Van der Graaf Generator/Interference Patterns: The Recordings 2005-2016 ....import 13 CD + DVD NTSC Region 0 Box Set $119.99
14 disc limited edition boxed set featuring all of the recordings by Van Der Graaf Generator issued between 2005 and 2016. Featuring 13 CDs and an NTSC/Region Free DVD. It includes the albums 'Present,' 'Real Time,' 'Trisector,' 'Live at the Paradiso,' 'A Grounding in Numbers,' 'Alt,' 'Merlin Atmos' and 'Do Not Disturb' plus rare additional live recordings issued only in Japan and the DVD 'Live at the Paradiso.' Van der Graaf Generator were one of the most original and inspiring bands of the 1970s. When Peter Hamill, Hugh Banton, Guy Evans and David Jackson announced their reformation in 2005 to perform concerts and to record a new album, it took many by surprise, but the group proved they were still making relevant and truly progressive music. Their reunion would not be a short-lived affair, as VdGG continued to record a series of excellent studio and live albums despite the departure of David Jackson in late 2005 following the release of the album 'Present.' Over the next ten years VdGG issued a string of albums and toured as the mood took them. This boxed set celebrates this second era of Van der Graaf Generator with all of the albums issued by the band between 2005 and 2016 and includes the long deleted live double album and concert DVD 'Live at the Paradiso' and the rare additional live CD previously issued only on the limited Japanese release of 'Real Time.' 'Interference Patterns' includes a 96-page book with an extensive new essay and band interviews by Sid Smith and features each album in replica album sleeves.

Pink Floyd/Animals [2018 Remix Deluxe Edition] ....LP + CD + DVD + Blu-Ray Box Set $99.99
Animals 2018 Remix - The iconic 1977 Pink Floyd album has been remixed for the first
time by James Guthrie. Animals is a concept album, focusing on the social-political
conditions of mid-1970s Britain, and was a change from the style of the band's earlier
work. The album was developed from a collection of unrelated songs into a concept which
describes the apparent social and moral decay of society, likening the human condition to
that of animals. Taking inspiration from George Orwell's Animal Farm, the album depicts
the different classes of people as animals with pigs being at the top of the social chain,
dropping down to the sheep as the mindless herd following what they are told, with dogs as
the business bosses getting fat on the money and power they hold over the other. Although
it's been a long time since 1977, the narrative of the album still resonates today as our
social and economic situation mirrors that of the time.

Pink Floyd/Hey Hey Rise Up + A Great Day for Freedom ....CD Single $8.99
Pink Floyd will release their first newly recorded music in over 25 years, 'Hey Hey Rise Up.' The single was initially released digitally in April in support of the people of Ukraine and was #1 in 29 countries. The CD single features a newly reworked version of 'A Great Day for Freedom' from the band's 1994 album, The Division Bell. The track sees David Gilmour and Nick Mason joined by long time Pink Floyd bass player Guy Pratt, with Nitin Sawhney on keyboards and a lead vocal by Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Ukrainian band Boombox. It also has vocal harmonies by Romany and David Gilmour. When the track was first recorded at the end of March, Andriy, who left his band's US tour to return home and fight for his country, was in a hospital bed in Kyiv recovering from a shrapnel injury. Proceeds for the physical release and the ongoing digital proceeds will go to Ukraine humanitarian relief. For this limited edition release, David Gilmour revisited The Division Bell track 'A Great Day for Freedom.' He has reworked the song using the original tapes which, as well as David, feature Nick Mason on drums and Richard Wright on keyboards along with backing vocals from Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine and Durga McBroom. The artwork for the track 'The Sunflower Look' features a painting of the national flower of Ukraine with a twist by the Cuban artist Yosan Leon. The cover is a direct reference to the woman who was seen around the world giving sunflower seeds to Russian soldiers and telling them to carry them in their pockets, so that when they die sunflowers will grow.

The album was the band's first for EMI's Harvest and featured a line-up of Mike Ratledge (keyboards), Karl Jenkins (oboe, piano, soprano sax), John Marshall (drums), Roy Babbington (bass) and Allan Holdsworth (guitar). Bill Nelson's Red Noise/Sound on Sound [Remastered &
Expanded] ....import 2 CD Set $27.99
Bill Nelson's Red Noise/Art | Empire | Industry: The Complete Red Noise ....import 4 CD + 2 DVD Box Set $89.99
Following the release of the album 'Drastic Plastic' and a subsequent tour, Bill Nelson disbanded Be Bop Deluxe. Aware of the emergence of the so-called New Wave artists and out of a desire to continually evolve and progress as a musician, he announced the formation of a new band, Red Noise. In hindsight Nelson's new venture can be seen as taking up the musical baton from where he left off with 'Drastic Plastic.' Working with co-producer John Leckie, Bill recorded a new wave masterpiece, a record that would influence a new generation of musicians with it's intelligent and punchy material. Upon it's release, Bill Nelson's Red Noise took to the road with a line-up of Andy Clark (keyboards), Ian Nelson (saxophone), Rick 'Pinky' Ford (bass) and Steve Peer (drums). 'Sound on Sound' and the subsequent live shows would divide opinion of both fans and critics, but with the passage of time, the album is now regarded as one of Bill Nelson's finest works and the band is viewed as a great musical unit. This 2 CD set features a newly remastered original stereo mix (from the original master tapes), along with stunning a new stereo and mix by Stephen W Tayler. The set also includes two tracks from a 1979 EP and a further Red Noise studio session from May 1979. Esoteric Recordings are repressing their 2013 releases of these remastered and sonically enhanced editions of the albums recorded for the RCA label by Vangelis. All of these reissues come in deluxe digipak designs, with new masters personally supervised by Vangelis. The magnificent "Heaven & Hell" was the first album by Vangelis to be released by RCA Records in 1975 and was also the first album to be recorded at his personal Nemo Studios in London. This epic work in two parts featured the English Chamber Choir (conducted by Guy Protheroe) and Vangelis' first collaboration with Jon Anderson, 'So Long Ago, So Clear.' The superb "Albedo 0.39" was Vangelis' second album to be released by RCA Records and was recorded at Nemo, his personal studio in London, in 1976. This conceptual work, inspired by space and galactic physics, took its name from the planet Earth's albedo, (the proportion of the light a planet receives that is reflected back into outer space), as it was in 1976. The album features the iconic 'Pulstar' and saw Vangelis push the perceived boundaries of the synthesizer as a musical instrument to new dimensions. In addition, Vangelis played a wide variety of other instruments on this stunning work. Both Heaven & Hell and Albedo 0.39 were heavily drawn upon for the soundtrack of Carl Sagan's Cosmos series. The magnificent "Spiral" was Vangelis' third album for RCA Records. Released in 1977, the album was recorded at Nemo and was a defining electronic album of the era, with Vangelis demonstrating his total mastery of the synthesizer technology of the period. Pieces such as the majestic 'To the Unknown Man' brought electronic music to new dimensions. The ground-breaking experimental work "Beaubourg" was Vangelis' fourth and final album for RCA Records. Released in 1978, the album was recorded at Nemo. These Esoteric Recordings releases (undertaken with the full approval and supervision of Vangelis himself) feature booklets that restore the original album artwork.

Bill Bruford's Earthworks/The Sound of Surprise ....import CD $21.99
The last fully studio album that Bill Bruford's Earthworks ever recorded - all subsequent albums were live. Originally released in 2001, the CD title 'The Sound Of Surprise' is credited as New Yorker writer Whitney Balliett's definition of jazz. Out of print for some time; this re-issue is on Bruford's own Summerfold Records and was overseen by him personally. The crisp timekeeping and muscular fills of drummer Bill Bruford's rock work are very much in evidence in this acoustic fusion setting. A penchant for tricky time signatures continues to inform Bill's writing; and it's not impossible to imagine such quirky uptempo tunes as 'Revel without a Pause' and 'Cloud Cuckoo Land' fitting neatly on one of his records from the late 70s. Stand-out tunes include the title track featuring a rare but blistering Bruford solo and the beautiful siren-song 'Come To Dust.'
Centipede/Septober Energy ....import 2 CD Set $27.99
Newly remastered from the original RCA tapes, the classic double album from 1971 by the legendary ensemble Centipede. Produced by Robert Fripp and featuring Keith Tippett, Julie Tippett, Robert Wyatt, Ian McDonald, Elton Dean, John Marshall, Brian Godding, Roy Babbington, Karl Jenkins, Ian Carr, Brian Belshaw, Mike Patto, Zoot Money, Maggie Nichols and many more. Fully restored artwork with an illustrated booklet and essay by Sid Smith. Celebrated free jazz pianist and composer Keith Tippett formed the legendary jazz/progressive rock ensemble Centipede, a group of more than 50 musicians formed in 1970, to perform his extended work 'Septober Energy' on the concert stage. The musicians involved were the finest performers in the worlds of British jazz and progressive rock and featured members of Soft Machine (Robert Wyatt, Elton Dean, Nick Evans, Mark Charig), Nucleus (Ian Carr, Karl Jenkins, Jeff Clyne, Roy Babbington, John Marshall) King Crimson (Robert Fripp, Ian McDonald, Boz Burrell) and Blossom Toes (Brian Godding, Brian Belshaw) and vocalist Julie Tippett. The first Centipede concert took place at The Lyceum in London in November 1970 and was enthusiastically received by both critics and aficionados (including Mike Oldfield who was inspired to compose 'Tubular Bells' as a result of attending the concert). In April 1971 the group was signed to RCA Records' "progressive" imprint Neon, and the album 'Septober Energy' was recorded at Wessex Studios in London in June 1971. Robert Fripp would concentrate his talents solely on the role of producer of the sessions and a number of vocalists including Julie Tippett, Mike Patto, Zoot Money and Maggie Nichols would also bring their abilities to the sessions. The resulting album was issued in October 1971. This new Esoteric Recordings edition has been newly remastered from the original RCA Records master tapes and includes an illustrated booklet with a new essay by Sid Smith.
Miles Davis/The Bootleg Series Vol. 7: That's What Happened 1982-1985 ....3 CD Set $29.99
That's What Happened 1982-1985: Bootleg Volume 7 is the next installment in the celebrated, award-winning archival series that began in 2011, shining an in-depth light onto different eras of the legendary career of Miles Davis. In the 1980s, popular music had moved to a smoother, electronic-based sound that traded the steam of previous years for subdued arrangements meant to elicit peace and deep reflection. Miles Davis embraced this era, pulling inspiration from FM radio and an upstart music video channel called MTV. He was searching for the next frontier, letting his creativity roam. This music on The Bootleg Series Vol. 7 captures that exploration, and finds Miles beginning to re-emerge in a creative landscape far different than the one he left in 1975. He's touched every inch of pop culture while keeping true to his iconoclastic vision of jazz as amorphous art that's supposed to bend and flow and mutate to something else. On That's What Happened, we get to play in the rubble of what would become yet another period of unprecedented innovation. Beauty resides in evolution. The set collects nearly 4 hours of unreleased music including 2 CDs of studio material from 1982 to 1985 plus another CD containing a complete, blistering show of one of Miles' last amazing bands captured live at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal in July 1983. Side men include a multi-generational who's who of jazz talent from JJ Johnson, John McLaughlin, Al Foster and John Scofield to Mike Stern, Marcus Miller, Daryl Jones and Vince Wilburn.
John McLaughlin, John Surman, Dave Holland, Karl Berger & Stu Martin/Where Fortune Smiles ....import CD $24.99
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the first ever UK individual CD release of a newly re-mastered edition of the 1971 album by legendary musicians John McLaughlin, John Surman, Karl Berger, Stu Martin & Dave Holland. Originally released on Pye Records' "Progressive" imprint Dawn Records, Where Fortune Smiles was recorded fresh on the heels of John McLaughlin and Dave Holland's work with Miles Davis, John Surman's work with Mike Westbrook and The Trio (with Stu Martin) - original vinyl copies of the record now command large sums from collectors. This Esoteric Recordings edition has been newly re-mastered from the original Dawn master tapes and features an illustrated booklet which restores the original album artwork and insert and an essay by aficionado Sid Smith.

Various Artists/High in the Morning: British Progressive Pop Sounds of 1973 ....import 3 CD Set $36.99
Latest installment of Grapefruit's popular year-by-year overviews of the more melodic end of the early '70s UK progressive rock scene. A four-hour compilation featuring big hits, key album tracks, cult classics and rarities from 1973. 1973 was another significant year in British pop, with the recent arrival of glam - including the Bryan Ferry-led Roxy Music, who proved that "avant rock" could be a commercial proposition - inspiring many underground bands to adopt a more streamlined sound. That more song-based approach helped give the 1973 singles chart a new energy, with memorable 45s from Mott the Hoople, Manfred Mann's Earthband, Faces, Status Quo, Medicine Head and Nazareth. Though they fell short of the charts, some of the era's more idiosyncratic singer-songwriter talents - Kevin Ayers, Al Stewart, Kevin Coyne - also issued much-loved, radio-friendly singles. On the live circuit, the UK free festival scene was dominated by a new hippie/glam/space rock convergence, with brand leaders Hawkwind joined by the likes of The Pink Fairies and Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come. Featuring all of the above names as well as Thin Lizzy, The Kinks, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Caravan, Procol Harum, Stealers Wheel, Roy Wood, Rare Bird, Badfinger, Free, Family and many others, 'High in the Morning' is a fascinating three-CD, four-hour appraisal of the 1973 British rock and pop scene. Housed in a clamshell box that features a classic crowd shot from that year's Windsor free festival, 'High in the Morning' includes a 48-page booklet that's packed with rare photos, quotes and biographical information.

Their two Joe Boyd-produced albums from that era, Kip of the Serenes (Island) and Heavy Petting (Vertigo), are both highly sought after by collectors. In their heyday, the band recorded only two BBC radio sessions, a Top Gear slot and an In Concert, both with John Peel. Frustratingly, the BBC's tapes were wiped, but after extensive research with European collectors, TLAK has been able to locate off-air recordings of both sessions, which have been painstakingly restored. Added to these are brief radio sessions for Dutch and Danish radio sourced from the original recordings, as well as a Dublin rehearsal take of Sign on My Mind featuring Gary Moore, a friend of the band and guest on Heavy Petting. The accompanying 24-page illustrated booklet featuring previously unpublished photos has been compiled by Strangelies biographer Adrian Whittaker.
Bridget St. John/From There | To Here: UK & US Recordings 1974-1982 ....import 3 CD Set $39.99
Three CD set charting Bridget St. John's post-Dandelion career, 1974-1982. features 17 previously unreleased tracks! Including alternate versions and previously unheard compositions. Following three classic albums on John Peel's Dandelion imprint in the early 1970s, Bridget St. John found herself seeking new outlets and a new path as that label ceased operations in 1972. The album 'Jumblequeen' followed on Chrysalis, and after a number of other possible new options came and went, Bridget found herself drawn towards New York City, and in 1976 relocated there and began to move within the city's underground folk music and singer-songwriter circuit. What followed was a wealth of new material that fed her trademark sound into the melting pot of New York's musical landscape, pulling in different influences and sounds, different musicians and different approaches to songs which were explored on a number of recording sessions. The recent rediscovery of Bridget's tape archive has unearthed numerous recordings captured during that very fertile period in her career, and the artist herself has hand-picked 17 previously unheard highlights, presented here alongside her own contextual sleevenotes. Also including 'Jumblequeen' and 1995's 'Take The 5ifth' (which comprises material from that same New York era), 'From There / To Here' at last provides a definite overview of the decade that followed Bridget St. John's association with John Peel and Dandelion, and is a perfect companion to our previous box set covering those years.

Jeff Cotton/The Fantasy of Reality ....import CD $17.99
Coming over 50 years since his remarkable contributions to the all-time masterpiece Trout Mask Replica, The Fantasy of Reality is the debut solo release from Jeff Cotton of Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band fame. Beefheart / Zappa designer Cal Schenkel provides the artwork: A perfect fit for the playful and psychedelic nature of Cotton's music. After playing guitar, lap steel and vocals with the legendary Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band, appearing on the ground breaking album Trout Mask Replica (under the pseudonym Antennae Jimmy Semens), as well as playing on Strictly Personal & Mirror Man, Cotton withdrew from the commercial music business for nearly 50 years. Using the island state of Hawaii as a home base, he emerges from his seclusion in 2022 with his first ever solo album; The Fantasy of Reality. Whimsical, playful and tongue-in-cheek - Cotton delivers a psychedelic journey that will delight Beefheart devotees while bringing plenty of new ideas to the table across the sprawling 22 track, 66 minute runtime. Across the decades, the Magic Band's power and influence has only grown in might, and the cult following of 1969's Trout Mask Replica still excites fans to this day, in part due to the mystery and enigma of members such as Antennae Jimmy Semens (aka Jeff Cotton). In 1967, Cotton was scoped by Don Van Vliet - Captain Beefheart himself, replacing Ry Cooder on guitar. He then went one to help craft some of Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band's most vibrant recordings and later contributed to the cult band MU. Now blending together musical strands such as jazz, delta blues, Hawaiian and the avant-garde to create a melting pot of ideas, Cotton will astonish fans with his comeback.

Remastered from the original master tapes and featuring an additional six bonus tracks previously unreleased on CD. Signing to Decca's Deram label, the band recorded a series of albums which embraced, jazz, blues and rock influences and enjoyed success as one of the great British bands of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Following the release of the album 'Overdog' in the Spring of 1971, Miller embarked on recording his first solo album, 'Bright City.' The album would see Anderson embrace folk influences alongside the more familiar styles associated with his work as part of the Hartley Band. The result was a fine and inspiring record.
Steamhammer/Wailing Again ....import CD $18.99
British blues-rock band Steamhammere was formed at the end of 1968 by Martin Quittenton (guitar), Kieran White (vocals, harmonica, guitar), Martin Pugh (guitar), Steve Davy (bass) and Michael Rushton (drums). Their first album Reflections (AKA Junior's Wailing) was released in 1969. Pete Sears played piano on this album before he joined Rod Stewart on his four early classic recordings. Pugh also played on Rod Stewart's first solo album, The Rod Stewart Album (AKA An Old Raincoat Would Never Let You Down) with Ron Wood, Mickey Waller, Martin Quittenton and Keith Emerson. After Reflections, Quittenton and Rushton both quit the band to be replaced by Mick Bradley (drums) and Steve Joliffe of Tangerine Dream (sax, flute), who gave a jazzy influence to the band in their second album, Mk. II (1969). Shortly after this release, Joliffe left the band, which continued as a four piece for their third album Mountains (1970), which was a returning to the blues-rock of the first album. After a major turnover, Pugh and Bradley invited Louis Cennamo of the original Renaissance (bass) and, along with special guest Garth Watt-Roy (vocals), recorded Speech in 1971. This last album was released posthumously, after Bradley's death in 1972. Now, exactly 50 years after the release of Speech and 53 years after Pugh and Sears collaborated on the band's first LP, Steamhammer will release a new album, Wailing Again. Featuring beside 1968 founder member Martin Pugh (guitars) and Pete Sears (bass, keys & background vocals), member of Jefferson Starship from 1974 to 1987, Manfred Mann's Earth Band - drummer John Lingwood, who joined Steamhammer in 1972, and Phil Colombatto (vocals & harmonica).
Ian Hunter/Overnight Angels ....import CD $19.99
Special deluxe collector's edition; fully remastered audio shaped from 24 BIT digital technology; 16 page full colour booklet - 4,000 word essay, enhanced artwork and new interviews. Ian Hunter IS unquestionably amongst the elite of British rock. As the leader of Mott the Hoople, his style, voice and song writing ability helped the band into the charts on both sides of the Atlantic and also secured him the respect and admiration of fellow musicians across the spectrum, from pop to rock. This was Ian's third solo album post Mott the Hoople, recorded with the intent to silence critics that he'd gone 'soft' on his previous solo album. Enlisting the heavy-duty firepower of producer Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, Foreigner, Free) and recruiting new band members, including lauded guitarist Earl Slick, Foreigner drummer Dennis Elliott (Curly Smith actually plays on the album), Sparks member Peter Oxendale on keyboards and former Chicken Shack bassist Rob Rawlinson. The results are spectacular, conjuring up a variety of styles but always heavy via the robust production values of Baker and his engineer Gary Lyons. Recorded in Canada at Le Studio, Quebec and polished in London, the record contains a selection of now classic tracks, including 'Justice of the Peace,' 'Wild 'n' Free,' 'Golden Opportunity' and 'Overnight Angels,' all indicating that Hunter had shed another skin in a serious intent to impress not only his existing fan base but also to attract curious onlookers keeping tabs on his career development.

Tangerine Dream/Machu Picchu ....import CD $18.99
'Machu Picchu' is one of the more intimate projects by Tangerine Dream - not planned for a release during the composing and recording process. It is a homage to a man who - like no other person in the business - had 'created' TD's career from a distance many years ago, believing in their talent and extraordinary skills. His name was John Peel. The background story and atmospheric influence of this one-piece-42-minutes-composition came to life after this music driven character and long-time BBC progressive pioneer passed away in October 2004 in the city of Cusco (Peru) close to the sacred Inca site Machu Picchu. This album is more than just another record, it is a non-verbal applause, a greeting, a respectful obeisance for a man who truly was remarkable and unique in the best sense of those words. Edgar Froese didn't want to release these compositions in the first place - "I've made them for myself" he said. But as years passed by his wife argued with him about his decision. Edgar gave in and here it is, one of TD's most personal releases within their enormous musical output. Originally not made available until 2012, 'Machu Picchu' is reprinted and available on digipack CD now.
