Gentle Giant/Free Hand [5.1 & 2.0 Steven Wilson Mix]
....CD + Blu-Ray $21.99
Gentle Giant/Free Hand [Steven Wilson Mix] ....CD $15.99
Free Hand was Gentle Giant's seventh album originally released in July 1975. This album was the most commercially successful of the band's career reaching the top 40 albums in Billboard Magazine. It stands as the culmination of the band's maturity, following the successes of In a Glass House and The Power & the Glory. Having toured Europe & North America non-stop in the years prior to this release with artists like Jethro Tull, Yes, Zappa etc, the band had gone from strength to strength. By the time Freehand was released Gentle Giant had become a major headliner in its own right. All the members were multi-instrumentalists. The band were never afraid of surprising an audience with a 4 part recorder ensemble followed by a vibraphone solo all the while rocking the audience and thoroughly enjoying themselves onstage at the same time. Gentle Giant albums featured many songs with both literary subjects as well as social and personal commentary on life as rock musicians. Free Hand has more than most. The title of the album and first track were so named as the band had just changed record labels and management and felt unshackled by prior contractual obligations. Putting these issues behind them upon it's first release, Gentle Giant embarked on an extensive tour of North America and Europe, plus a short tour of the UK, to promote the album. The incredible range of Gentle Giant's music is evident hroughout this album. From the intricate vocal fretwork of On Reflection and the delicate medieval flavor of Talybont the Celtic-tinged rock of Time to Kill and the jagged rhythms of Just the Same all those diverse elements which made the band so strikingly original are skillfully blended and perfectly executed. Award winning producer and musician Steven Wilson has added his delicate touch in remixing Free Hand in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound. His tonal range and painstaking attention to sound quality make Free Hand sound as fresh today as it did on first release. A fitting tribute to the compositional skills and expertise of five dedicated musicians. Steven Wilson's remixed version of Freehand will be released in Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround sound accompanied by custom animated visuals for each track on Blu-ray. In addition, the original flat mix, original 1975 quad mix and an instrumental mix will all be included in a Digipack CD.
John McLaughlin/Liberation Time ....CD $16.99
With his newest album, Liberation Time, McLaughlin draws from one of humanity's most fraught, uncertain epochs to produce music that gracefully reflects the uncertainty, vulnerability, and slowly awakening joy of our times. A direct response to the mandated restrictions imposed by the spread of Covid-19, the album is - unusually for McLaughlin's recent projects - not the work of one fixed ensemble. With physical proximity no longer a prerequisite, McLaughlin drew upon decades of experience as a bandleader to select musicians best suited to each composition. 'As the Spirit Sings' introduces the album by contrasting churning rhythmic tension (stoked by drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and bassist Sam Burgess) with McLaughlin's soaring guitar figures - all underpinned by Gary Husband's subtle, supportive piano. The knotty post-bop figures of 'Right Here, Right Now, Right On' mark one of the most jazz-inflected performances McLaughlin has laid down in some time, featuring Nicolas Viccaro (drums), Jerome Regard (bass), Julian Siegel (tenor saxophone), and Oz Ezzeldin (piano). The sense of brotherhood that bonds McLaughlin's current 4th Dimension ensemble (McLaughlin, Husband, bassist Etienne Mbappe, and drummer Ranjit Barot) is on full display during 'Lockdown Blues,' a playful refraction examination of blues tropes first released last summer to benefit the Jazz Foundation of America. With vaccination campaigns now in full effect and a more promising tomorrow coming into view, Liberation Time's title track can be felt as visceral anticipation - a rousing glimpse into an unbound future rich with possibilities. And while much of Liberation Blues revels in the sort of spontaneous interplay that has been denied by Covid restrictions, some of the album's most touching moments feature McLaughlin alone at the piano - an instrument he has not recorded on since his 1973 collaboration with Carlos Santana, Love Devotion Surrender. Liberation Time is a product of its times, and yet it looks both forwards and backwards - at once drawing upon memories of better days yet reaching for a new dawn. Looking back at the album's transcontinental sessions, McLaughlin concludes, 'The wonderful thing about music is that you put the headphones on and you are all in the same room.'

Alan Parsons/On Air ....import CD $14.99
This concept album as the name suggests, is an album dedicated to the skies and learning how to master the art of flying. It stands up to anything Alan Parsons did earlier under the 'Project' moniker. It has a nice laid-back sound with lots of interesting layers. Great to listen to on a good set of speakers or headphones."On Air" was the second album by Alan Parsons (without the "Project"). It is a somewhat underrated concept album on the theme of flight and the history of aviation, from the hot air balloons on the cover picture through to space travel. 10CCs Eric Stewart takes lead vocals for the soft ballad "Blown by the Wind," and the two "Blue Blue Sky" tracks which bookend the album.
Steve Lukather & Edgar Winter/Live at North Sea Festival 2000 ....CD + DVD $18.99
When these two extraordinary musicians, Steve Lukather and Edgar Winter, came together on stage at the North Sea Festival 2000, they had already achieved legendary careers in their own right. Steve Lukather started as a studio musician before becoming a founding member of rock band Toto. His guitar style and influence can be heard on numerous albums of notable artists such as Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and Chicago. Having been influenced by Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, Steve developed a guitar style, which paid tribute to both rock and jazz styles, playing with such perfection and intensity that you can still spot his influence among a thousand other guitarists. Edgar Winter is the younger brother of Johnny Winter. Having debuted at the Woodstock-Festival, he also fusioned rock, blues and jazz since his first great successes in 1970. Working with musicians such as Rick Derringer, David Lee Roth and Ringo Starr, he was equally well prepared to team up with Steve Lukather. Together with Phil Soussan (bass) and Gary Ferguson (drums) the concert at the North Sea Jazz Festival was not only a firework of improvisation, but an intense demonstration of the perfection and skills of Lukather and Winter.
Marillion/Anoraknophobia ....import CD $18.99
Anoraknophobia is claimed by Marillion to have been the first crowdfunded album in the music industry, completely financed by the fans, allowing the band to record free from any record company pressures. The album is one of their most absorbing records to date and finds the band departing their neo-progressive rock past in favour of elements of rap, groove, trip hop, blues, jazz and dub elements to create a more contemporary sound. Now issued on Kscope, this is a chance to revisit a band in truly inspired form with a record far ahead of it's time.
Marillion/Marbles ....import 2 CD Set $19.99
Marillion formed in 1979 and have sold over 15 million albums worldwide. Rightly regarded as legends of progressive rock, the band have also continued to evolve and have been keen to embrace the possibilities of the internet, using innovative ways to interact with listeners resulting in an incredibly loyal legion of fans around the world. Marbles received considerable attention when first released as the album had been funded by donations from fans who had pre-ordered the album before they started recording in return for having their name printed within the album artwork (over 18,000 names). The exposure that the band got with this (at the time unheard of) approach helped propel "You're Gone," the first single from the album, into the top 10 of the UK charts. Regarded in some quarters as their best album, Marbles was originally released through the band's own Racket Records label and produced by long-time collaborator Dave Meegan, featuring tracks mixed by Steven Wilson.

Jan Schelhaas has a wide and varied career, having played both in Caravan and Camel over the years. His music can be described as a perfect blend between the two bands and his talent on keyboards makes him highly regarded as a musician. His main contributions to Camel were for the 'I Can See Your House from Here' and 'Nude' albums as well as some live Camel releases. In terms of Caravan, he was influential on 'Blind Dog at St. Dunstans,' 'Better By Far,' 'Cool Water' and 'The Unauthorised Breakfast Item.' Man/Anachronism Tango ....import CD $18.99
With a population of approximately three million people, Wales is not necessarily one of the most populous countries on earth. Wales is not even the most populous country in the UK. Nevertheless, Wales has a diverse and successful music scene and has produced a number of internationally acclaimed stars over the past decades, such as Tiger Tom Jones, Bonnie Tyler, John Cale, Shakin' Stevens or bands like Manic Street Preachers, Feeder; Stereophonics, Racing Cars and Man, only to name but a few. Man from Merthyr Tydfil are probably the most senior band from Wales at the moment. Founded in 1968 from the members of the rockgroup The Bystanders, Man developed a very independently mixture of progressive and psychedelic rock, blues and elements of US Westcoast rock. Live, Man is known for their excessive jams in the spirit of US colleagues like the Grateful Dead or the Allman Brothers. After a series of very successful LPs, Man split up in 1977 due to differences of opinions about their musical focus. During their farewell tour through the USA, Europe and North Africa, the album All's Well that Ends Well was recorded. In 1983, Man reunited with Deke Leonard, Martin Ace, Jeff Jones and ex-Gentle Giant drummer John Weathers. The album Friday 13th was released in the same year. Another reformation took place in 1992 with Ace, Jones, Leonard and Weathers and the release of the album Twang Dynasty. Since then Man have been touring regularly and releasing new albums as well. Further personnel changes bring on the second generation of musicians to Man in the coming years. So in 2021 bassist Martin Ace and his son Josh are the driving forces of the band. Now Anachronism Tango will be released, a new Man album recorded by Martin and Josh Ace, James Beck (slide guitar, vocals), Rene Robrahn (drums) and veteran keyboardist Malcolm Morley. The high and established Man quality level is also maintained on this album.
Open Road/Windy Daze [Remastered & Expanded Edition] ....import 2 CD Set $24.99
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered and expanded edition of the classic and highly regarded album Windy Daze by Open Road. The band was formed by drummer John Carr and bassist / guitarist Mike Thomson in 1970. Both Carr and Thomson had been part of Donovan's band for his 1970 album Open Road (Donovan's first album to be recorded after he had split with producer Mickie Most). Upon the completion of sessions Donovan undertook some live concerts with his new band, which he named Open Road. After performing some concerts in Europe, Donovan and Open Road performed at the legendary 1970 Isle of Wight festival before Donovan parted company with his band. Carr and Thomson began to perform as Open Road recruiting Simon Lanzon on keyboards and guitarist Barry Husband. Open Road were the first progressive group to sign with the newly formed Greenwich Gramophone label (a subsidiary of Chapter 1 Records) and they entered Olympic Studios in April 1971 to begin work on their only album - Windy Daze. Produced by Tony Reeves (bassist with Colosseum and later Greenslade), the album was completed at Morgan Studios in London and was a fine record which fused both folk and progressive influences and received critical praise. A follow up single, Swamp Fever b/w Lost and Found was released in February 1972, and Open Road entered Olympic Studios to record a second album with engineer Vic Smith (later better known as producer Vic Coppersmith Heaven). Entitled The Open Road, the album was designated a catalogue number by Greenwich Gramphone but for reasons now unclear failed to gain a release and the group disbanded. Original LP copies of Windy Daze remain hugely sought after by collectors of the progressive genre. This Esoteric Recordings edition has been newly re-mastered from recently discovered first generation original master tapes and has been expanded to a two-disc set include the band's 1972 single and their unreleased second album. The release also features an illustrated booklet with a new essay.
Miles Davis/Merci, Miles! Live at Vienne ....2 CD Set $24.99
By 1991, the world's most celebrated trumpeter could look back on five decades of musical evolution - his own, and that of the world around him. Miles Davis had found ways of marrying jazz with classical ideas, then later R&B, rock and funk, producing hybrid offspring that shaped the course of popular music and had come to define his legend. In 1985, he'd left Columbia after thirty years to sign to Warner Bros. Records, a label riding high with best-selling artists like Madonna, Van Halen and Prince, with whom he had a mutual admiration and friendship. Miles Davis's lifelong love for France is well-documented, and in July 1991, he became a Knight of their Legion of Honour. Davis received the award from French culture minister Jack Lang, who described him as: "The Picasso of Jazz." A few days before, he played this electrifying set at the Vienne Jazz Festival with the Miles Davis Group. He passed away two months later in September 1991. Miles Davis' performance at Jazz a Vienne on July 1, 1991 became one of his final live performances before he passed away on September 28, 1991, and this previously unreleased set includes two songs written by Prince, "Penetration" and "Jailbait."

Vince DiCola/Only Time Will Tell ....import CD $20.99
Vince DiCola is a musician / songwriter from Pennsylvania and relocated to LA in 1981 to advance his career. Vince grew up listening to bands such as Genesis, Yes and ELP, so progressive rock was high on his list of influences. In the early to mid-eighties Vince was involved in some well-known film scores such as "Staying Alive," "Rocky IV" and "The Transformers: The Movie" and his song writing abilities shone through at a very early stage. Fans may also remember Vince's collaboration in the 1990s with Doane Perry (Jethro Tull) and Rick Livingstone (Agent) on the highly regarded "Storming Heaven" release as well as Thread, another project with Doane Perry. Vince has been involved with some of the best musicians in the business over the years and the 13 songs listed here have been co-written and feature artists such as Bobby Kimball, Jason Scheff, Steve Walsh, Rick Livingstone, Roger Voudouris, Stan Bush, Mark Boals and Ellis Hall. The songs are just fantastic and the progressive element is particularly highlighted in the epic "Suffer the Children" featuring Steve Walsh. Comparisons to Toto, Chicago, Kansas and many other melodic rock bands can be heard throughout. "Only Time Will Tell" is indeed a great album. Any one of these songs could easily be part of a big movie soundtrack and each song has it's own individuality. And of course this album features some outstanding vocalists and musicians.
Various Artists/Banquet: Underground Sounds of 1969 ....import 3 CD Set $39.99
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the next release in their series of compilations celebrating the so-called "underground" rock music - "Banquet - Underground Sounds of 1969," is a 3CD clamshell boxed set which gathers together nearly four hours of music from 1969, a year that saw a huge progression both musically and socially. It was a fine year for creativity in British album-based rock, embraced by the emerging counter-culture. Musical stylistic influences such as psychedelia jazz, blues, hard rock, folk and even classical music melded, all of which was championed by "underground" figures of the day such as DJ John Peel on his BBC Radio One show Top Gear and by publications such as International Times and Oz. The common thread among all of these artists was an emphasis on experimentation and a desire to push the perceived boundaries of popular music. It was also a year that would see the birth of "progressive" record labels such as EMI's Harvest and Phillips Records' Vertigo imprints, both aiming to mimic the success that independent labels such as Island Records had achieved and it was the year when the "sampler" compilation albums such as "You Can All Join In," "Nice Enough to Eat," "Gutbucket," "Son of Gutbucket" and "Wowie Zowie! - The World of Progressive Music" left a lasting impression on the album buying audience. 1969 also saw bands that would go on to achieve success and influence in the 1970s such as Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac, Ten Years After, Jethro Tull, Barclay James Harvest, Edgar Broughton Band, Free, Family, Genesis, Strawbs, Van Der Graaf Generator, Man and Yes begin their rise to prominence. Aside from featuring better known acts such as Jack Bruce, Thunderclap Newman, Procol Harum, Moody Blues, Taste, Fairport Convention, Colosseum, Michael Chapman and The Jeff Beck Group, this compilation also features lesser-known acts that produced fine work of a wide breadth such as Eyes of Blue, East of Eden, Blodwyn Pig, Locomotive, Mighty Baby, Pete Brown and The Deviants. This collection celebrates a creative period when rock music was evolving into something altogether more serious, moving away from the single as medium to give way to the dominance of the album. Open your ears to "Banquet - Underground Sounds of 1969."
Arthur Brown & Kingdom Come/Eternal Messenger: An Anthology 1970-1973 [Remastered & Expanded] ....import 5 CD Set $65.99
Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a new boxed set featuring all of the albums recorded by the legendary Arthur Brown & Kingdom Come issued between October 1971 and April 1973. The band came together in 1970 following Arthur Brown's failed attempt to form a new band upon the disillusion of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown in 1969. Based in rural Dorset, Arthur had undertaken rudimentary recordings with the bands The Puddletown Express and Rustic Hinge before forming a new, more satisfactory band Kingdom Come. The initial group came together with a line-up of Arthur Brown (vocals), Bob Ellwood (guitars), Dave Ambrose (bass), Rob Tait (drums) and Pete Bailey (percussion) to record a lengthy jam session in the studio. This tape was impressive enough to lead to a contract with Polydor Records, and the album Galactic Zoo Dossier was the first album by the band. Issued in October 1971, the album featured Arthur Brown joined by Andy Dalby (lead guitar / vocals), Michael "Goodge" Harris (keyboards), Desmond Fisher (bass), Julian Brown (VCS3 Synthesiser) and Martin Steer (drums). The band's debut album was a conceptual work loosely based upon the subject of humanity living in a zoo and subject to cosmic forces. As a group, Kingdom Come took the mantle from where the Crazy World of Arthur Brown had left off, presenting a highly theatrical show which utilised the VCS 3 synthesiser and presented a form of experimental rock music which was far ahead of it's time. This led to them becoming a popular act on the festival circuit (their memorable appearance at the 1971 Glastonbury Fayre was captured in the documentary film of the same name). For the band's next album, 1972's Kingdom Come, Desmond Fisher departed and was replaced by Phil Shutt. The album was another conceptual work and built upon the impact of their debut. Soon after the album's release Martin Steer and Goodge Harris also departed the band. American musician Victor Peraino joined the group on Mellotron, VCS3 and Theramin and Brown opted to utilise the Bentley Rhythm Ace drum machine instead of a drummer, bringing a new electronic direction to Kingdom Come's highly inventive space rock. This incarnation of the band recorded their final and finest album in the Autumn of 1972, the highly influential Journey. Issued in April 1973 the album was a superb conceptual work and featured such legendary material as "Time Captives," "Spirit of Joy" and "Come Alive." Despite the excellence of the album, Kingdom Come disbanded soon after the album's release leaving an impressive legacy. This new remastered boxed set features the albums "Galactic Zoo Dossier," "Kingdom Come" and "Journey," along with the archive disc "Jam - The First Sessions 1970" and "At the BBC 1971-1972" a twelve track CD featuring sessions recorded for the BBC between March 1971 and September 1972, nine tracks of which are previously unreleased. The set also adds thirteen bonus tracks (two previously unreleased on CD) taken from studio out-takes and a rare single. Also included is an illustrated booklet with new essay featuring an exclusive interview with Arthur Brown and a replica poster. "Eternal Messenger" is a fine tribute to Arthur Brown, a unique and visionary musician.
Roger Chapman/Life in the Pond ....CD $15.99
A studio album by Roger Chapman is always an event. Since '66, when the British singer-songwriter emerged as the voice of his generation with the seminal Family band, through every twist of his four-decade solo career, Chappo's output has defied music industry protocol, challenged genre, and held up a mirror to the times. "I've never stopped writing," he reflects, "and with Life in the Pond, I felt the need to hear what I'd put down in music." Released in 2021 on Ruf Records and Chappo Music, Life in the Pond draws a line under a period in which the 79-year-old had been absent from the studio but privately prolific. Twelve years since 2009's acclaimed rarities collection Hide Go Seek, "A true lionheart still roars," enthused The Mirror, Life in the Pond reconnects the veteran with faces from his past - including ex-Family multi-instrumentalist John 'Poli' Palmer as co-writer and producer - while taking the pulse of modern life. "Mostly it's anger at politicians that's kept me fired up," says Chapman of the lyrics. "But I'm also influenced by daily happenings, world news, people, acquaintances. It's all in the lyrics." As for the music, Life in the Pond joins the dots between Chapman's founding influences. "It's about nostalgia for the different musical styles that influenced my life. American rock from the '50s to now. British R'n'B from the '60s, like Georgie Fame, The Stones, Zoot Money. Folk, blues, Motown, Stax, Blue Note jazz, Classical, Americana, and Country. A whole mess of influences..." That eclectic roll call won't surprise anyone who has followed Chappo through his fascinating career. Born in the Midlands city of Leicester, he told the Rock Legacy site that "I wasn't interested in the English version of rock 'n' roll. All my heroes were American, like Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, and Gene Vincent - that was the real stuff."

Pretty Things/Live at the BBC ....import 6 CD Box Set $85.99
This is the one to have! Together for the first time on one 6-CD collection. One of the all-time great British '60s bands - The Pretty Things Live at he BBC! Boxed set comprised of 3 digisleeved packages each containing 2 CDs. Over seven hours of audio - restored and remastered, 50-page booklet with liner notes by Richard Morton Jack featuring archive memorabilia and photos. Features a recent interview by Chris Welch with founder member and guitarist Dick Taylor. In the golden age of the British R&B revival, few groups created as much excitement and controversy as The Pretty Things. They came up alongside the Rolling Stones in the early 1960s, but were deemed by critics and fans as wilder and bluesier than even Mick Jagger and company. When long-haired Phil May sang and shook his maracas with manic intensity, audiences and record buyers knew they were in for a wild ride. But The Pretty Things took their music seriously and developed into one of the more innovative rock bands of the '70s, much admired by groups and artists from Led Zeppelin to David Bowie. As well as recording hit singles and albums, the Pretties were also heard live in action on BBC radio shows that captured their dynamic performances with remarkable clarity and presence. We are fortunate that this audio heritage has been carefully preserved and has now been digitally restored for future generations to enjoy. The Residents/El Ano del Muerto ....import CD $19.99
The Residents are an American art collective best known for their over 60 studio albums that were recorded over a period of over forty years. They also created some outstanding multimedia works, mainly three CD-ROM projects and ten DVDs. Working as an anonymous collective, their identitites were kept secret until in 2017 Hardy Fox revealed himself as their primary composer. Hardy died in October 2018, but the group continue to record and perform. Recently, several new albums have been released, among them the brilliant Intruders and Ghost of Hope. Early in 2020, the group was invited to perform their seminal album God in 3 Persons at the MOMA in New York. El Ano del Muerto is a compilation of mostly previously released material spanning The Residents' entire career up to 2009. It opens with a new track, "I Can't Get No (Spot)," a mash-up of "The Cry of the Crow" (from the 1993 EP Prelude To "The Teds") with the lyrics from Snakefinger's 1979 single "The Spot." Due to the album's similarities with the Talking Light setlist, the album has retroactively acted as a sort of teaser for the tour. It is also theorized that the album showcases an early planned setlist for the show. Previously only available as download from RSD, this is the first time this great release is available on CD.
Fourth Wall Quartet/1975 ....CD $15.99
The brothers Miller grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They came of age during the Summer of Love. By 1969 they were engaged in freeform rock improvisations and started their first all-original rock band Sproton Layer. During this time, they would see the MC5 at a free concert in the afternoon, then head over to the University of Michigan New Music department to hear Stockhausen at night. In 1975 the three brothers attended a small Art School. The Fourth World Quartet, with school-mate Jack Waterstone rounding out the quartet, was born out of their mash-up of colliding interests in free improvisation, classical music and jazz. All members composed, ranging from fully scored pieces to graphic scores. Laurence arranged the Art Ensemble of Chicago's "Tnoona" for the group and Roger arranged the main theme from Igor Stravinsky's mini-opera "Renard the Fox." The boundaries were wide open. In a few months the band put together this repertoire, a testament to focus and extreme creative activity. By 1977 punk rock had kicked in, and Laurence (guitar) and Benjamin (alto sax) went back to their rock roots and joined the Detroit punk band Destroy All Monsters which included Ron Ashton from the Stooges and Michael Davis from the MC5. In 1979, Roger co-formed Mission of Burma in Boston, which went on to be very influential on the indie rock movement. This is never-before heard music from a pivotal time period.

Patto/Give It All Away: Albums 1970-1973 ....import 4 CD Set $49.99
Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of Give It All Away - The Albums 1970 -1973, a re-mastered four-disc clamshell box set of the four albums recorded by the legendary band Patto between 1970 and 1973; Patto, Hold Your Fire, Roll 'Em, Smoke 'Em, Put Another Line Out and Monkey's Bum. One of the truly great bands of the early 1970s, Patto featured a line-up comprising Mike Patto (vocals), Ollie Halsall (guitar, vibes, keyboards, vocals), Clive Griffiths (bass) and John Halsey (drums). The band arose from the ashes of the group Timebox and were graced by the presence of the stunning guitar playing of Ollie Halsall and a highly original and unique musical style that set them aside from their progressive rock contemporaries of the era. This, the band's self-titled debut album, was released in 1970 under a licensing agreement with Vertigo Records and featured classic tracks such as 'The Man,' 'San Antone' and 'Government Man.' Their 1971 follow up, Hold Your Fire was perhaps their most fully realized and acclaimed work thanks to outstanding compositions such as 'You, You Point Your Finger,' 'Hold Your Fire' and 'Air Raid Shelter.' Departing Vertigo in 1972, Patto recorded the album Roll 'Em, Smoke 'Em, Put Another Line Out. Alas, despite receiving critical acclaim for their live appearances and recorded work, the release failed to make any sales impact. The band entered the studio in the spring of 1973 to record their final work, Monkey's Bum. Sadly, the album failed to gain an official release upon completion and was consigned to the vaults. A rough mix of the album was bootlegged several times over the ensuing years before Monkey's Bum finally received an official release in 2017. Give It All Away - The Albums 1970 -1973 is a fine collection of music, by an unfairly overlooked band, and this esteemed legacy - from one of Britain's most genuine and original bands - will go some way to rectify their status in rock history

"I am open to feedback and constructive criticism, no holds barred, but it must be remembered that this album is not intended to be comfortable, predictable or commercial!" The original album features in Steven Wilson's 'Top 10 Concept Albums You May Have Missed.' These recordings showcase an early incarnation of the band with Duane Allman in full form and featuring the three earliest known live concert recordings of "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed." The tapes were recorded just one year before the band's landmark At Fillmore East album from the same venue. Long out-of-print, the single-CD set was freshly restored and mastered from the original tapes captured by legendary Grateful Dead soundman, Owsley Stanley, a/k/a Bear, who is known for the purity of his "Sonic Journal" recordings. The Deluxe Edition three CD set includes all of Bear's recordings from these three historic sets, including never before released material from each performance. The mastering was done by Jeffrey Norman (Mockingbird Mastering), long-time collaborator with the Grateful Dead and Owsley Stanley.
Tim Buckley/Bear's Sonic Journals: Merry-Go-Round at the Carousel ....CD $17.99
This is the most important Tim Buckley release since Dream Letter, featuring a singular performance with a jazz-rock lineup that calls to mind Van Morrison's Astral Weeks. Buckley, father of Jeff Buckley, made his mark with his Southern California folk-rock sound and four-octave vocal range. But this rich weave of accessible, warm, improvisational music reveals Buckley in a light never before captured on tape, including two newly discovered songs ("Blues, Love" and "The Lonely Life"), early drafts of Buckley classics, and a stunning cover of Fred Neil's "Merry-Go-Round." Recorded by the Grateful Dead's legendary soundman Owsley "Bear" Stanley, this is one of the treasures of his Sonic Journal archive. Buckley's performance is incredible and Bear's thumbprint on the sonics is part of the magic! Featuring nearly 80 minutes of live performances from June 15 & 16, 1968 at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco, CA. This is a significant and rare addition to Tim Buckley's musical legacy for both the performance and excellent sound quality. A 28-page booklet includes original cover art by Dennis Larkins and liner notes featuring new interviews with bassist John Miller, lyricist Larry Beckett, and Buckley scholar Pat Thomas. With Tim Buckley on vocals and 12-string guitar, John Miller on bass, David Friedman on vibraphone, and Carter C.C. Collins on percussion. These tapes were transferred and mastered by Jeffrey Norman (Mockingbird Mastering), long-time collaborator with the Grateful Dead and Owsley Stanley.
Electric Flag/The Band Kept Playing ....CD $13.99
From Wounded Bird Records, in 1968 Mike Bloomfield left the Butterfield Blues Band to form the Electric Flag with Buddy Miles, Barry Goldberg & Nick Gravenites. The Samurai of Prog/The Lady and the Lion ....import CD $22.99

A few short months after 2020's "Beyond the Wardrobe" album, the core trio of Marco Bernard, Kimmo Porsti and Steve Unruh are joined - as is their way - by a cast of contributing artists and writers, this time crafting an album inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. The Samurai have become known in progressive rock circles for their symphonic prog creations, which feature lush and varied keyboard sounds, powerful picked bass guitar, dynamic drums, virtuosic violin and flute, and always mixed and mastered for audiophiles. This is a great addition fo TSoP's ever growing catalog of lovingly crafted new symphonic prog, rooted in the classics, but looking forward.

Rightly regarded as legends of progressive rock, the band have continued to evolve and have been keen to embrace the possibilities of the internet, using innovative ways to interact with listeners resulting in an incredibly loyal legion of fans around the world. One early example of this type of forward-thinking online fan-engagement was seen in 1999's Marillion.Com, which was one of these first internet based promotions whereby the band asked for fans to send them passport pictures of themselves, resulting in 732 pictures being used to make up the artwork for the slipcase for the record. With the majority of the album featuring mixing from Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree and the band taking care of the remaining songs, this was the band's last album of the '90s, but just the beginning of a more direct relationship with fans which has since developed and grown.
Marillion/Radiation ....import CD $18.99
Marillion formed in 1979 and have since sold over 15 million albums worldwide. Rightly regarded as legends of progressive rock, the band have continued to evolve and have been keen to embrace the possibilities of the internet, using innovative ways to interact with listeners resulting in an incredibly loyal legion of fans around the world. Radiation was the band's tenth studio album and debuted in the top 40 in the UK when it was originally released in 1998. The album saw the band abandon the acoustic approach of This Strange Engine and instead revisit a heavier sound previously found on Afraid of Sunlight. This change in sound as well as the experimentation with different instrument tones and vocal effects and samples led to a more pop sound than that previously heard from the group. The album was subsequently remixed and remastered by Michael Hunter in 2013 and issued alongside the original version. Kscope are now pleased to present a reissue of this highly regarded album on CD. The CD edition will include both the original 1998 version and the 2013 mixes.
Styx/Crash of the Crown ....CD $15.99
A new era of hope, survival, and prosperity comes calling on Styx's magnum opus, Crash of the Crown, the band's first studio album since 2017's The Mission. Though the 15-track album takes a hard look at some inherently dark subjects, the prevalent light at the end of the tunnel eventually becomes each song's focal point - a persistent fervor to keep moving forward and achieve the greater good. Featuring "Crash of the Crown," "Reveries" & more.
Dennis DeYoung/26 East Vol. 2 ....CD $14.99

Julie Driscoll/1969 ....CD $14.99
Recorded in 1969, but not released until 1971 on Polydor, this album was Julie Driscoll's first solo excursion after spending several years with and recording a number of albums with Brian Auger. Driscoll, later known as Julie Tippett, has been described as having one of the most powerful voices to come out of Britain in the 20th Century. The album features several players from the British jazz scene from the time and incorporates many of the jazz/rock elements she explored with Auger. But it also exudes a folk influence reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, but several years before Mitchell began including jazz in her music. So think: a Joni Mitchell sensibility with Aretha Franklin's voice. The album features piano work and horn arrangements by her future husband, the avant-guardist and brief King Crimson session playere, Keith Tippett which gives many of the tracks a decidedly edgy feel.

Commander Cody/Rock 'n Roll Again + Flying Dreams ....import CD $20.99
Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums on one CD. Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen is an American country rock band formed in 1967. The group's founder was George Frayne IV (alias Commander Cody) on keyboards and vocals. The band's style mixed country, rock 'n' roll, western swing, rockabilly, and jump blues together on a foundation of boogie-woogie piano. They were among the first country-rock bands to take their lead less from folk-rock and bluegrass and more from the rowdy bar room country of the Ernest Tubb and Ray Price style. The band became known for marathon live shows. Rock 'n Roll Again was released in 1977 and relies heavily on sidemen associated with New Riders of the Purple Sage, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Jefferson Starship. The production is enhanced by the presence of vocalist Nicolette Larson and her sidekick Charra Penny giving many of the tracks a strong female singing presence that works well with Commander Cody's own vocals. The set list marks something of a change in musical direction from the earlier influence of Western swing to a style more typical of a local bar band. Flying Dreams came the following year and is full of catchy tunes.
Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters & James Cotton/Great American Radio Vol 6 ....import 2 CD Set $21.99
This great value double CD is an in-concert recording made by Johnny Winter for the Boston radio station WBCN, and recorded at the Boston Music Hall, in Boston, Massachusetts, on 26th February 1977. By 1975, Winter had grown tired of working in the rock and roll mainstream and returned to his first musical love - The Blues. Teaming up with Muddy Waters he released the album Hard Again in January 1977 with this concert following shortly after. It is a wonderful, vivid, febrile encapsulation of a Bluesman enjoying his renewed career. With harmonica hero James Cotton on board, along with the bedrock of Waters' regular touring band, you get value-addedness to gems such as the Little Walter classic, "Help Me," which swings like a demon. There's a brisk romp through Freddie King's "Hideaway," before Winter takes the microphone on "Blues with a Feeling," burnishing the sound with his inimitable lead guitar sizzle. "Mannish Boy" is a gutsy delight with Waters' laconic vocal topping off the hearty bluesy crunch in magisterial style. Closing with a delightful "I Got My Mojo Working," this performance offers yet more proof that, even in his latter years, Muddy Waters was not content to freewheel through his stage performances.

This version features the brand new remix of the album from 2013 and bonus track 'Wintertell,' an unused song from the original writing sessions recorded during the remix.

He has been described by Ashley Hutchings as "the most influential [British] fiddle player bar none" and his style has been copied or developed by almost every British and many world folk violin players who have followed him.
Paul Gilbert/Werewolves of Portland ....CD $16.99
"Werewolves of Portland" is guitarist extraordinaire Paul Gilbert's new solo album, his sixteenth, on Mascot Label Group / The Players Club. Because the world went into lockdown early 2020, it wasn't possible to get a band to record in the studio. The result was that Paul plays all instruments on this album: drums (except for ONE snareroll that was too difficult to play), keyboards, bass, and of course guitar. As with Paul's previous album Behold Electric Guitar, the inspiration for the songs did not come from the guitar, but from writing lyrics and singing melodies. Paul explains: "The process of writing lyrics, then melody, then guitar, then backing it all up with the other instruments is a wonderful discovery that really started coming together for me on 'Behold Electric Guitar.'"

Erik Wollo/North Star ....CD $17.99
Renowned Norwegian ambient / electronic artist Erik Wollo presents North Star. The album evolved from layers of sustained guitars inspiring infinite space and a minimal essence, creating a spell of slow, melodic calming space. As a musical metaphor, the North Star represents limitless possibilities and infinite wonder with sparks of imagination from which dreams are formed. The sustained Ebow guitars aim the music in a totally new expansive direction with melodic elements, rhythmic arpeggio loops and some percussion added to the treated guitar ensembles. The mood sets the emotional direction: vast and spacious, minimalistic and sparse in character. North Star is an inward journey of stillness and reflection. Music that shifts between contemplation and intimacy, impulse and reflection.
Various Artists/Beyond the Pale Horizon: British Progressive Pop Sounds of 1972 ....import 3 CD Set $37.99
From a musical perspective, the seventies didn't really begin until 1972, when the sudden appearance of pioneering art-rock adventurers Roxy Music saw them spearhead a new generation of bands making the first genuinely post-Sixties music. But 1972 was also a year in which established blues and progressive rock bands found a new level of popularity. Free, Family, Thin Lizzy, Argent, The Moody Blues and a re-emergent Status Quo all issued pivotal hit singles, Mott the Hoople and Strawbs finally made commercial breakthroughs, Hawkwind took everyone by surprise with the success of "Silver Machine," while The Move completed their long-delayed metamorphosis into The Electric Light Orchestra. Away from the singles chart, underground behemoths like Yes and Uriah Heep continued to thrive, while the likes of Caravan, Home and Medicine Head were regulars on the college/university network. Kevin Coyne painted his harrowing masterpiece with the album 'Case History,' and the equally uncompromising Van der Graaf Generator made an unlikely bid for chart success with the single "Theme One." Boasting four hours of music and a lavishly annotated and illustrated 40-page booklet housed in a stylish clamshell box, Beyond the Pale Horizon features all of the above as well as the usual array of cult bands and obscure studio creations. We include a significant number of Top Ten singles, some glorious misses, a few turntable hits (including much-loved 45s by Pagliaro and Mike Hugg), superior B-sides and several key album tracks, together with a handful of cuts that didn't appear at the time or were only issued as limited edition private pressings - indeed, we even feature a previously unheard alternative recording of a track from 'Dark Round the Edges,' one of the most valuable albums of all time. It's all here, and, with the noble exception of Stackridge's vegetarian call-to-arms "Keep on Clucking," it's all meat.
Various Artists/The Best of the Bath Festivals ....import 3 CD Set $24.99
The Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music was a counterculture era music festival held at the Royal Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England on 27-29 June 1970. Bands such as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin performed, and the festival was widely bootlegged. An 'alternative festival' was staged in an adjoining field where the Pink Fairies and Hawkwind played on the back of a flatbed truck. Michael Eavis was attendant at the festival and was inspired to hold later that year the first event of what would become the Glastonbury festival of contemporary performing arts.

Jon Anderson/Olias of Sunhillow [Deluxe Edition] ....import CD + DVD Price $23.99
A 2021 remastered and expanded CD/DVD edition of the legendary 1976 solo album by Jon Anderson. The DVD features 96khz/24bit stereo master of the original mix plus a 5.1 'up-mix.' Includes a booklet featuring a comprehensive interview with Anderson about the making of his extraordinary and atmospheric album. Released in July 1976, Olias was a conceptual work recounting the story of an alien race on a journey to find a new world following volcanic destruction on their home planet. All music on the album was written and performed by Jon Anderson and the recording took place at Anderson's Buckinghamshire home studio whilst Yes were on hiatus following the tour to promote the album Relayer. Initially recorded on an 8-track tape machine, the arrangements were then re-recorded on to a 24-track tape machine. The album saw Jon perform the music entirely alone, teaching himself to play keyboards and acknowledging the influence of such legendary musicians as Rick Wakeman, Patrick Moraz and Vangelis on his work.
3.2/Third Impression ....CD $14.99
Robert Berry returns with a second 3.2 album, "Third Impression." The project is a continuation of the band 3, which Berry was in with Carl Palmer and the late great Keith Emerson. In October 2015, conversations about a new "3" album started between Robert Berry and Frontiers President, Serafino Perugino as Robert had been speaking to Keith Emerson about releasing the long delayed "3" follow up album. Along with renewed fan interest in the band and those conversations, Berry had sparked revived enthusiasm from Keith Emerson for pursuing the project. The exchange of musical ideas and song collaborations ultimately paved the groundwork for 3.2's first album, "The Rules Have Changed." Everything was set. Song ideas, studio time, record contract... and then, that dark day. Emerson's untimely death made the album an uncertainty. Robert was left with Keith Emerson's final musical ideas for the project. From old cassette tapes, keyboard parts written over the phone, to long discussions about style, the framework of the album was set and ready to be produced. After several months of grieving and contemplation about what to do with these co-written songs and musical fragments from Emerson, Robert decided to resume work on the material that was created and craft a record that would ultimately be a fitting tribute to Keith Emerson's musical legacy and at the same time re-energize and update the musical style started with '3' some 30 years ago. The final result was 3.2, a reboot of the original "3" project. The debut album released in 2018 is a record that deserves to be heard by each and every fan of the great Keith Emerson and includes some exquisite musical parts. And the follow up, Third Impression, is no lesser than it's predecessor, mixing epic songs with more melodic and AOR moments. It's final track, the nine minute 'Never,' is one more Emerson/Berry original with Keith's trademark style all over it.
Soft Machine/Paris 1970 ....2 CD Set $24.99
Soft Machine, live from the Theatre de la Musique, Paris on March 2nd, 1970. Despite their gradual dissolution in the late '70s, Soft Machine's stock has never been higher thanks to a steady stream of archival recordings that continue to surface and throw light on the importance of varying line-ups. The quintet version of the band, captured at the Theatre de la Musique, Paris on March 2nd, 1970 for France's Pop Deux TV show features that short lived and often lamented line-up of Lyn Dobson and Elton Dean on their respective reeds accompanying the obligatory Hopper, Ratledge, and Wyatt. The Paris date in March caught Dobson near the end of his tenure which came two weeks later. Suffice to say, the historical value of this recording is undoubted while rooted in the five-man line-up that was joyous, but sadly all too brief. London Calling bends your ear with a rare, captivating performance from our beloved Softs, live in Paris, 1970. Covering their first two albums and songs exclusive to performances from this period. Includes the entire Pop Deux TV broadcast. Visually interesting, but moreover, stunning to hear. Personnel: Mike Ratledge- Lowrey organ, Hohner pianet; Robert Wyatt - drums, vocals; Hugh Hopper - bass; Elton Dean - alto sax, Saxello; Lyn Dobson- soprano sax, flute, voice, harmonica. Includes full color, eight-page booklet with background liners and rare images. Digitally remastered for greatly enhanced sound quality.

Jon Anderson/Animation [Remastered & Expanded Edition] ....import CD $20.99
Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the 1982 solo album by Jon Anderson, Animation. The album was recorded throughout 1981 during Jon's first hiatus from Yes, with whom he had become an internationally known vocalist and songwriter and followed on from his acclaimed albums Olias of Sunhillow and Song of Seven. Working with co-producer Neil Kernon and a host of talented musicians such as David Scancious, Clem Clempson, Simon Phillips, Stefano Cerri, Chris Rainbow, Jack Bruce and Dave Lawson, Anderson created an album that absorbed the latest electronic instrument technology whilst retaining an ambitious and progressive edge. Animation was a UK top fifty hit upon it's release by Polydor Records in June 1982 and spawned two UK singles, of which the non-album track 'Spider' acted, strangely, as a B-side to both releases. Animation has since become a favourite album among aficionados of Jon Anderson's work. This Esoteric Recordings edition has been newly remastered from the original Polydor Records master tapes and is expanded to include the single B-side track 'Spider' and also a demo from the early 1980s of the lengthy piece 'The Spell.' This reissue restores the original album artwork in a digipack and the booklet features a new essay with an exclusive interview with Jon Anderson.

The Lyrics of Syd Barrett ....Hardcover Book $22.99
Despite just a three-year tenure with the band, co-founder Syd Barrett's influence on Pink Floyd was profound and long-lasting. If his guitar gave the early Pink Floyd a distinctive hallucinatory sound, his often obscure and surreal lyrics were perhaps even more intoxicating. The complete lyrics of Syd Barrett - 52 songs written for Pink Floyd and during his subsequent solo career - are presented together for the first time, along with rare photos and artwork, to form this beautifully illustrated book. Compiled in collaboration with the Syd Barrett estate, and featuring a foreword from former Pink Floyd manager Peter Jenner and a comprehensive introduction by biographer Rob Chapman, The Lyrics of Syd Barrett delves deep into one of rock'n'roll's most imaginative and searing minds.

Lol Coxhill/Coxhill '85 ....import CD $23.99
Previously unreleased recording of a classic Lol Coxhill solo gig, which sees Lol playing soprano and sopranino saxophones. This CD has preserved his informal dialogue during the concert - an important element of any Lol performance. Lol Coxhill was a unique entertainer, and this is a unique performance from a musician whose music truly knew no stylistic boundaries. There was no such thing as a typical Coxhill gig. Anything could happen at any time, and frequently did. Although primarily regarded as a free improvisor, Lol never really fitted in with the improvised music scene. If indeed he drew from this particular musical well, he also drew from many other sources and would introduce these into an improvisation at any point that he felt was appropriate, moving in an instant from fierce abstraction to a remembered melody or song. The music here was recorded informally, in June 1985, at Gibbs Jazz Club, Cardiff where Lol was booked for two nights. Throughout the concert Lol was perched upon a stool, looking relaxed and ready to play. If some of the audience were not quite sure what to expect, Lol won them over at first with his ability as natural raconteur and then with his music. In the programme Lol also plays some delightful solos on sopranino saxophone, something he did far too infrequently.

Global Village Trucking Company/Smiling Revolution: Remastered Anthology ....import 2 CD Set $23.99
Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a new re-mastered 2 disc anthology by Global Village Trucking Company, "Smiling Revolution." Between March 1972 and their final performance at The Nottingham Boat Club in August 1975, the Global Village Trucking Company played 390 gigs. In that time, they gained many friends, fans and admirers. A Global Village gig was always a special occasion, full of unexpected moments and often passages of true inspiration. They were constantly pushing and stretching the boundaries, with a huge appetite for improvisation that often took them to giddy musical heights. It was for good reason that they were frequently referred to as Britain's answer to the Grateful Dead. And amongst this there was also a lot of damn fine playing, a repertoire of outstanding songs, a charismatic frontman, and an ability to take the audience with them to wherever they chose to go that night. They never lost sight of giving people a good time, and very few people left a show without a smile on their face. In that three and a half year period the key line up of the band was singer, chief songwriter and rhythm guitarist Jon Owen, James Lascelles on keyboards, drummer Simon Stewart, Michael Medora on lead guitar, and John McKenzie on bass. Aside from being stalwarts of the UK gig circuit and festival scene, Global Village Trucking Company recorded a series of sessions for the legendary DJ John Peel. Their communal life at Beehive Cottage in the Norfolk countryside attracted the interest of the BBC, who made a documentary on the band, By Way of a Change. The group made their first appearance on record in January 1974 on the album Greasy Truckers Live at Dingwall's Dance Hall, a live double album at an event staged by the alternative music and events promoters which also featured Henry Cow, Camel and Gong. Following this Global Village Trucking Company recorded their only album at Rockfield Studios intended for release on a new label to be established by Dave Robinson (later founder of Stiff Records). The proposed record company failed to materialize and by the summer of 1975 the band had called it a day and an arrangement was made with Virgin Records to release the album posthumously on Virgin's Caroline label. Forty years on, Smiling Revolution has been compiled by the band and gathers together the band's legendary album as originally intended, their tracks from the Greasy Truckers release, John Peel session tracks and other previously unreleased delights, all superbly remastered by acclaimed producer Robin Millar. It also features lavishly illustrated booklets and an absorbing essay detailing the story of this unique group. The band's star shone briefly, but it shone bright. They touched the lives of many. Those who enjoyed them back then will relish the opportunity to relive that now. And for those discovering the music for the first time - welcome to the world of the Global Village Trucking Company!
Grateful Dead/Road Trips Vol.2 No.3 - Wall of Sound ....2 CD Set $41.99
Dead chronicler Dennis McNally's liner notes to this Road Trip are a must-read, succinctly expounding upon how Bear's vision of creating a sound system free of distortion morphed into a 641-speaker monster (there's a great picture of it inside the booklet) that required three trucks to transport and five hours to set up, almost bankrupting the band and causing them to retire from the road for almost two years. But it was truly a singular sonic achievement, one that, as McNally puts it, 'allowed the band to go places they'd only dreamed of.' The two shows excerpted on this two CD set, 6/16/74 at the State Fairgrounds in Des Moines and 6/18/74 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, beautifully illustrate the point: with a PA this loud, the band could play softer, freeing them to mesh ever more subtly and intricately. The Des Moines 'Eyes of the World' is simply definitive, and the Louisville medley of 'Weather Report Suite'/'Jam'/'The Other One'/'It's a Sin Jam'/'Stella Blue' is one-of-a-kind. Steve Hackett/Under a Mediterranean Sky ....CD $16.99
Iconic guitarist Steve Hackett, releases his new acoustic album Under a Mediterranean Sky via InsideOut Music. Under a Mediterranean Sky is Steve Hackett's first acoustic solo album since Tribute in 2008 and takes inspiration from Steve's extensive travels around the Mediterranean with his wife Jo. Working closely with long-time musical partner Roger King, Hackett has used his time during 2020's lockdown to take us on an extraordinary musical journey around the Mediterranean, painting vivid images of stunning landscapes and celebrating the diverse cultures of the region. Famed for his rock roots with Genesis, and through his extensive solo catalogue, Hackett demonstrates the exquisite beauty of the nylon guitar at times venturing into the exotic ethnic and often supported by dazzling orchestral arrangements. "A lot of acoustic ideas had been forming over the years, and it felt like the perfect time to create this album," notes Hackett, "a time to contemplate the places we've visited around the Mediterranean with the kind of music which evolved from the world of imagination. Because we can't really travel substantially at the moment, I hope that the album will take people on that journey. Whether you sit down and listen to it or drift off to it with a glass of wine..."

Jean-Michel Jarre/Amazonia ....import CD $24.99
Jean-Michel Jarre has composed and recorded a 52 minute musical score for 'Amazonia,' a new project by award winning photographer and filmmaker Sebastiao Salgado, for the Philharmonic Paris. The exhibition launches on April 7th and will later travel to South America, Roma and London. 'Amazonia' is an immersive exhibition focussing on the Brazilian Amazon, featuring more than 200 photographs and other media by Salgado. He travelled the region for six years, capturing the forest, the rivers, the mountains and the people who live there, and most of the work will be seen publicly for the first time. At the heart of the exhibit is an invitation to see, hear and think about the future of biodiversity and the place of humans in the living world. JMJs accompanying sound-creation is a symphonic world which will engulf visitors to the exhibit in the sounds of the forest. Using a blend of electronic and orchestral instruments with other real-life natural sounds, the score has also been recorded in binaural audio, for a truly immersive experience. "I wanted to avoid the ethnomusicological approach, or creating background music. So I conceived a sort of toolbox containing musical elements - orchestral and electronic - intended to recreate or evoke the timbre of natural sounds, to which I added sounds from the environment, and finally ethnic sources (voices, songs, and instruments) from the sound archives of the Ethnography Museum of Geneva (MEG). I approached the Amazon with respect, in a poetic and impressionistic way. I chose the vocal and sound elements in their evocative dimension, rather than trying to be faithful to a particular ethnic group. It seemed interesting to me to fantasize the forest. It carries with it a powerful imagination; for both Westerners and Amerindians. This music also evokes a form of nomadism, as if sounds appear and disappear during a migration. It was necessary to go back to the principles of orchestration of the sounds of nature, to work from sounds which follow one another randomly, but which can compose a harmony or a dissonance. And as in any symphony, the work has moments of clarity or tension." The CD & VINYL come with an access code to download the Binaural Sound and 5.1. Sound.

Kayak/Out of this World ....CD $17.99
Titled Out of this World, the upcoming album from the iconic Dutch progressive rock band is the follow-up to 2018's Seventeen and is scheduled to be released in via InsideOut Music. The upcoming album will be the band's eighteenth full-length effort. Speaking about the upcoming album, founding member Ton Scherpenzeel says, "Many people seem to consider the past year as a lost year, due to Covid-19. I don't. I am not saying it was great, but it made me realize, once more, how fragile we all are. How connected everything and everyone is, with actions and consequences that touch us all. And that, on a smaller scale, and much closer to home, the new Kayak album could only have turned out the way it did. More than ever, it is clear that working with each other on this level can never be taken for granted. It requires dedication, and respect for each other's talents and input. That's the foundation upon which Kayak in 2021 is built."

When you press play, it steamrolls you." Available in a variety of formats, including 2 CD in digipak, a limited 2 CD/Blu-Ray Artbook edition, and a deluxe opaque hot pink 3LP/2CD/Blu-Ray boxset.

Missing Persons/Spring Session M [2021 Remastered & Expanded Edition] ....CD $15.99
Formed in 1980 by the core trio of Dale and Terry Bozzio along with Warren Cuccurullo (all Frank Zappa alumni), Missing Persons perfectly fit into the New Wave movement. With her quirky singing style and colorful homemade attire, Dale Bozzio created a unique image that was both ear and eye candy. Husband Terry brought powerhouse drumming to their sound that added immediate credibility. Future Duran Duran guitarist Warren brought a rocking guitar sound that could either provide a melodic accompaniment or blistering solo, all with a distinctive sound that was very much his own. Released in late 1982, the full length debut album Spring Session M (an anagram for the band's name) became an instant hit, eventually achieving Gold status. Now including additional members Patrick O'Hearn (another Zappa alumnus) and Chuck Wild on bass and keyboards, the music videos for the hit singles Words and Destination Unknown were put into heavy rotation on MTV. Two additional chart singles, Windows and Walking in L.A., were also released. Rubellan Remasters is proud to reissue the full catalog of the original Missing Persons. Dynamically remastered from original master tapes from the Universal Music tape archive, Spring Session M not only includes the original 12 album tracks, but has been expanded to include the additional songs from the debut EP, including one of their signature tunes Mental Hopscotch.
Pierre Moerlen's Gong/Downwind ....import CD $21.99
Eagerly awaited re-press - digitally remastered edition of this acclaimed album by Pierre Moerlen's Gong. By the late 1970s, percussionist Pierre Moerlen had taken over the leadership of Gong and had steered the band away from psychedelic space rock and took the band into a jazz rock direction, one in which the band excelled. After recording several albums with Virgin, with the band now featured Hansford Rowe on bass, Ross Record on guitar, Benoit Moerlen on vibes and Francois Causse on percussion. Moerlen signed with Arista Records in 1978 and recorded this excellent album partially in Mike Oldfield's studio. Oldfield guested on the superb lengthy title track with fellow guest Steve Winwood, whilst Mick Taylor appeared on the track 'What You Know.' This edition has been remastered from the original analogue master tapes and fully restores the original album artwork.

Includes a never released Halsall composition "I'm Baroque" about their foreshortened tour of Australia supporting Joe Cocker. The previously unreleased footage includes the 'Pop Deux' broadcast from French TV and the full session for German TV's 'Beat Club' with blistering performances of "San Antone" and "The Man" - a song featured in the film Observe and Report. For a band whose legacy only continues to grow, historical recordings such as these are valuable treasures that surpasses any sonic limitations.
Annette Peacock/X-Dreams ....CD $17.99
Arriving in 1978, X-Dreams is an infatuating and resolutely feminine free-form exploration of the politics and dynamics of sex. Assembling a crew of 22 musicians (including Mick Ronson on guitar and Bill Bruford on drums), Peacock delivers impassioned vocal performances alongside an improvisational jazz-rock fusion masterpiece of musicianship, almost all of which was recorded in one take.
Pinder Brothers/Melancholy Sea ....CD $15.99
The Pinder Brothers' new 'Melancholy Sea' makes waves with sing-a-long melodies and crafty alt-rock rrrangements. Sons of Moody Blues founding member Mike Pinder carry on the tradition, as their own SoCal followers continue to burgeon. The Pinder Brothers may not be the first pair of siblings to proffer an intrinsic fusion of vocal harmonies, but add to the mix crafty sing-a-long melodies and enough of a rock edge to engage the masses. That is the musical mantra of these brothers in arms' third full-length release "Melancholy Sea." Of course, the many current fans of Matthew and Michael Lee are already aware of one other essential factor. Let's call it pedigree. Their dad Mike Pinder was a founding member of the legendary Moody Blues, who not only fulfilled the enduring band's mellotron duties, but also contributed harmony vocals. The Pinder Brothers mesh the harmonies of Crosby, Stills and Nash alongside the songwriting style of Simon & Garfunkel, and ultimately add their own modern spin. Listeners will hear all of this and more in "Melancholy Sea," which the pair wrote, played and arranged. The project's masterfully penned lyrics create a sonic tapestry that dazzles the ear....much like the colors of a seashell inspire the eye. The brothers' voices harmonize beautifully, accompanied by arrangements that deftly ease from a bed of crunchy electric guitars into warm overdriven tones that layer as naturally as sheets and a blanket. It could be said that The Pinder Brothers have '60s Brit-rock heritage in their DNA, with a healthy dose of California style thrown in. Hailing from Northern California, Matt and Michael Pinder grew up playing music and performing together whenever possible. How could they not, with the sounds of the lost chord echoing softly in their ears. Thankfully, Mike Pinder's innate talent has been passed on to his sons - who are now creating their own legacy.

Porcupine Tree/Fear of a Blank Planet ....import CD $14.99
Fear of a Blank Planet, originally released in 2007, is the ninth studio album by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree and their best selling before 2009's The Incident. Steven Wilson has mentioned that the album's title is a direct reference to the 1990 Public Enemy album Fear of a Black Planet; while the former tackled race issues, the latter is about the fear of losing the current generation of youth to various common threats to their mental and social wellbeing, including broken homes, excessive "screen time," and narcotic overuse (prescribed and otherwise) to the point of mental and spiritual "blankness." Special guests include King Crimson's Robert Fripp and Rush's Alex Lifeson. Reissued by Snapper Classics UK.
Rare Bird/Beautiful Scarlet: Recordings 1969-1975 ....import 6 CD Set $59.99
Digitally remastered six CD set featuring all of the albums and singles released by legendary band Rare Bird on both the Charisma and Polydor labels between 1969 and 1975. Formed in 1969 with a line up featuring Graham Field (organ), Dave Kaffinetti (keyboards), Steve Gould (vocals, bass) and Mark Ashton (drums), Rare Bird had the distinction of being the first act to be released on Tony Stratton Smith's gloriously eclectic label Charisma records (also the home of Genesis, The Nice and Van Der Graaf Generator to name but a few) and for their excellent self-titled debut album released in late 1969 and their 1970 international hit single Sympathy. Despite selling a million copies worldwide, neither their debut album or the excellent follow up As Your Mind Flies By (issued in 1970) enjoyed the sales of their debut single. This lack of commercial success saw the departure of Graham Field and Mark Ashton, leaving Gould and Kaffinetti to form a new line-up in 1971 adding Andy "Ced" Curtis (lead guitar), Fred Kelly (drums) and Paul Karas (bass, vocals) to the band, with Steve Gould undertaking the role of second guitarist in addition to that of vocalist. Signing to Polydor Records in late 1971, Rare Bird recorded the excellent album Epic Forest the following year. The album was lavishly packaged with early copies featuring a poster and a bonus 7-inch EP with three additional tracks. In 1973 the band changed line-ups once more with departure of Paul Karas. He was replaced by Nic Potter (previously with Van Der Graaf Generator) and the band recorded the fine album Somebody's Watching the same year. The album featured guest John Wetton on bass for the track "Dollars." Despite the excellence of the band's work, commercial success still eluded them. In 1974 Andy Rae replaced Nic Potter on bass and Rare Bird recorded their final album, Born Again. The release of the album led to touring activity, including a memorable spot opening for label mates Barclay James Harvest at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in June 1974. However, the following year Rare Bird disbanded. This new anthology features newly re-mastered versions of all of Rare Bird's albums and singles, with Epic Forest being re-mastered from recently discovered first generation master tapes for the first time. The set also features an additional previously unreleased CD of the band's entire live set recorded by Polydor Records at the Theatre Royal, London in June 1974. Also included is an illustrated booklet featuring exclusive interviews with Steve Gould and Mark Ashton and a facsimile of the rare poster given with initial copies of Epic Forest.
The Residents/Gingerbread Man [pREServed Edition] ....3 CD Set $23.99
Formed in the early 1970s, The Residents have been charting a unique path through the musical landscape for almost fifty years. From far-out, experimental recordings to highly conceptual, innovative multi-platform projects, the band refuses to stand still, and continues to move in several different directions at once. Produced with The Cryptic Corporation using archival tapes supplied by the group themselves, this package explores and expands the classic 1994 album - another series of character studies, based on the suitably weird 1875 fairy tale - alongside the contemporary 'Hunters' OST recording, an instrumental suite composed to accompany the 1995 TV show of the same name. Disc Two also includes, in full, the previously unreleased 'Fat Boy' tape, a collection of material compiled by the group in early 1994 and either adapted and incorporated into 'Gingerbread Man' and 'Hunters' or quickly forgotten .... until now. Remastered, expanded, packed with previously unheard music and pREServed for future generations - this is The Residents as we've always wanted to hear them, and the latest in a series of archival reissues that will continue throughout 2021 and beyond. Look out for forthcoming 'Wormwood' and 'Icky Flix' sets. The Residents will, of course, be resuming their sure-to-be-smash 'Dog Stab' world tour the moment normality is resumed.

Steve Roach/As It Is ....CD $15.99
As a sonic continuation and response to last year's optimistic Tomorrow, As It Is is a revelatory experience of mystical, captivating electronic music. It travels the soul's pathway of renewal following the dramatic year we've just emerged from. Filled with texture and subtle nuance, this is a spacious album of organic analog electronic music with a breath and heartbeat - a simmering, churning, moving appointment with reality. Within secluded deeply personal spaces, suspended soundworlds place the listener in the center of life's mystery, awe, excitement, pathos, sadness, longing, and power. As It Is takes a bold step deeper into the time - and space - altering realms Steve has pioneered over all these many decades.
Soft Works/Abracadabra in Osaka ....2 CD Set $28.99
Elton Dean: saxello, alto sax, Fender Rhodes
Allan Holdsworth: guitar
Hugh Hopper: bass guitar
John Marshall: drums
The idea of Soft Works first arose in 2000 as an initiate of Leonardo Pavkovic, to revive and reconnect some of the great musicians who had played in Soft Machine. Soft Works, with the above line up, was the first solid iteration of this idea, although the band wasn't long lived and recorded one studio album and played only 11 concerts. Eventually, with some lineup shifts, the band became Soft Machine Legacy and now are known simply as Soft Machine. This is a great live documentation of four extraordinary and legendary players touching on their legacy, but generally performing new music, from their studio album. Dedicated to the loving memory of Elton Dean, Hugh Hopper and Allan Holdsworth. With love, John Marshall and Leonardo Pavkovic. Recorded live in Osaka, August 11, 2003. 28 page booklet.

Strawbs/Settlement ....import CD $18.99
Strawbs/Settlement [180 Gram Vinyl] ....import Vinyl LP $34.99
Esoteric Antenna is delighted to announce the release of the new studio album by the legendary band Strawbs. Settlement is the latest album recorded by Strawbs, more than 50 years on from the band's first major label release. The album comes at a time of political and social upheaval, which the lyrics and melodies of the songs reflect. Undeterred by the fact that 'business as usual' was not possible because of the global Covid-19 pandemic - working remote from one another, from their own home studios - Settlement is a remarkable achievement. David Cousins, leader of Strawbs says: "Settlement is something extraordinary. I can't think of another band who can go from metal grunge to the lilt of an Irish ghost story - or from a song in 6/8 time to singing in 4/4 over a 5/4 backbeat - in half an hour. The lyrics reflect the times we have been living through and I'm immensely proud of what we've achieved." Settlement is produced by Blue Weaver who played with Strawbs and Bee Gees in their 1970s heydays. The recording was coordinated from Blue's studio in Germany, where he now lives. Strawbs are David Cousins, Dave Lambert, Chas Cronk, Tony Fernandez and Dave Bainbridge. Special guests on the album are John Ford, another former member of Strawbs, who lives in New York, Cathryn Craig, with her lovely voice and unmistakable Southern lilt, who lives in Northern Ireland, and bass player Schalk Joubert, with whom David Cousins performed in South Africa at the beginning of the year. "There comes a time when every Settlement is due!"
