huddled Masses. In 2009 both the full instrumental track and the rehearsal recording were released as digital downloads. This is the first CD release of this work.
Crack the Sky/Tribes ....CD $17.99
In 1976 Rolling Stone called prog-rock pioneers Crack the Sky "one of year's most impressive debuts." Named by Rolling Stone in their 2015 list of 50 Greatest Prog Rock Albums of All Time and in Twenty 1970's Albums Rolling Stone Loved that You Never Heard, the magazine's review likened Crack The Sky to Steely Dan, 10cc, the Tubes, and said writer/lead singer/guitarist/keyboardist John Palumbo avoids conventional melodies, preferring to repeat a tuneful phrase and then abruptly break the mood he's established with something nearly opposite in spirit. "Crack The Sky's ensemble singing and playing are impeccable. Palumbo's lead vocals are chameleonlike, resembling Ian Hunter's and Bowie's." Today, 40+ years later, the band releases a new studio album entitled Tribes, due out early 2021. The title track speaks volumes about modern society's perpetual cultural divide, wherein each side believes its inalienable right to champion the only opinion that matters.
Grumblewood/Stories of Strangers ....import CD $21.99
Released on Robin Armstrong's Gravity Dream label, Grumblewood's debut album Stories of Strangers features eight fabulous tales of fortune and fable, that musicially fuse folk, jazz, baroque, and (a lot of) rock. Recorded, mixed and mastered entirely in analogue, this a charming album that evokes the golden era of progressive music. CD in digifile with 12-page booklet.
Multi Story/CBF10 ....import CD $22.99
Multi Story formed in the early 1980s. CBF10 is Multi Story's latest studio album and features some special guests. Some of the songs have drawn juice from the band's rockier veins yet the album still demonstrates those symphonic touches that Multi Story do so well. CBF10 is not a concept album but there are subtle threads and connections across the songs that listeners may spot... and, anyway, what is CBF10? This release comes in a digipak with 24 page booklet.
SBB/Pamiec ....import CD $17.99
SBB/Memento Z Banalnym Tryptykiem ....import CD $17.99
SBB is a Polish progressive rock band formed in 1971 in Siemianowice, Upper Silesia. It consisted of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Jozef Skrzek, a young guitar player Apostolis Anthimos, the drummer Jerzy Piotrowski and sound engineer Grzegorz Maniecki. It was one of the most popular super-groups in Poland and Europe in the 1970s. The band was among the forerunners of progressive rock and jazz-rock and attracted many influential jazz musicians, who often performed with the band. The trumpeter Andrzej Przybielski and the saxophonist & bass clarinetist Tomasz Szukalski developed a long lasting relation with SBB. Pamiec was their third album originally released in 1976. Memento Z Banalnym Tryptykiem was released in 1981.

Liner notes by celebrated jazz critic, broadcaster and saxophonist Dave Gelly MBE. Barbara Thompson MBE is a virtuoso saxophonist, composer and bandleader whose career has spanned five decades. Despite her battle with Parkinson's Disease, Barbara's vast career has seen her perform, compose and lead on many projects including The New Jazz Orchestra, The United Jazz & Rock Ensemble, Jubiaba, Paraphernalia, Andrew Lloyd-Webber productions and Colosseum. She is considered a pioneering composer for the saxophone and was part of a luxuriant crop of new jazz composers in the 1960s: Mike Westbrook, Neil Ardley, Graham Collier, Mike Taylor, Michael Garrick and several more. Within a few years, Barbara would be among the most eminent of them, and by far the most prolific. This previously hidden treasure trove of Barbara Thompson recordings amounts to 14 CDs containing complete radio programmes recorded and broadcast by the BBC over a period of 21 years. Many come from Barbara's own tapes, preserved by her husband, legendary drummer Jon Hiseman, in their archive at Temple Music, while others have been gathered from private collections across Britain and Europe. The material ranges from a live concert by the New Jazz Orchestra, introduced by Humphrey Lyttelton, in February 1969 to a set by Paraphernalia, featuring Jon Hiseman and keyboard player Peter Lemer, dating from June 1990. Along the way are such rarities as: a set of compositions by Mike Taylor, broadcast in 1969 as a tribute following his then-recent death; Improvisations for Octet and Strings (1970); Five Movements for Jazz Ensemble (1971), conducted by Neil Ardley and introduced by Ian Carr; several broadcasts from the mid-1970s by Jubiaba; and many sets by Paraphernalia in it's various forms including a complete concert broadcast live from Holland Park, mastered to the highest level, with extensive liner notes by celebrated jazz critic, broadcaster and saxophonist Dave Gelly MBE.
Sun Ra/Egypt 1971 ....4 CD Set $29.99
Like countless others, the young Alabamian prodigy Herman Blount (later reborn as Sun Ra) had been awed and beguiled by the archaeological discoveries of the early 20th Century around the Nile delta that, once again, thrust ancient Egyptian history and culture into the popular consciousness of the day. Music was Blount's first and abiding passion but, as a young man, he was also a voracious reader, spending hours in the Magic City's libraries, poring over tomes documenting world history, Egyptology, poetry and numerous other subjects.

Trees/Trees ....4 CD Set $47.99
Trees/Trees ....4 Vinyl LP Set $89.99
It's now over fifty years since Trees' formation and, although 'acid folk' has now become a sub-category in the lexicon of record dealers and music critics, and although founder member David Costa feels the original noughties reissue helped consolidate a gathering wave of curiosity, they themselves remain in the shadows. Earth's new Trees collection brings together both albums adding shiny alternate mixes of key tracks along with a selection of radio sessions and demos, all sounding brighter and cleaner than ever before. Trees first album, 'The Garden of Jane Delawney' (1970) snuggles nicely into contemporary nu-folkies' idea of the genre, and shares some of the pastoral-whimsy that characterised The Incredible String Band or Donovan, offset by some stunning interpretations of traditional material and Bias' own songs, which were somehow part of the tradition Trees had adopted. Readings of 'Lady Margaret,' 'Glasgerion' and the old standard 'She Moved thro' the Fair,' and the extended fade of the group's own 'Road,' presage the explosive instrumental duelling that would come to characterize the follow-up album, 'On the Shore.' There's a definite shift between the records, the second being darker and more ambivalent. Here Trees don't tell you what to think. You're left to formulate your own response to this odd, opaque music. The 'Streets of Derry' session version leans into the brain vibrating drone-groove they somehow found at the traditional tune's centre. 'Polly on the Shore,' another traditional tune, is one of the definitive moments of English folk-rock.

Allman Brothers Band/Final Note ....CD $14.99
Live archive release containing the Allman Brothers Band's last show with founder and guitarist Duane Allman. Recorded October 17, 1971 at the Painters Mill Music Fair in Owings Mills, MD, the recording marks Duane's last show, as he was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident 12 days later. Recorded on a hand-held cassette machine by 18-year-old radio journalist Sam Idas. The Allman Brothers Band were riding a wave of great success in late 1971 and wrapped up an intense summer of touring with the two shows at Painters Mill that day. The July 1971 release of their breakthrough At Fillmore East live album had brought them critical acclaim, hordes of new fans, and even a little money. The band - Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Jaimoe, Butch Trucks and Berry Oakley - had toured all summer long and were looking forward to some time off before heading back to the studio.
The Allman Brothers Band/Warner Theatre Erie Pa 7-19-05 ....2 CD Set $22.99
Two CDs. Live archive release. Long hailed as one of their best ever by the band members themselves, fans now have the opportunity to experience this spectacular show for themselves. The line-up-Gregg Allman on vocals and keyboards, drummers Jaimoe and Butch Trucks, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks on guitars, Oteil Burbridge on bass and percussionist Marc Quinones-had been together since 2001 and had established a groove, both on and off the stage.
Jon Anderson/1000 Hands [Chapter One] ....CD $15.99
1000 Hands: Chapter One is the fifteenth studio album by English singer-songwriter and musician Jon Anderson. The album originates from sessions for a project to have been called Uzlot (a northern English pronunciation of "us lot") that Anderson had been recording in Big Bear, California, with Brian Chatton in around 1990. Chatton wrote most of the music, played keyboards and also sang. Anderson asked his then Yes bandmates Chris Squire and Alan White to play on the project too. At the time, Yes were preparing for a tour and Anderson put the master tapes in his garage and, as he has recounted, gave them very little thought for many years. In 2016, producer Michael Franklin contacted Anderson about using the tapes and finishing an album. Further recordings followed at Solar Studios in Orlando, Florida. Along with some newly written material, the final result is 1000 Hands. As the album title suggests, the album was created with a number of guest performers, including Steve Howe, Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain, Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice, Rick Derringer, the Tower of Power horn section, violinists Jean-Luc Ponty, Jerry Goodman and Robby Steinhardt of Kansas, Chick Corea, Larry Coryell, Stuart Hamm, Billy Cobham and many more!
Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe/Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe ....import CD $14.99
Politics aside, this album is basically Yes, but without Chris Squire. The music is incredibly complex and the lyrics as spacey as any Yes album ever. Tony Levin fills in on bass, playing his Chapman Stick and electric upright bass with Bill Bruford on full electronic-drums and sounding very much King Crimson-esque. Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman, both melodic as ever with Jon Anderson in a fine voice here and obviously having the most fun of all. Highlights; "Fist of Fire," a steady rock groove with exceptional keyboard work from Rick Wakeman, "Brother of Mine," a very catchy ten minute tune in three parts, the Carribean/Latin flavored "Teakbois," and the stadium-rocker "Order of the Universe." The magic of '70s prog-rock complete with a Roger Dean cover!
Anekdoten/A Time of Day ....import CD $14.99
A Time of Day is the 2017 fifth album from the Swedish progressive rock band Anekdoten. Recorded at Rommaro studio in the Swedish archipelago in the November 2006, the band was aiming for more complex and richer song writing than before. Most of the songs were demoed and arranged well before the recording session which used vintage organs and synths to expand the sounds. The late Gunnar Bergsten, famous for playing on Bo Hansson's 'Lord of the Rings' album, played flute on '30 Pieces,' musically considered one the highlights in Anekdoten's career. The band had to mix the album in a studio they were not used to and were never happy with the overall sound. Main man Nicklas Barker says, "We have re-mastered it twice (in 2007 and 2012), but still not with the result we wanted. With this mastering by Hans Fredriksson in January 2020 we finally feel that the greatness of this album revealed." This CD re-issue contains 5 bonus tracks of demos recorded more-or-less live in the spring of 2006 at Anekdoten's studio Sisu Sound. 'In for a Ride,' 'King Oblivion' and 'Stardust and Sand' were lost for many years but found on a hard drive by Nicklas while cleaning out a closet in 2019, then he restored and mixed them in November 2019. The demos for 'Prince of the Ocean' and '30 Pieces' were previously released on the Kscope compilation 'Chapters.' Nicklas believes some of the demos outclass the studio versions.

Re Imaginos sees Albert revisiting the 1988 Blue Oyster Cult album Imaginos, which was originally intended as his solo album. Cotatcha Orchestra/Bigbandova Elektronika ....CD $15.99
Fresh from Big Round Records comes the Cotatcha Orchestra's Bigbandova Elektronika/Bigband Electonics. As it's name suggests, this unprecedented album pairs original big band music with electronic music, concocting a sound-and perhaps even a brand new genre-that listeners have never heard before. Cotatcha Orchestra was the brainchild of trumpeter Jiri Kotaca. His founding mission was simple: play unusual and original big band music. From this seed grew the sound we hear today, a fascinating mix of jazz, Czech music, and electronic music. Rather than reaching for cheap novelty, however, Kotaca saw big band and electronic music as a natural combination. The latter element strengthens the band's music, expands their emotive range, and carries them into the modern era. The names and themes of the compositions are not run-of-the-mill, either; Sardanapalm, for example, combines the name of the last Assyrian king with the explosive agent napalm, positing a thoughtful yet apolitical observation of the west's involvement with the Middle East. The music is at once familiar and profoundly ethereal, combining muted jazz trumpet with an array of electronic sounds. Billy's Pilgrimage is a musical interpretation of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five, focusing on the main character, Billy. Piano and rhythmic elements, along with the airy, jazz-steeped voice of guest soloist Lenka Dusilova, form an interpretive soundtrack for Billy's story. And, of course, there's Very Old Lady Driving a Ferrari-a lighthearted musical imagining of an elderly speed-lover taking a summer drive in a sports car. Electric piano, drums, electronics, and an interjecting horn section put the listener firmly in the driver's seat for this exhilarating ride.

Culpeper's Orchard/Mountain Music - The Polydor Recordings 1970-1973 [Remastered & Expanded Edition] ....import 2 CD Set $23.99
Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a new re-mastered 2 CD set by legendary cult Danish progressive rock band Culpeper's Orchard, "Mountain Music - The Polydor Recordings 1971 - 1973." The band formed in Copenhagen in 1970 with an original line-up of Cy Nicklin (vocals, guitar), Niels Henriksen (lead guitar, piano), Michael Friis (bass, organ, flute) and Rodger Barker (drums, percussion). Englishman Nicklin had been living in Denmark since 1963 and had also recorded with Sandy Denny and the Strawbs whilst that act had been based in Copenhagen. In 1968 he had been a founder member of another legendary Danish band, Day of Phoenix, but had departed to form his own band with Danes Henriksen and Friis and English drummer Rodger Barker. Culpeper's Orchard signed to Polydor Records in Denmark and issued their self-titled debut album in March 1971. The album was a fine example of psychedelic, progressive rock, drawing on a myriad of diverse influences from rock, folk and the US West Coast bands of the time. The album gained a release throughout much of Europe and has subsequently earned it's place as a legendary psychedelic progressive album with original vinyl copies changing hands for three figure sums. Following this successful debut, the band recorded the album "Second Sight" in 1972, with drummer Ken Gudman (formerly with The Savage Rose) replacing Rodger Barker. The album was an equally fine work and took in more US West Coast acoustic influences as well as retaining a rock edge. Culpeper's Orchard performed regularly in Scandinavia on bills with many major artists, but the band's line-up would change once more by the time of their third and final album for Polydor, "Going for a Song," recorded in the autumn of 1972. Neils Henricksen departed and was replaced by Neils Vangkilde on guitar. Nils Tuxen was also recruited on pedal steel guitar and British drummer Tom McEwan replaced Ken Gudman. The album took in more influences from artists such as Crosby, Stills and Nash and earned critical praise but wasn't the wider breakthrough the band had hoped for. It would be the band's final album for Polydor records. A hiatus followed live performances the following year (which included an appearance at the Ragnarock Festival in Norway alongside acts such as the Pretty Things and Mungo Jerry). The band would record a final album in a different stylistic vein three years later, but their albums for Polydor, and in particular their debut, are those for which Culpeper's Orchard are most fondly remembered. Miles Davis/The Complete Concert 1964 ....import 2 CD Set $20.99
This recording is one of the best jazz recordings of all time and also some of Miles's best trumpet work. He exhibits great tone, range, technique and improvisation. Miles is so intense on this whole recording, nailing passage after passage. As Miles mentioned in his book, they completely tore the roof off of the place. A great supporting group as well, George Coleman on tenor saxophone, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams on drums. The interplay between Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and the uncanny Tony Williams is just breath-taking and hints very clearly at the new directions in which they and Miles would take the small jazz ensemble for the next several years.

Djabe with Steve Hackett/The Magic Stag ....import CD + DVD Set $24.99
Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of the new studio album by Hungarian band Djabe, "The Magic Stag." Djabe is one of the finest progressive / jazz fusion bands working in the world today. They are also known to a wider audience outside of their native land thanks to a series of collaborative albums and live appearances with the legendary solo musician and ex-Genesis member Steve Hackett. Djabe features Tamas Barabas (bass guitar), Attila Egerhazi (acoustic and electric guitar, percussion), Aron Koos-Hutas (flugelhorn, trumpet), Janos Nagy (keyboards) and Peter Kaszas (drums, lead vocal) and their music contains influences from progressive rock, jazz and world music. Their new album is inspired by the work of the painter, Imre Egerhazi (father of Attila Egerhazi). By the new millennium Imre Egerhazi was regarded as one of the Alfold's leading masters. He had gained great recognition in Hungary and beyond it's borders for his art and his organizational work in the world of art. He also did much for artistic communities and colleagues. His work and life inspired the musicians to create "The Magic Stag." Steve Hackett not only co-wrote the lyrics of the album's title track with his wife Jo Hackett, but he also plays guitar on seven of the album tracks and acts as narrator. The album also features guest Rob Townsend on tenor saxophone (also from Steve Hackett's band). Tar genius Malik Mansurov also plays on several tracks, whilst former Djabe members, Ferenc Muck and Tibor Karvaly also contribute. Laszlo Szabo also adds his magical sitar playing to the album. "The Magic Stag," is a celebration of the legend of the mystic Hungarian deer, the myths and legends of the Magyars and the paintings of Imre Egerhazi. This deluxe digipak release also includes a DVD, featuring high resolution 5. 1 surround sound and stereo mixes of the album, along with some live video extras and a documentary. The set also features a 32 page booklet with paintings by Imre Egerhazi.
Dyble Longdon/Between a Breath and a Breath ....import CD $22.99
Dyble Longdon is a collaboration between iconic vocalist Judy Dyble (ex Fairport Convention, Trader Horne) and Big Big Train songwriter and frontman David Longdon. The album contains seven original compositions with all lyrics by Judy Dyble and music and production by David Longdon. The songs are, at times, haunting and, at others, beautifully fragile. This collaboration with David Longdon is something Judy Dyble has hoped for for some time. "I first heard David sing with Big Big Train at King's Place in London 2015 and immediately decided that I really wanted to sing with him someday. And here we are with a collaborative album, which I think is wonderful!" she said. David Longdon describes the experience, "Judy and I both knew that it was a good possibility that our album might be her last. She told me that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer at the conclusion of Big Big Train's UK Tour 2019. It had become a race against time to complete the album, so one week after the tour I began working at The Playpen recording studio in Bristol with Patrick Phillips and Sarah Ewing, making Between a Breath and A Breath. Thankfully we had recorded all of Judy's vocals for the album some months earlier at Real World studios in Box. Despite the realization that Judy's health was gradually deteriorating, we decided that we would make the record that we'd always intended to make. The words to these song were given a greater and more profound meaning in light of what she was going through. We both managed to sign off the artwork and the final mastered mixes together. Although she was accepting of her circumstances, she really wanted to read the reviews and see it's reception in the world. She said she was sorry that she had to leave me, to represent our album alone. I said that it would be my honour to bring our music into the world. Judy passed away on the 12th of July 2020. I miss her greatly." Fellow founder member Simon Nicol said, "Judy was ever a childhood friend to me first and foremost, and now cancer has taken her after a long fight. But she'll remain as I always saw her: kind and gentle, shy but hilarious, wistful but focussed. She surrounded herself with loveliness, loved her kids and grandchildren, and adored her rescued greyhounds. Farewell, lovely."

John Fogerty/Fogerty's Factory ....CD $9.99
Fogerty's Factory is a newly recorded album of stripped back tracks from legendary singer, songwriter and guitarist John Fogerty. All songs were recorded during lockdown by John and his family including his sons Shane and Tyler (who together are the band Hearty Har) and daughter Kelsy. None of these included tracks have been available physically before. The first track, "Centerfield," was recorded on the Field at Dodger Stadium to celebrate John's 75th Birthday on May 28th. The cover image is an updated version of the iconic Creedence Clearwater Revival cover for Cosmo's Factory taken by the same photographer, Bob Fogerty. "Our family got together and decided we would spread some joy with music in these trying times," shares John. "We recreated Cosmos Factory and it became Fogerty's Factory... my sons, daughter Kelsy, Julie and we even got Bob Fogerty to shoot the cover photo, a total family affair!"
Galahad Electric Company/When the Battle Is Over ....import CD $19.99
Avalon Records is proud to present an unexpected 2020 album by Galahad off shoot project the Galahad Electric Company. During these strange Covid times in which we have found ourselves over the last few months it appears that Dean Baker and Stu Nicholson have tapped in to a rich vein of creativity resulting in a substantial collection of new music and songs. Therefore, the time seemed right to re-activate the Galahad Electric Company for the first time in over 20 years resulting in When the Battle Is Over. Most of the album was written between the middle of May and the end of June 2020 and is split in to two distinct sections, the first part being Suite 2020 a self-explanatory and somewhat ironic title which consists of five linked tracks. The second half of the album consist of five separate tracks, somewhat diverse in nature. Also, due to more constraints than normal as far as the recording process was concerned a certain amount of experimentation was involved with some of the songs, a few of which were ad-libbed and written in an almost stream of consciousness manner! The end result is an eclectic mixture of music and songs, examples of which are an adaptation of a poem by the famous 19th Century Dorset dialect poet and friend of Thomas Hardy, William Barnes and even Stu's cat Sammy Gorgeous contributes 'meows' to 'Mysterioso.' There are also nods to dance, folk, ambient, krautrock and even opera and gospel influences, all scattered throughout.

Peter Green/Kolors ....import CD $15.99
Peter Green's songs with Fleetwood Mac, such as "Albatross," "Black Magic Woman," "Oh Well," "The Green Manalishi" and "Man of the World," appeared on the singles charts, and several have been adapted by a variety of musicians. Many rock guitarists have cited Peter Green as an influence, including Gary Moore, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Andy Powell of Wishbone Ash, Noel Gallagher and Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood. 'Kolors' includes fourteen original tunes from the pen of Mike and Peter Green, as well as the traditional "Same Old Blues." There's low down blues like "Liquor and You," "Bad Bad Feeling" and more funky stuff as "Black Woman" and "What Am I Doing Here" with Green's slippery, understated licks creeping up everywhere.
John Hackett/The Piper Plays His Tune ....import CD $24.99

"Back in March I realized that it was going to be difficult to record another studio album in 2020 with the John Hackett Band due to lockdown. So I decided I would work on a completely home-produced project where I would write, sing and play all the parts myself. And now it is ready!"

Linda Hoyle/Pieces of Me + The Fetch [Remastered & Expanded Edition] ....import 2 CD Set $22.99
Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a new re-mastered 2 CD set featuring two classic albums by legendary vocalist Linda Hoyle: "Pieces of Me" and "The Fetch." Linda Hoyle first came to attention as vocalist with the excellent, but short-lived jazz rock band Affinity in 1970, after recording an album for Vertigo records, Linda then embarked on recording her first solo album, "Pieces of Me," for Vertigo in 1971. Collaborating with celebrated musician Karl Jenkins (of Nucleus and later Soft Machine) Linda Hoyle produced a wonderful and innovative album which fused many influences and was ground-breaking in it's direction. "Pieces of Me" also featured contributions from guitarist Chris Spedding and fellow Nucleus members John Marshall (drums) and Jeff Clyne (bass). Despite being a work of such quality and critical acclaim, "Pieces of Me" failed to make a commercial impression and Linda emigrated to Canada in 1972 where she continued to sing and also practiced as an art therapist. In 2013 she began work on another solo album, working with musician Oliver Whitehead and her former colleague in Affinity, Mo Foster. The album "The Fetch" appeared in 2015 and was also greeted with acclaim. This two disc set is a fitting celebration of the work of one of Britain's most gifted female vocalists and gathers together both of Linda Hoyle's solo albums and includes a bonus track previously unreleased in Europe,'Who's There,' recorded during sessions for "The Fetch." The set features a booklet with liner notes by Linda Hoyle.

Inspired by the house's beautiful Fazoli Pianoforti grand piano, Gary Husband unveils new depths of his unique musical prodigy. Markus Reuter proves the perfect compliment, kinetically synchronized in effortless perfection to his partner's every shift and turn - with graceful elegance, and rich textures providing spacious understatement throughout proceedings. The chemistry between artists takes its immediate and obvious form through their mutual reverence of the musical moment at hand, exhibited through seemingly telepathic interplay and dynamics. The result is a priceless gem. 'Music of Our Time' is a lustrous jewel of exquisite beauty and magnificent stature ... an ethereal creation, which ventures to places and spaces music rarely accesses.

King Crimson/The Elements Tour Box 2020 ....2 CD Box Set $24.99
This 2-CD history of King Crimson features many extracts and tracks appearing on CD for the first time, including many of the current line-up. Packaged in a digi-pack style book case with 24-page booklet, this set contains introductory notes by Robert Fripp & sleeve notes by Sid Smith. While this 7th release in the Tour Box series is in spirit with the earlier releases, this is also a very different tour box to its companions, and one which, as it has to stand along and represent a tour that should have been (and will occur in 2021), it also stands slightly apart. What themes and stories should a tour box created for a postponed tour tell? As with previous tour boxes, the 2020 Elements box covers the full spectrum of Crimsoning, this one with music and line-ups from 1969-2019. Disc one represents a mostly live/mostly new-to-CD selection of material including 4 tracks taken from the 2019 tour. Disc two, in keeping with the theme of Sid's notes, discussed below, presents pieces played occasionally by the current line-up - Exiles and Sheltering Sky, pieces from the studio - both King Crimson and Robert Fripp that were never completed, or were developed in different ways, material that never made it to a studio recording - The Errors, Dr. Diamond, Trees (extract), Guts on my Side, etc, all combine to present a convincing musical counter-history to the band. The main sleeve notes by KC historian Sid Smith present a series of highly plausible "what if?" scenarios. Starting from 1969 his 2000 word essay traces a counterfactual history of the band had various tours not been canceled or postponed, had various members not quit or joined, following the routes and pathways a band called King Crimson could have followed had things turned out slightly different along the way.
Kraftwerk/Soest Live ....import CD $18.99
One of the most influential bands in the last five decades, Kraftwerk virtually established the blueprint, the source code even, for electronic music. Founded by classically trained musicians Ralf Hutter and Florian Schneider-Esleban in Dusseldorf in 1970, the band has informed and inspired a diverse range of genres and artists including David Bowie, Bjork, Afrika Bambaataa, and Joy Division. This early live performance, in Soest, Germany in Winter 1970, broadcast on WDR-TV displays the band in superb form. Arguably, the future of electronic music, trance, techno, ambient - started right here.
|Dan Lacksman/Dan Lacksman ....CD $15.99||The Electronic System/Vol. II ....CD $15.99||The Electronic System/Tchip Tchip (Vol. 3) ....CD $15.99|
|Lacksman already had an album (Flamenco Moog) and a minor European hit ("Coconut") under his belt when he recorded 1973's Dan Lacksman, which is a true outlier in his catalog in that it features him on guitar (!) and voice (!!) along with his usual keyboard wizardry. As such, it's probably his most accessible record for those approaching his music from a strictly rock background. An early version of "Skylab" hints at the grand version to come on Tchip Tchip; some of the album sounds like a Belgian version of Steely Dan, and at times you might even hear a little early Eno/Robert Wyatt/Kevin Ayers prog punctuated by a couple of drinking songs. Overall, it's a progressive pop singersongwriter album and a bit of a trailblazer at that...which explains why original copies go for a mint.||While the first album Dan Lacksman recorded in 1973 was an atypical singer-songwriter foray, the second album from that year - credited to his pseudonym Electronic System - featured the full flowering of his synthesizer mastery. His hit recording "Coconut" had enabled him to buy a modular synthesizer, which offered a vastly expanded tonal palette - if you had the patience to re-wire for each sound you wanted to achieve. Which was the perfect set-up for a studio engineer like Lacksman...the result is an album full of sonic surprises, with each track presenting multiple, unique synthesizer tones and attacks, even on such nakedly commercial moves as his cover of Ritchie Valens' "La Bamba." An analog synth tour de force!||Pretty much all of Lacksman's '70s releases command a devout collector following, but none of them can measure up to the one he recorded in 1974 under the name Electronic System, Tchip Tchip (Vol. 3). While much of side one Tchip Tchip presents the composer's signature blend of synthesizer kitsch and boundary-breaking creativity, ranging from the oom-pah sound of the title track to the wacky "Spider," almost all of side two is devoted to the 14-minute "Sky Lab," which sounds like it came right off an Air record recorded 25 years later, with maybe a little Dark Side-era Pink Floyd thrown in. A true marvel, this track is why original copies of Tchip Tchip are downright unaffordable...it's not to be missed.|
Michael Landau/Liquid Quartet Live ....CD $16.99
Michael Landau will be releasing his brand new album 'Liquid Quartet Live' via The Players Club, a division of the Mascot Label Group. The album was recorded live at the world-famous Baked Potato Jazz Club in Los Angeles in November last year with his Liquid Quartet line-up of drummer Abe Laboriel Jr (Paul McCartney), bassist Jimmy Johnson (Alan Holdsworth) and on guitar and vocals, David Frazee (Burning Water). The intimacy oozes through the record, from the soft chitter-chatter, to the whoops, cheers, and "yeah" delights of the crowd. It's almost as if you are transported to one of the tightly packed tables in the front of the stage, soft lighting above your head watching the quartet perform in front of the back wall that's adorned with gig posters. The setlist features outings of some brand new songs (Well Let's Just See, Can't Walk Away from It Now) as well as some inspired renditions from his back catalogue; from his previous studio album 'Rock Bottom,' and from Renegade Creation, the band he formed with Robben Ford, as well as two instrumentals to finish the night.

Looking-Glass Lantern/World of Great Invention ....import CD $20.99
By the end of the Victorian era the world had become interconnected by technologies in a way that would have been unimaginable in the previous century. This album takes a musical look at the question "what did the Victorians do for us?" The eight songs consider a selection of inventions and new developments, and the changes these brought about in the day-to-day lives of ordinary people. There are songs about the affordable daily newspaper; the postage stamp; the bicycle; the department store; portrait photography; the demise of the tea clippers due to the advent of steamships; the industrialization of farming; and indoor domestic lighting. The album - the fourth from the Looking-Glass Lantern solo project - comes with a beautifully produced twenty-page booklet, the front cover of which symbolizes a world overrun with machinery. Dr Graham Dunnington holds a PhD in the history of the piano and music business in the Victorian era. Combined with a longstanding love of progressive rock, the outcome is the Looking-Glass Lantern project. Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets/Live at the Roundhouse ....2 CD + DVD $29.99
September release. "Live at the Roundhouse" is unlike any other concert film connected with Pink Floyd. It's the nearest thing you can get to a time machine, transporting you back to the very earliest days of the band. Nick Mason, the only band member to have played on all of Pink Floyd's studio albums, returns to the group's earliest records, joined in the line-up by Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken. Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets took the drummer back to clubs for the first time in 1967, then to theatres, across the UK, North America and Europe, playing only music his old band had recorded before The Dark Side of the Moon. Captured from the band's celebrated shows at London's Roundhouse, where Pink Floyd played some of their most revered early shows in the 1960s, the film features a uniquely thrilling setlist including songs hailing from Syd Barrett's time with the band. Only four songs from this eclectic roster have ever previously appeared on official live releases by Pink Floyd or its members. Everything else is being experienced for the first time since their original live performances.
Paul McCartney/McCartney III ....CD $15.99
Paul McCartney/McCartney III (180 Gram Vinyl, Gatefold LP Jacket) ....Vinyl LP $34.99
Paul McCartney/McCartney III (Colored Vinyl, White, Poster) ....Vinyl LP $34.99
Fifty years following the release of his self-titled first solo album McCartney, featuring Paul playing every instrument and writing and recording every song, Paul McCartney will release McCartney III. Paul hadn't planned to release an album in 2020, but in the isolation of "Rockdown," he soon found himself fleshing out some existing musical sketches and creating even more new ones. Before long an eclectic collection of spontaneous songs would become McCartney III: a stripped back, self-produced and, quite literally, solo work marking the opening of a new decade, in the tradition of 1970's McCartney and 1980's McCartney II. Recorded earlier this year in Sussex, McCartney III is mostly built from live takes of Paul on vocals and guitar or piano, overdubbing his bass playing, drumming, etc. Atop that foundation. McCartney III spans a vast and intimate range of modes and moods, from soul searching to wistful, from playful to raucous and all points between - captured with some of the same gear from Paul's Rude Studio used as far back as 1971 Wings sessions. And Paul's array of vintage instruments he played on the new album have an even more storied history, including Bill Black of Elvis Presley's original trio's double bass alongside Paul's own iconic Hofner violin bass, and a mellotron from Abbey Road Studios used on Beatles recordings, to name but a few. Just as McCartney's 1970 release marked Paul's return to basics in the wake of the biggest band break-up in musical history, and the 1980 avant-garde masterpiece McCartney II rose from the ashes of Wings, McCartney III finds Paul back on his own, turning unexpected circumstances into a personal snapshot of a timeless artist at a unique point in history.
Steve Miller Blues Band/Live from the Fillmore West 1968 ....import CD $15.99
The multi-talented and now venerable rock and roll Elder Statesman Steve Miller has steered an engrossing path through rock music, in a career that goes right back to his pre-teens in the 1950s to the present day. His career has been earmarked by moments where he has struck commercial high water marks with international hit singles such as 'The Joker,' 'Rock 'n' Me,' 'Take the Money and Run,' and 'Abracadabra,' but he has also released music that has excited positive critical appraisal - albums such as his 1968, London-recorded Children of the Future, through albums such as the second effort, Sailor, both examples of where he blended his blues-rock roots with elements of psychedelia. His third album, Brave New World, featured one of his first songs which created a character that defined him at that point - 'Space Cowboy,' a sobriquet he would later make reference to in his hit single, The Joker. However, he also moved with the times, and although primarily a cultured lead guitarist, his music has, at various times, incorporated the extended use of synthesisers, as well as taken advantage of studio and production innovations, rarely to the detriment of his overall likeable qualities. At heart, though, the blues has always been at the core of his music. This gritty live recording takes us back to the San Francisco of late 1968, when the bloom of the Summer of Love had long since wilted, but the restless churn and change of contemporary rock and roll was in full effect.
Mina Tindle/Sister ....CD $13.99
The third full-length from Mina Tindle, Sister is an album populated by mythic creatures of all kinds: lions on parade, lovers turned to cannibals, kings and Sirens and women with wings. Like any great fabulist, she threads her storytelling with a fragile wisdom, revealing essential truths about all the danger and wildness within the human heart. With each moment elevated by her spellbinding vocal work - a gift she's shown in recording and touring as a singer for The National - Sister ultimately makes for a transportive listen, at turns impossibly dreamlike and profoundly illuminating. Mina Tindle is the project of Parisian singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Pauline de Lassus. Mostly made in New York City the album's elegant detail balances the odd magic of the songs with a fierce emotional realism. During the last few years as she was writing and recording Sister, de Lassus has also been an integral part of the PEOPLE Festivals at the historic Berlin Funkhaus in 2016 and 2018, where she worked with a vast range of musicians and artists in the community. Sister achieves a potent complexity, arriving as her most imaginative selection of songs to date while wholly embracing the sometimes painful truth-telling she's long treasured in her most beloved artists.

Digitally remastered reissue of the 2010 album, with a bonus track. When it was originally released in the fall of 2010, 'Random Acts of Beauty' was met with nearly universal acclaim in progressive rock circles around the world. Neal Morse/Jesus Christ the Exorcist (Live at Morsefest 2018)

As the title suggests, this new live album and DVD/Blu-ray was captured at the annual Morsefest in 2018, where Neal and band performed his then new album, Jesus Christ the Exorcist in its entirety. Recorded 'virtually' in April 2020 at the height of the Coronavirus lockdown, Sola Gratia is the first album that Neal Morse and his band have made remotely. Conceptually based around the story of the apostle Paul, the album features longtime NMB members Mike Portnoy, Randy George and Eric Gillette. Bill Hubauer and Gideon Klein also participate.
Mountain/Avalanche ....import CD $14.99
CD reissue. Avalanche is somewhat of an underrated gem. Leslie West's mean guitar tone prevails throughout the majority of the album, leading off with a cover of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," while adding a loose remake of "Satisfaction." And the free-wheelin' "You Better Believe It" serves as a proto stoner guitar workout, as the big man commands with a furious six string assault of distortion and fuzz, and cowbell fills augment the nearly-six-minute jamming cut. "Sister Justice" rolls behind a cool riff and a full-on '70s groove. With guitarist David Perry, Corky Laing on the drums and Felix Pappalardi on keys and bass guitar this is definitely the most consistent and hardest rocking Mountain album in their discography.
John Petrucci/Terminal Velocity ....CD $13.99
John Petrucci/Terminal Velocity ....Vinyl LP $35.99
John Petrucci's Terminal Velocity marks the first solo album by the world-renowned Dream Theater guitarist to be released since 2005's Suspended Animation. Written and produced by Petrucci, the album sees the return of bassist Dave LaRue, who played on John's debut solo album and subsequent G3 tours, as well as, an eagerly anticipated reunion with former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy. The 9-songs on Terminal Velocity showcase John's affinity for writing tightly-weaved guitar instrumental powerhouses that feature everything from monster riff breaks to passion-filled melodic themes and all-out shred extravaganzas. The album was recorded by James 'Jimmy T' Meslin and mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap.
Anthony Phillips/Missing Links I-IV [Remastered] ....import 5 CD Box Set $41.99
Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of Missing Links I - IV, a newly remastered 5 CD set clamshell boxed set comprising the four original "Missing Links" albums by celebrated composer and Genesis founder member Anthony Phillips. Aside from his work as a solo artist, Anthony has been a composer of music for television for many years, going back as far as 1976. In 1989 Anthony issued the first collection of this music, "Missing Links" in December 1989 as a limited-edition release. Its popularity led to a further three Missing Links releases which gathered not only soundtrack compositions, but other rare archive recordings made by Anthony Phillips over the years. Although the original four volumes of the series have been subsequently been issued on CD, they have been unavailable for some years. Anthony has worked with his archivist Jon Dann to prepare this new boxed set edition of this wonderful music, compiling a new additional 27 track CD of previously unreleased and rare archive material, "Extra Links" exclusive to this set. Missing Links I - IV is sure to appeal to fans of Anthony's work. This new boxed set edition features liner notes by Jon Dann and is a fine collection of music by one of Britain's most imaginative and respected musicians.
Pinder Brothers/Melancholy Sea ....CD $15.99
The Pinder Brothers' new 'Melancholy Sea' makes waves with sing-a-long melodies and crafty alt-rock rrrangements. Sons of Moody Blues founding member Mike Pinder carry on the tradition, as their own SoCal followers continue to burgeon. The Pinder Brothers may not be the first pair of siblings to proffer an intrinsic fusion of vocal harmonies, but add to the mix crafty sing-a-long melodies and enough of a rock edge to engage the masses. That is the musical mantra of these brothers in arms' third full-length release "Melancholy Sea." Of course, the many current fans of Matthew and Michael Lee are already aware of one other essential factor. Let's call it pedigree. Their dad Mike Pinder was a founding member of the legendary Moody Blues, who not only fulfilled the enduring band's mellotron duties, but also contributed harmony vocals. The Pinder Brothers mesh the harmonies of Crosby, Stills and Nash alongside the songwriting style of Simon & Garfunkel, and ultimately add their own modern spin. Listeners will hear all of this and more in "Melancholy Sea," which the pair wrote, played and arranged. The project's masterfully penned lyrics create a sonic tapestry that dazzles the ear....much like the colors of a seashell inspire the eye. The brothers' voices harmonize beautifully, accompanied by arrangements that deftly ease from a bed of crunchy electric guitars into warm overdriven tones that layer as naturally as sheets and a blanket. It could be said that The Pinder Brothers have '60s Brit-rock heritage in their DNA, with a healthy dose of California style thrown in. Hailing from Northern California, Matt and Michael Pinder grew up playing music and performing together whenever possible. How could they not, with the sounds of the lost chord echoing softly in their ears. Thankfully, Mike Pinder's innate talent has been passed on to his sons - who are now creating their own legacy.
Pink Floyd/Delicate Sound of Thunder ....2 CD Set
Pink Floyd/Delicate Sound of Thunder ....DVD $25.99
Pink Floyd/Delicate Sound of Thunder ....Blu-Ray $33.99
Pink Floyd/Delicate Sound of Thunder [Deluxe Edition] ....2 CD + DVD + Blu-Ray Box Set $85.99
Pink Floyd/Delicate Sound Of Thunder [180 Gram Vinyl, With Booklet, Download Insert] ....3 Vinyl LP Set $72.99
The first break out package from the Pink Floyd 'The Later Years' set, Delicate Sound of Thunder, has been remixed, restored and re-edited on DVD and Blu-Ray. Alongside the full concert film (restored and re-edited from the original 35mm film and enhanced with 5.1 surround sound), included in The Later Years box set, the DVD and Blu-Ray features a 24-page photo booklet. In 1987, Pink Floyd made a triumphant resurgence. The legendary British band, formed in 1967, had suffered the loss of two co-founders: keyboardist / vocalist Richard Wright, who left after sessions for The Wall in 1979, and bass player and lyricist Roger Waters, who had left to go solo in 1985, soon after the 1983 album The Final Cut. The gauntlet was thus laid down for guitarist/singer David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason, who proceeded to create the multi-platinum A Momentary Lapse of Reason album, a global chart smash, which also saw the return of Richard Wright to the fold. Originally released in September 1987, A Momentary Lapse of Reason was quickly embraced by fans worldwide, who flocked to attend the live tour dates, which started within days of the album's release. The tour played to more than 4.25 million fans over more than two years, and, as a celebration of the enduring talent and global appeal of Pink Floyd, was unsurpassed at the time. Filmed at Long Island's Nassau Coliseum in August 1988 and directed by Wayne Isham, the 2020 release of the Grammy Award nominated Delicate Sound of Thunder is sourced directly from over 100 cans of original 35mm negatives, painstakingly restored and transferred to 4K, and completely re-edited by Benny Trickett from the restored and upgraded footage, under the creative direction of Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis. Similarly, the sound was completely remixed from the original multitrack tapes by longtime Pink Floyd engineer Andy Jackson with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, assisted by Damon Iddins. Pink Floyd's stellar supporting cast for the live dates included: Jon Carin (Keyboards, Vocals), Tim Renwick (Guitars, Vocals), Guy Pratt (Bass, Vocals), Gary Wallis (Percussion), Scott Page (Saxophones, Guitar), Margret Taylor (Backing Vocals), Rachel Fury (Backing Vocals) and Durga McBroom (Backing Vocals). The setlist carefully balances the then-new material and Pink Floyd classics, including songs from The Dark Side of the Moon ("Time," "On The Run," "The Great Gig in the Sky" and "Us and Them"), the anthemic title track of Wish You Were Here, The Wall's "Comfortably Numb" and a cathartic "Run Like Hell." As a record of the creative power of David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright at their incendiary best, Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder is an engrossing and uplifting event, to be enjoyed by any rock music fan. 2-CD includes 8 tracks more than its original release. Blu-ray: Stereo PCM 96/24 / DVD: Stereo PCM 48/16. Deluxe Box includes 2-CD (23 Songs), Blu-ray (21 songs inc. 5 Bonus Tracks), DVD (21 songs inc. 5 Bonus Tracks), 40-Page Booklet, Double Sided Poster, 5 Postcards.
The Pretty Things/Bare as Bone, Bright as Blood ....import CD $17.99
The acoustic and gritty Bare as Bone, Bright as Blood is the remarkable and unexpected 2020 album by The Pretty Things, who remained the tainted, dark rock royalty they always were until the very end.
Procol Harum/Something Magic ....import double CD $23.99
Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a new re-mastered 2 CD edition of the classic album "Something Magic" by Procol Harum. First released in March 1977, the album introduced a new band line-up of Gary Booker (vocals, piano), B.J. Wilson (drums), Chris Copping (bass), Mick Grabham (guitar) and Pete Solley (organ, synthesizer) and was recorded in Miami with producers Ron and Howie Albert. Although the album would feature a host of marvellous tracks such as 'Strangers in Space,' 'Skating on Thin Ice' and 'Something Magic' and the Mick Grabham / Keith Reid composition 'The Mark of the Claw,' relationships between the band and their producers grew strained when the Albert brothers rejected a number of other tracks written for the new album. As a result, Gary Brooker suggested the inclusion of a lengthy piece he had been working on with lyricist Keith Reid; 'The Worm and the Tree.' This orchestrated piece would dominate a side of the album and was the first composition of this scale that Procol Harum had recorded since 'In Held Twas in I' (on the 1968 album "Shine on Brightly"). Following the album's release (and a final US tour with bassist Dee Murray replacing Chris Copping), Procol Harum disbanded, eventually reforming in 1991 with the release of the album "The Prodigal Stranger." At the time of its release Something Magic stood apart from the emerging punk rock movement and was unfairly overlooked by critics. However, the passage of time has revealed the excellence of the album. This new edition of Something Magic has been newly re-mastered and includes 14 bonus tracks comprising the rare B-side "Backgammon" and two live-in-the-studio recordings of 'You'd Better Wait' and 'This Old Dog,' originally written for the album. The set also includes an additional disc featuring Procol Harum's performance for the BBC TV and Radio series Sight & Sound in Concert from March 1977. This stereo BBC radio recording has been re-mastered from newly discovered masters and appears on CD for the first time. It includes the complete version of 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' which was cut in the original television broadcast of the set. The release also includes an illustrated booklet with essay and interviews by Procol Harum archivist Roland Clare.

Keith Relf/All the Falling Angels - Solo Recordings & Collaborations 1965-1976 ....import CD $24.99
Repertoire Records proudly present All the Falling Angels, a collection of recordings featuring the late Keith Relf, former vocalist/guitarist with the Yardbirds and the original lineup of Renaissance. With his blond hair, dark sunglasses, and frail, moody vocal style, Keith Relf brought a mystique to the Yardbirds that was a huge element of their image and sound. That cool, cerebral, soulful approach continued with the music he made after the Yardbirds, all the way up until his tragic death in 1976 at the age of just 33. All the Falling Angels is a carefully selected collection of Keith's work as a solo artist and in collaboration with fellow Yardbird Jim McCarty and his sister Jane Relf (both of whom were also part of the original Renaissance lineup). It includes previously unreleased demos from Keith's personal tape archive, along with rare tracks by Together, the duo he formed with McCarty in 1968, his hard to find 1966 solo singles, and much more. 24 tracks total.
The Residents/Cube-E Box - The History of American Music in 3 E-Z Pieces [pREServed Edition] ....import 7 CD Box Set $45.99
In the late 1980s The Residents embarked on what many fans still consider their greatest live project. "Cube-E - The History of American Music in 3 E-Z Pieces" spanned almost four years and proposed to do nothing less than its title suggested, telling the story of American popular music, from its birth around the campfires of a non-existent Old West to its death at the hands of Elvis and the British Invasion, all in three easy pieces. Performed on TV and on stage around the world between 1987 and 1990, the show saw The Residents fully embrace their loves of elaborate and imaginative staging, the latest in music technology and, of course, The King - Elvis Aaron Presley. It goes without saying that there was barely a dry seat in the house, and alongside live recordings and contemporaneous studio material this pREServed set includes the previously unreleased demos for the entire "King & Eye" album, which saw the group tackle twenty-something (you can count 'em!) of Mr. Swivel Hips' hottest hits. Spread across an inescapably unwieldy 7CDs at the group's insistence, "Cube-E pREServed" is the final word in Americana cool. Or so it says here! Remastered, expanded, and pREServed for future generations, this is the latest in a series of archival Residents reissues that will continue throughout 2020 and beyond. Look out for "Freak Show" and "Gingerbread Man" sets, coming to a record store near you!
Rhinoceros/The Elektra Albums 1968-1970 [Remastered Edition] ....import 3 CD Set $29.99
Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered 3 CD set featuring all the albums recorded by Rhinoceros for Elektra Records between 1968 and 1970. The concept of Rhinoceros was a suggestion of celebrated producer Paul A. Rothchild (The Doors, Love, Butterfield Blues Band etc.). Because of his recent success with The Doors, Rothchild was given the freedom by Elektra founder Jac Holzman to suggest projects he felt had merit. With fellow producer Frazier Mohawk (who had been involved with Buffalo Springfield), he decided to assemble a new band from scratch, selecting some of the finest musicians in the Los Angeles area. Following a series of auditions, Rhinoceros came together to rehearse and record their debut album with a line-up of vocalist John Finley (ex-Jon & Lee & the Checkmates), guitarist Danny Weis (a founder member of Iron Butterfly), keyboard player Michael Fonfara (ex-Electric Flag), guitarist Danny Hastings (briefly involved with Buffalo Springfield), keyboard player & vocalist Alan Gerber, bassist Jerry Penrod and drummer Billy Mundi (once with The Mothers of Invention). Despite the manner in which they came together, Rhinoceros proved to be a fine band, absorbing rock, blues and soul influences and their self-titled debut album (produced by Paul Rothchild) appeared in 1968 to good reviews. The band began to tour the USA and attracted a steady growing following. In 1969 the band recorded the album Satin Chickens, another fine example of groove-based rock with psychedelic and soul influences. By this time Jerry Penrod had departed nto be replaced by Peter Hodgson. The album gained enough traction for the band to be asked to perform at the legendary Woodstock Festival in August 1969, only for their management to reject the offer to appear without the band's knowledge. When the impact of this decision was realized morale with the band suffered and they underwent further line-up changes for their third and final album Better Times Are Coming (issued in 1970). This re-mastered 3 CD set gathers together for the first time the three albums Rhinoceros recorded for Elektra Records and features an illustrated booklet with exclusive new interviews with John Finley and Danny Weis and serves as a fine tribute to an unfairly overlooked band, who were a part of the American rock scene of the late 1960s.

Recorded from their New York City homes during the quarantine, this 11-track album showcases soul-searching, thought-provoking originals and perfectly chosen covers, along with guest appearances by Amy Ray and Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls. The 11 tracks, 8 original and 3 covers, explore themes of good and evil, youth and mortality, the absurd and the serious, the real and the imagined, and the connection between what is present and what is gone. Each of their albums together have documented a specific time and this one, according to Suzzy, 'probably is the darkest, but at the same time, it's the most fanciful too. This time, there seemed an extra urgency about it.'

Ray Russell/Fluid Architecture ....CD $16.99
Ray Russell: guitars and featuring Eric Baldwin: found sounds, sequential creativity, George Baldwin: bass, Chapman Stick, Chris Biscoe: tenor clarinet & soprano saxophone, Mo Foster: bass, Nic France: drums, Simon Phillips: drums, Ralph Salmins: drums, Jim Watson: keyboards. As part of an exploratory group of British 'jazz and beyond' musicians in the late 1960's, Ray Russell released a number of acclaimed and ultimately influential experimental albums; Dragon Hill, Rites & Rituals, Live at the I.C.A. and Secret Asylum. Based on the dates of these releases, he can claim to be, along with Sonny Sharrock, one of the earliest 'free' guitarists and his early work has been cited by today's noted experimentalists like Thurston Moore and Jim O'Rourke. Since then, Russell has enjoyed a freelance career composing award-winning TV soundtracks and working with artists ranging from Phil Collins to Gil Evans to Tina Turner to Andrew Lloyd Webber, but he remains a dedicated sonic explorer as well. "His lines are not so much melodic variation, or even Coltrane-like walls of sound. Instead it is like a Pollock painting mounted with guitar pickups, the sound of explosions. Russell makes it sound as if the guitar is not enough... " - Jim O'Rourke. ".. guitarists in particular should analyze carefully... excellent fretwork in the middle of a triangle whose corners are occupied by Jeff Beck, Phil Miller and Yo' Miles!" - Touching Extremes"... the album is essentially an explosive, spellbinding, and well-rounded musical event, where many of the hard-edged works encompass eloquent plot developments and tuneful theme-building maneuvers." - All About Jazz
Samurai/Samurai [Newly Remastered & Expanded Edition] ....import CD $18.99
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered and expanded edition of the classic and highly regarded self-titled album by the progressive rock group Samurai. The band evolved from the equally excellent group Web (whose album I Spider is a classic of the genre), and featured Dave Lawson (vocals, keyboards), Tony Edwards (guitar), John Eaton (bass), Kenny Beveridge (drums), Lennie Wright (vibes, drums, percussion), Tony Roberts (saxes, flute, clarinet) and Don Fay (saxes, flute). The sole album by the band is truly a lost classic of the progressive era. Released on the short-lived Greenwich Gramophone label in 1971, the album was influenced by the experiments of groups such as King Crimson, Colosseum et al, but Samurai was more than a mere clone of other bands. The group successfully fused the worlds of jazz with rock, the musicianship on the album was excellent and Dave Lawson's compositions were ground-breaking and memorable. Sadly, the group disbanded shortly after the release of the record resulting in limited sales. However, the influence of the album was not lost as Dave Lawson soon joined Dave Greenslade to form the group Greenslade, effectively taking up the musical mantle laid down by Samurai. This Esoteric new edition has been newly re-mastered from recently discovered first generation original master tapes and has been expanded to include three live recordings made in 1971 and officially released for the first time. The release also features an illustrated booklet and an interview with Dave Lawson.

"The big difference with the new album is the multi-layer approach I took to recording the guitar parts. It's all blues-based rock music. I try to find new and progressive ways to write and play the music I've loved since I was a young teenager.

Scope/Scope ....import CD $18.99
Scope/Scope II ....import CD $18.99
The predecessor band of Scope was called Strange Power and was founded around 1969 in Zwolle, Holland. Rik Elings, Henk Zomer (drums) and bassist Erik Raayman had founded the fusion project and had already released a 7" single that was added to the first Scope CD as a bonus. With the entry of guitarist Rens Nieuwland in 1972, Strange Power became Scope. Subsequently, the Dutch jazz rock foursome made a name for itself in both Holland and Germany. A talent scout from WEA / Atlantic became aware of the band and hired them for his label. In 1973 the band entered the Hamburg studio Maschen to record their debut album "Scope" under the direction of Jochen Petersen. The result was an exciting, varied fusion / jazz rock album, which contained a lot of improvisations and perfectly reflected the craftsmanship of the four musicians. The press was thrilled and Scope went back on the streets to present the new album live. In 1974 Erik Raayman left the band, but the band continued with a surprising plan. Multi-instrumentalist Rik Elings left his place behind the keyboards with Rob Franken and took over the four-string. A wise decision, because Rob Franken was one of the best and most famous jazz pianists in Holland. With this line-up, they returned to Studio Maschen in September 1974 to record the follow-up album "Scope II" for WEA. Like the debut, the album is a unique funk / fusion delicacy record, and Scope has become a real insider tip of the international jazz rock scene. Despite (or because of) the major deal, large record sales did not happen. After numerous changes in the line-up it came to an end in 1976. The further history of the involved musicians can be wonderfully read in the booklets for "Scope" and "Scope II."

Al Stewart/24 Carrots [40th Anniversary Edition] ....import 3 CD Set $28.99
Esoteric Recordings is proud to announce the release of a newly re-mastered and expanded 3 CD 40th Anniversary edition of the classic album 24 Carrots by Al Stewart. Released in 1980, the album came on the heels of a series of highly successful albums Year of the Cat and Time Passages, which saw the legendary folk-rock musician reach a wider audience and, after adopting a more rock orientated approach, gain top ten success in the USA where he had relocated. For the album 24 Carrots he worked with the musicians in the band Shot in the Dark featuring his musical collaborator Peter White (keyboards, guitar), Adam Yurman (electric guitar), Robin Lamble (bass, guitar), Krysia Kristianne (backing vocals), Brian Savage (saxophone, flute), Robin Marlette (keyboards) and various drummers including Steve Chapman and Jeff Porcaro. It also featured a guest appearance by Robin Williamson (Incredible String Band). Sessions for the album began at Davlen studios in Los Angeles in August 1979 where Al worked with Shot in the Dark on a series of demos of some compositions that would make up the album, and others which would remain consigned to the vaults. When completed in May 1980 the album would feature classic tracks such as 'Running Man,' 'Merlin's Time,' 'Murmansk Run - Ellis Island' and the US top thirty hit single 'Midnight Rocks.' Upon its release in August 1980, 24 Carrots would be another American Top Forty hit and would also be a success in other European countries. This 40th anniversary edition of 24 Carrots has been newly expanded from the original first-generation master tapes and includes two rare single mixes previously unreleased on CD and two additional CDs featuring the August 1979 Davlen studios demo sessions (including an early studio version of The World Goes to Riyadh) and a CD of live recordings made at Hammersmith Odeon in London in December 1980 on the 24 Carrots tour. The release also includes an illustrated booklet with an exclusive new interview with Al Stewart. This 40th anniversary edition serves as a fine tribute to a fine album and a consummate songwriter and performer.
Sun Ra/Fireside Chat with Lucifer ....CD $15.99
Digitally remastered edition. An F-bomb saturated hip-hop call and response club cut... from Sun Ra?! While the most renown track in this omniversal opus is the atomic expletive-filled repartee Nuclear War, there is so much more to this dark mysterious journey through the mind of Sun Ra. The sprawling, suite-like 20-minute title track sustains a lyrical edge in spite of an open framework and textures, which encourage sonorities to surface and emerge from the band as if there was no human intention behind them. In opposition to 'Nuclear War,' Ra's organ playing here was built less on bombast and sonic terror than it is on whispers, stutters, shivers, and swells. Fireside Chat offers a wide stylistic array, as was the artist's intent, reflecting his eclectic, seemingly irreconcilable approach to compositional extremes. With Sun Ra you get everything... except predictability. First ever reissue of this iconic album!

Progressive Rock from Germany! Never before has there been a comparable compilation! Towards the end of the 1960s, German bands began their first attempts to emancipate themselves stylistically from their US and British role models. Unorthodox formations could not be pigeonholed, and so a scene with a wide musical range was created. With the release of the first of a total of four issues, Bear Family marks another milestone on the way to a comprehensive documentation of the history of popular music in Germany from the early 1960s to the mid-1980s. With 'Kraut! Die innovativen Jahre des Krautrock 1968-1979' we will release a double CD every three months in 2020 with a booklet of about 100 pages and biographies of each band, an exquisite selection of the exciting and influential bands of those days, some of which caused a sensation far beyond Germany.

Various Artists/The Sky Goes All the Way Home ....import 2 CD Set 24.99
This project was co-ordinated by Ashley Franklin of BBC Radio Derby's Soundscapes (Mojo and the Wire both highlight his show). This extraordinarily poetic phrase inspired Ashley to contact hundreds of musicians in order to compile an album. All profits from this release will go to Parkwood School (to raise funds for their minibus) and the Downs Syndrome Association, whose director has written some of the sleeve notes. Ashley has compiled a 35 track double CD. There are 35 tracks, 25 tracks are exclusive to this release and the running time is over 2 and a half hours. Contributing artist include Rick Wakeman, Robert Fripp, John Wetton, Peter Hammill, Anthony Phillips, The Enid, No-Man, Roy Harper, Gordon Giltrap, Kevin Coyne, Celtus, Biosphere and many more.

Roger Waters/Us + Them ....DVD $19.99
October release. Roger Waters: Us + Them, chronicles the acclaimed 2017-2018 tour of the iconic Pink Floyd artist. As the founding member, lyricist, composer and creative force behind Pink Floyd, Us + Them presents Waters powerful music in stunning form and highlights its message of human rights, liberty and love. Based around his acclaimed, sold-out Us + Them worldwide tour of 2017-18, comprising a total of 156 shows to 2.3 million people across the globe, it features classic songs from The Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Animals, Wish You Were Here as well as his most recent album, Is this the Life We Really Want? Waters powerfully demonstrates that he is at heart, a musical activist and one of the most passionate political commentators of his time. He has dedicated his life to fighting against those who seek to control our lives and destroy our planet. Welcome to the Machine and Another Brick in the Wall Part II, are a stark reminder of the bleak warnings that he gave decades ago about alienation, displacement, greed, suffering, destruction and loss. And yet the humanity of the songwriter cannot be more plainly seen than in Wish You Were Here, because, although he presents a grim picture of the state of the world, ultimately his message is one of hope through unity and love. Directed by Sean Evans and Roger Waters, the film provides a visceral sense of what it was like to be there. Using the most innovative digital and audio technology available, this state-of-the-art show encapsulates a series of breath-taking visual, audio and sensory experiences. It captures Waters' legendary live performances and takes the audience on an emotionally charged, thought-provoking journey.
