Greenslade/Time and Tide [Remastered Expanded Edition] ....import 2 CD Set $22.99
Esoteric re-press of this 2019 release. Esoteric Recordings is proud to announce the release of a newly re-mastered and expanded 2 CD edition of the classic 1975 album, Time and Tide by Greenslade. Formed in 1972 by former Colosseum keyboard player Dave Greenslade, the band also featured former Web and Samurai member Dave Lawson (keyboards, vocals), former Colosseum bass player Tony Reeves and drummer Andrew McCulloch (formerly with King Crimson and Fields). The calibre of the members of Greenslade ensured that the group would be innovative, ground breaking and dynamic in their musical approach and would also be notable due to the absence of a guitarist within their ranks. Following the release of the album Spyglass Guest, Tony Reeves departed the band and was replaced by Martin Briley, who was to feature on the band's next album. Originally issued in May 1975, Time and Tide was the band's final album of the 1970s and was a fine record that featured such compositions as 'Flattery Stakes,' 'Waltz for a Fallen Idol,' 'Newsworth' and 'The Ass's Ears.' Considered by many to be a band at their finest on stage, this expanded edition of Time and Tide includes a bonus CD featuring a superb sixty-minute concert recorded for Swedish Radio in March 1975 in Stockholm, re-mastered from the original Swedish Radio master tapes, offering a glimpse of the excellence of this short-lived line-up of band in a live environment and released officially for the very first time. This Esoteric Recordings expanded edition has been newly re-mastered from the original master tapes and features an illustrated booklet and includes an essay by Malcolm Dome and exclusive interviews with Dave Greenslade and Dave Lawson.
Arthur Brown/Long Long Road ....CD $14.99
Arthur Brown/Long Long Road [Deluxe Edition] ....2 CD + Book Set $39.99
Pretty much everyone into rock music knows Arthur Brown - and not just because of his iconic, career-defining transatlantic hit single 'Fire' from the 1968 album "The Crazy World of Arthur Brown," but also through his many collaborations with other outstanding artists, such as a cameo in the cult film "Tommy," in which his dramatic vocals were backed by Eric Clapton and The Who, as well as working with The Alan Parsons Project, David Gilmore, The Prodigy, Burce Dickinson, The Stranglers, Kula Shaker, Die Krupps, and many others. Scheduled for release on Arthur's 80th birthday, "Long Long Road" effortlessly shifts from progressive rock and soul to pristine blues rock, with the much-loved singer summoning his full vocal range with a mature mastery that comes only with the experience of a lifetime. Wild, vibrant, and crammed with rich musical textures, this album is quintessentially Arthur Brown, and can easily be construed as the apex and summary of a fascinating career that has spanned several decades. Arthur is widely credited as a pioneer of shock rock and progressive rock, and a significant influence on heavy metal. His live performances include iconic classics, dance, poetry, visuals and a subliminal soundtrack of new electronic music. Whenever he plays, Arthur still brings the dramatically elegant and always extravagant style that he established as the gold standard onstage. With each note on "Long Long Road," Arthur Brown makes the impressive statement that he remains as authentic, challenging, creative, and compelling as he was at his career's fiery beginning. This record is not a swansong, but the thrilling beginning of the final phase of an utterly singular career. To understand the massive impact and influence of Arthur's wild stage persona, flamboyant theatrical performances, and charismatic multi-octave voice, one only needs to listen to these rock icons: "Without Arthur Brown there would be no Alice Cooper." Alice Cooper "Now there's a man who was ahead of his time." Elton John "Arthur Brown was a big influence of mine... Arthur Brown has the voice of death." Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden "Arthur Brown is as much a dancer as he is a singer." Pete Townshend, The Who

Bill Bruford's Earthworks/A Part and Yet Apart ....import CD $22.99
The fifth album from Bill Bruford's Earthworks, originally released in 1999. Featuring pianist Steve Hamilton who trained in the US, and played with Bobby Hutcherson, Freddie Hubbard and Gary Burton among others; with Patrick Clahar, the fast-rising London tenorist best known for his work with Incognito, and Mark Hodgson on bass. Following his mid '90s sojourn with King Crimson, drummer Bill Bruford returned to the scene with his fully-acoustic Earthworks Mark II, which hit the ground running in 1999 with 'A Part and Yet Apart.' Having effectively jettisoned electronic percussion Earthworks revisited the acoustic sax-piano-bass-drums line up with it's muscular, visceral acoustic fusion. This album has been out of print for some time and this re-release is on Bruford's own Summerfold Records and was overseen personally by Bill Bruford.
Tony Williams/Play or Die ....CD $18.99
Tony Williams certainly counts among those unique drummers in jazz today, whose work has had a lasting influence on styles and still does. At the tender age of 16, saxophonist Jackie McLean brought him to his band in New York. He also made his first recording with McLean. Soon after, aged 17, Williams was already making a splash in the second Miles Davis Quintet. Almost twenty years later, in 1980, on May 30 and 31, Tony Williams went to the Zuckerfabrik recording studio in Stuttgart, Germany, together with Tom Grant (keyboards, synthesizer, he joined this band on the recommendation of Jeff Lorber) and Patrick O'Hearn (bass, synthesizer, from Missing Persons and Frank Zappa). In the 1970s and early 1980s, this studio was an illustrious address for audio productions of all kinds. Larry Coryell, Wolfgang Dauner, Stephane Grappeli, Elvin Jones, Martin Kolbe + Ralf Illenberger, Volker Kriegel, Alphonse Mouzon, John Scofield and the United Jazz + Rock Ensemble recorded there, to name just a few. Tony Williams and Peter Schnyder co-produced the recording. The album was recorded in just two days and mixed right there in the studio. This timeless album, released in an edition of only 500 copies, was hardly promoted at the time and may therefore have remained unknown to one or the other. All the better that now for the first time since the release of the vinyl it is also available on CD, with a significantly improved sound.
Larry Coryell/Live at the Sugar Club: Dublin 2016 ....CD $15.99
Larry Coryell: Guitar virtuoso, performer and composer of jazz and jazz- rock. Master of guitar improvisation, known in the jazz world as the "Godfather of Fusion." Larry's highly acclaimed improvised guitar stylings and compositions positioned him as one of the first innovators of the jazz-rock fusion movement in the late 1960s. A true legend and well established in the history books of jazz music, Larry knew and played with many of the well known jazz and rock greats of the 20th and 21st Centuries such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Chet Atkins, Chico Hamilton, Gary Burton, Chick Corea and Miles Davis. Larry's "Last Swing in Ireland" was his last visit to the Emerald Aisle and he made a lasting impression at Hellfire Studios and The Sugar Club with his favorite Irish rhythm section, Kevin Brady and Dave Redmond in May of 2016. They rock and they swing and everything in between.

Mysteries of the Revolution/Longing for the Dawn ....import CD $26.99
Fourteen years after releasing its critically acclaimed debut album, Mysteries of the Revolution return with 2022's Longing for the Dawn. An instrumental prog/jazz-rock project led by virtuosic keyboardist/composer Daniel Biro and multi-instrumentalist BB Davis (drums, flute) and guests, the album includes nine scorching tracks that contain echoes of passionate '70s trail blazers such as King Crimson, Soft Machine, Mahavishnu, Weather Report, Return To Forever etc.
David Crosby/If I Could Only Remember My Name ....Hybrid SACD $40.98
No album personifies the relaxed, loose, albeit troubled early 1970s California aura like If I Could Only Remember My Name. Hallucinogenic, trippy and akin to a foggy dream you want to last for hours, David Crosby's blissed-out solo debut transcends time and remains a key influence on the contemporary freakfolk scene. The unique set lingers as a beautiful convergence of spontaneity, collaboration, circumstance, and recording-studio acumen. From the slack acoustic underpinnings of the ragalike opener to the improvised 'cosmic skydrop' that serves as the closer, nothing in any artist's oeuvre orbits the same galaxy as the 1971 effort. This journey demands to be heard in full, an expressive adventure whose paths are lined with sublime harmonies, acoustic guitars, repeated chants, and tasteful percussion. Mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelity's hybrid SACD underlines the escapist peace of the music and brilliance of Stephen Barncard's engineering. Equally important, the reissues reveal Crosby's unsurpassed vocal performances and the inspired contributions of the illustrious Bay Area colleagues and friends that allow the record to function as an altered consciousness paean to community, harmony, and necessary emotional release. Listeners can now fully witness the notes seemingly dissolve into thin air, and perceive why Barncard cited the echo chamber at Wally Heider Recording as 'probably the best chamber I've used anywhere, anytime. It was magic.' The same can be said for these reference-grade versions.
Chicken Shack/Crying Won't Help You Now: The Deram Years 1971-1974 ....import 3 CD Box Set $38.99
New three CD clamshell boxed set of the classic albums and recordings made by the legendary chicken shack between 1971 and 1974 featuring the albums 'Imagination Lady,' 'Unlucky Boy' and 'Goodbye Chicken Shack' with an illustrated booklet. Chicken Shack had come to prominence in the late 1960s as one of Britain's finest blues bands, recording a series of albums for the Blue Horizon label. By 1971 the band had undergone changes to their line-up and guitarist/vocalist Stan Webb took the band in a harder rock direction. Signing to Decca's Deram label in 1971 under a production deal, Webb's band, now a trio featuring John Glascock (bass) and Paul Hancox (drums), recorded the fine album 'Imagination Lady' featuring such classic tracks as 'Crying Won't Help You Now,' 'Daughter of the Hillside' and the epic 'Telling Your Fortune.' John Glascock departed the band in 1972 and was replaced by Bob Daisley on bass. This line-up would record another excellent album, 'Unlucky Boy,' which was released in early 1973 and featured a guest appearance by Chris Mercer on saxophones. Again, this line-up would prove to be short lived, with Stan Webb forming an entirely new line-up of the band in 1973 to head out on the road. The band's final album for Deram was the live set, 'Goodbye... ,' recorded at Brunel University on the 26th October 1973 with Webb joined by Dave Wilkinson (electric piano), Rob Hull (bass) and Alan Powell (drums). Soon after this recording, Webb disbanded Chicken Shack to join Savoy Brown. The album was belatedly released in Europe in 1974 and was a fine testament to the excellence of Chicken Shack as a live band. This box set gathers together all of the albums and singles issued between 1971 and 1974 and is a splendid tribute to a fine band.
Envy of None/Envy of None ....CD $16.99
2022 release, the debut self-titled album from this band featuring Alex Lifeson (Rush), Andy Curran (Coney Hatch), Alfio Annibalini and singer Maiah Wynne. "One of my favorite things about these songs is the intimacy of them," reveals Maiah Wynne. "It makes them feel different and more honest. There are some heavier songs too, like 'Enemy,' and then tracks like 'Kabul Blues,' that sound completely different to anything else." The album closer, 'Western Sunset,' which was penned by Alex Lifeson in tribute to his dear friend Neil Peart. It's a highly emotive piece of music to honor a man deeply missed by the rock community at large, and even more so by those who were lucky enough to know him. "I visited Neil when he was ill," says Alex Lifeson. "I was on his balcony watching the sunset and found inspiration. There's a finality about a sunset that kinda stayed with me throughout the whole process. It had meaning. It was the perfect mood to decompress after all these different textures... a nice way to close the book."
Balungan/Kudu Bisa Kudu ....CD $17.99
From Cuneiform Records, Gamelan, Indonesia's national music, based on intricately subdivided polyrhythms and played on shining, lavishly decorated bronze metallophones, has been an influence on European and North American musicians for more than a century. Artists as diverse as classical composers Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy, jazz traveller Don Cherry, pioneering minimalist Lou Harrison and progressive rock groups Gong and King Crimson have incorporated gamelanlike rhythms into their sound. But there's never been a gamelan-based cultural exchange as equitable as Balungan, named after the Javanese word for "skeleton," which is also used to describe the core melody of a musical composition. Nor has there been one as loud. The Javanese members of the band attack their genders, gongs, and bonangs "like a rock ensemble," says drummer and project sparkplug Guigou Chenevier, founding member of France's original Rock in Opposition group Etron Fou Leloublan.
Cluster/Cluster II ....import CD $21.99
Esoteric re-press of 2012 release. Digitally remastered edition of this 1972 album from the German experimental outfit. Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius had been making experimental electronic music since meeting at Berlin's famed Zodiak arts lab in the late 1960s. Cluster II was their second work for a major label and was released in Germany on the Brain label in 1972. The sessions saw producer (and contributor to Cluster's first album) Conny Plank oversee the proceedings. Less "industrial" in feel to Cluster's debut work, Cluster II is nevertheless a classic, hailed by aficionado Julian Cope as a major album in his book Krautrocksampler. This edition is newly remastered and fully restores the original album artwork and includes a booklet with new essay.
Guru Guru/Hinten ....CD $17.99
Limited edition reissue of the landmark 1971 album from krautrock pioneers, Guru Guru! Includes painstakingly exact replication of original gatefold artwork in a CD jacket!
Spirogyra/The Future Won't Be Long: The Albums 1971-1973 ....import 3 CD Set $41.99
New three CD clamshell boxed set of the three albums by Spirogyra released between 1971 and 1973. Spirogyra was formed by duo Martin Cockerham and Mark Francis in Bolton in 1968, but the band expanded when Cockerham was a student in Canterbury at the end of 1969. The expanded line-up featured Cockerham (guitar, vocals), Barbara Gaskin (lead vocals), Steve Borrill (bass) and Julian Cusack (violin, keyboards) and secured a contract with B&C Records in 1970. The band's impressive debut album, 'St Radigunds' was issued in 1971 and featured guest drummer Dave Mattacks and Tony Cox on VCS3 Synthesiser. In 1972 the band's second album, 'Old Boot Wine,' was released on the Pegasus label, a "progressive" imprint established by B&C. Prior to the recording of the album Mark Francis re-joined the group, and the sessions also saw contributions from guest musicians Dave Mattacks (drums), Julian Cusack (violin, keyboards), Rick Biddulph (mandolin), Alan Laing (cello). With the demise of the Pegasus label, Spirogyra recorded their third album for Polydor. By this time Spirogyra had become a core of Martin Cockerham (guitar, vocals) and Barbara Gaskin (lead vocals) with Steve Borrill (bass) and guest musicians Dave Mattacks (drums), Julian Cusack (violin, keyboards), Henry Lowther (trumpet), John Boyce (cello), Stan Sulzman (flute) and Steve Ashley (whistle). Despite achieving critical praise, Spirogyra failed to enjoy commercial success which ultimately led to their demise. The trio of albums the band recorded between 1971 and 1973 featured music of innovation and originality and are arguably beyond classification. They remain highly regarded and are sought after by collectors and aficionados of the progressive era. This collection features four bonus tracks recorded during sessions for 'Old Boot Wine' and the 1973 single release 'I Hear You're Going Somewhere (Joe Really).'
Hemlock/Hemlock [Expanded Edition] ....import CD $22.99
A newly remastered and expanded edition of the self- titled 1973 album by Hemlock, the band formed by guitarist and vocalist Miller Anderson. Anderson is a highly respected musician who came to prominence as vocalist and guitarist with the Keef Hartley Band in 1968. Signing to Decca's Deram label, the band recorded a series of albums which embraced, jazz, blues and rock influences and enjoyed success as one of the great British bands of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Following the release of the album 'Overdog' in the Spring of 1971, Miller recorded his first solo album, 'Bright City.' The result was a fine and inspiring record and led to him forming Hemlock to record a follow up album for Deram. Aside from Miller Anderson, the band featured Mick Weaver (keyboards), James Leverton (bass), Eric Dillon (drums), Peter Dines (organ) and guests Chris Mercer (saxophones) and Pete Willsher (pedal steel guitar). The band's only album was a fine blend of folk and rock influences.
Babe Ruth/Darker than Blue: The Harvest Years 1972-1975 ....import 3 CD Set $38.99
New thre CD clamshell boxed set of the albums and singles by the band babe ruth recorded for the harvest label between 1972 and 1975. Featuring the albums 'First Base,' 'Amar Caballero' and 'Babe Ruth.' Newly remastered from the original Harvest master tapes with an illustrated booklet featuring an essay. Babe Ruth was formed in Hatfield in 1970 by guitarist Alan Shacklock and featured vocalist Janita "Jenny" Haan, bassist Dave Hewitt and drummer Jeff Allen. Their unique brand of soulful progressive rock soon gained many admirers and in 1972 they signed a contract with EMI Records' progressive imprint, Harvest. By this time Jeff Allen had departed and Dick Powell joined on drums. The band's line-up was also expanded by the arrival of keyboard player Dave Punshon. Babe Ruth stood out from many of their labelmates, partly due to Haan's vocals and through the band's ability to generate a soulful edge to their music. Their debut album, 'First Base' was issued in 1972 and featured the classic tracks 'Wells Fargo' and 'The Mexican' which gained considerable air play in Canada and the USA, but the record inexplicably failed to match this success in the UK. The arrival of Chris Holmes on keyboards and new drummer Ed Spevock in 1974 saw them follow their debut with 'Amar Caballero,' before the band's final album for Harvest in 1975, the eponymous 'Babe Ruth' which was a hit in the USA and Canada and featured the band's memorable cover of the theme from the film A Fistful Of Dollars and the Curtis Mayfield composition 'We People Darker Than Blue.' Soon after the album's release Alan Shacklock departed the band (to be replaced by Bernie Marsden) and Babe Ruth moved labels to Capitol Records.
Home/The Alchemist [Remastered & Expanded] ....import CD $21.99
2022 Esoteric repress of 2010 release. Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1973 prog rock gem including two bonus tracks. The band featured a line up of Mick Stubbs (guitar, piano, lead vocals), Laurie Wisefield (lead guitar, vocals), Cliff Williams (bass, vocals) and Mick Cook (drums) and had recorded two previous albums in a more conventional style before recording an album cited by many as a "lost classic" of the progressive genre. Although critically acclaimed, the album failed to sell in quantities it deserved and Home disbanded the following year. With the addition of guest Jimmy Anderson on Mellotron and synthesizer, the conceptual work also brought the guitar playing of Laurie Wisefield to the fore, eventually leading to his joining Wishbone Ash soon after the demise of Home. This edition includes both sides of Home's 1974 single as bonus tracks. 14 tracks.

Anthony Phillips/Private Parts & Pieces I - IV ....import 5 CD Set $52.99
2022 Esoteric repress of the 2015 release. Curated by Anthony Phillips and Jonathan Dann, the Private Parts & Pieces I - IV box set collects the first four of Anthony Phillips' series of classic, intimate albums. Includes a booklet with an essay and an 18 track bonus disc containing previously unreleased material. Five CD set in clamshell box. 2015 anthology from legendary guitarist, composer and instrumentalist Anthony Phillips. Anthony was a founding member of Genesis alongside Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks with whom he recorded the albums From Genesis to Revelation and Trespass. After leaving the group in 1970, Anthony studied orchestration and harmony externally at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. After passing his LGSM exams, he taught music at Reeds School and Peper Harrow whilst continuing to compose and record in his home studio. He marked his return to the commercial music scene with the release of his debut solo album The Geese & The Ghost in 1977 and continued to create a large and diverse output as a recording artist on albums such as Wise After the Event, Sides, Slow Dance, 1984 and Field Day. Alongside these releases Anthony is known for the successful series of the Private Parts & Pieces albums. Beginning in 1978 the first four volumes featured an extensive range of music recorded by Ant for various projects (going as far back as 1972) and came to be regarded by fans as essential collections of his wide and diverse compositional work. Now, Anthony Phillips and Jonathan Dann have compiled this deluxe set, which gathers together the first four Private Parts & Pieces albums (with a total of 18 bonus tracks), along with an additional 18-track CD of previously unreleased material. Private Parts & Pieces I - IV is the definitive statement on these classic albums. The set includes a lavish booklet with an essay by Jonathan Dann and fully restores the artwork of the original vinyl releases.

Jade Warrior/Released ....import CD $22.99
Jade Warrior/Last Autumn's Dream [Remastered] ....import CD $22.99
New remastered and expanded release of the 1971 debut album by the legendary Jade Warrior and remastered from the original master tapes. Formed in 1970, Jade Warrior were one of the most original British bands to emerge during the progressive rock era. The first incarnation of Jade Warrior featured Tony Duhig (guitars) and Jon Field (flutes, percussion), both of whom had been in the psychedelic group July, and Glyn Havard (bass, vocals). Signing to the Vertigo label, the band recorded their self- titled debut album in March 1971. A remarkable work, 'Jade Warrior' would be the template upon which the band would build their unique sound - venturing stylistically between ethnic music, melodic, gentle ethereal and ambient sounds and heavier guitar driven rock. Upon it's release, 'Jade Warrior' was acclaimed by critics and has since acquired legendary status for it's sheer inventiveness. This expanded Esoteric Recordings edition has been newly remastered from the original Vertigo Records master tapes and features an early, previously unreleased version of 'Telephone Girl' as a bonus track. It also restores the original album artwork and features a booklet with new essay. By the time of the recording of their second album, Released, issued in November 1971, the band had expanded to a quartet with drummer Allan Price adding a new character to the band's sound. The sessions also featured a guest appearance from saxophonist Dave Conners. 'Released' was a huge progression from the band's debut and featured such classic tracks as 'Three Horned Dragon King,' 'Eyes on You' and the epic 14 minute piece 'Baranzibar.' 'Last Autumn's Dream' is a newly remastered release of the classic 1972 album by the legendary Jade Warrior and remastered from the original Vertigo master tapes. 'Last Autumn's Dream' was arguably the most fully realized album by Jade Warrior during their tenure with Vertigo Records, featuring such classic tracks as 'A Winter's Tale,' 'Snake,' 'Dark River' and 'Borne on the Solar Wind.'

Klaus Schulze/Deus Arrakis ....CD $18.99
Composer, musician and producer Klaus Schulze rolls out his extensive sounds, plays his legendary sequences and creates this unique 'Schulze atmosphere' for more than 50 years now. With "Deus Arrakis" the electronic legend now presents his new studio album. Through his collaboration with Hans Zimmer for the Oscar-winning soundtrack to the remake of the classic film 'Dune,' desert fever has broken out again in Klaus Schulze. "I needed more of that 'Spice,'" Schulze recounts. "From there I felt completely unleashed and just played and played... at the end of that second private 'Dune' journey I realized: 'Deus Arrakis' became another salute to Frank Herbert and to that great gift of life in general." Since his beginnings in bands like 'Tangerine Dream' and 'Ash Ra Tempel' or in his over 50 solo albums from 'Irrlicht' to Mirage,' 'X' and 'Dune' to 'Farscape,' 'Kontinuum,' Silhouettes' and now 'Deus Arrakis,' in his productions under the pseudonym 'Richard Wahnfried' or the numerous film scores and collaborations with artists like Arthur Brown, Michael Shrieve, Rainer Bloss, Lisa Gerrard or most recently Hans Zimmer: Klaus Schulze has always remained true to his unmistakable way of creating music and yet always remained open to the new, the innovative, the experimental.
Klaus Schulze & Pete Namlook/Dark Side of the Moog Vols. 1 - 4 ....import 5 CD Set $34.99
Complex re-release of the most remarkable and worldwide sought after series The Dark Side of the Moog by German electronic pioneers Klaus Schulze and Pete Namlook (aka Peter Kuhlmann) in three slip lid boxsets, each with 5 CDs, including bonus material and new liner notes. The first box contains Vol. 1 to Vol. 4 and the best of album The Evolution of the Dark Side of the Moog. The relationship between Klaus and Pete and the exchange of ideas was unorthodox from the beginning of their co-operation in that they rarely met personally. The most remarkable contacts they had were outside of their studios, for instance their concert of April 1999 at the Jazz Festival in Hamburg which was released as an edited version on 'Dark Side of the Moog, Vol.8' (which will be released in the second boxset) - the interplay and chemistry between them is clearly evident, and it becomes even clearer on the un-edited version of the concert (which will be released as bonus CD on the third boxset). The influence Namlook had on Klaus's music in the middle of the nineties should not be taken lightly because, although Klaus dearly loved those early-analogue elements from his own music, they had become to an extent lost. It was Pete who fortified him to go back to the analogue charm of his early albums and it was Pete who supported him in the modification of his analogue instruments leading finally to the epoch-making Schulze album from 1996 - Are You Sequenced? And so a legendary series of recordings was born. 'Dark Side of the Moog' grew more or less unplanned to a sprawling, stately-sized series of eleven volumes recorded between 1994 and 2008, only ending with the early, tragic death of Pete on November 8th 2012.
Tangerine Dream/La Divina Commedia ....import 5 CD + DVD Set $95.99
Tangerine Dream has been a fundamental influence on electronic music since Edgar Froese founded the band in West Berlin in 1967. Providing the groundwork for multiple electronic music genres including ambient and electronica, inspiring musicians and other art forms, with seven Grammy nominations to their credit. In recent years their music has featured in popular TV shows such as Stranger Things and video games including Grand Theft Auto V. Edgar Froese was an artist with a truly clear vision. His life and work were characterized by holding on to his belief in the evolution of music as an art form. That became a predominant principle within Tangerine Dream following his encounter with painter and sculptor Salvador Dali. Tangerine Dream went fully independent in 1996, launching their own TDI label and company. At the start of the new millennium Froese met painter and artist Bianca Acquaye which subsequently led to the first part of the Dante Trilogy, Inferno, being recorded. This followed with seven live performances, partly with an orchestra, across Europe. La Divina Commedia aka The Dante Trilogy was to be Tangerine Dream's most ambitious and elaborate project to date, Edgar Froese's life work. Now, the entire trilogy (Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso) is presented in a deluxe 60-page hardback book set via Kscope. All albums have been remastered by close collaborator Harald Pairits with the 2002 live concert DVD (NTSC 0) filmed at Castle Nideggen, Cologne featured as a bonus disc. The hardback book features extensive liner notes by noted author Wouter Bessels, an essay by Edgar's close collaborated and wife Bianca Froese-Acquaye and previously unseen photographs from Edgar's private archive.

Greenslade/Spyglass Guest [Expanded & Remastered Edition] ....import double CD $21.99
2022 Esoteric repress. Digitally remastered and expanded two CD edition of the classic 1974 album. Formed in 1972 by former Colosseum keyboard player Dave Greenslade, the band also featured former Web and Samurai member Dave Lawson (keyboards, vocals), former Colosseum bass player Tony Reeves and drummer Andrew McCulloch (formerly with King Crimson and Fields). The caliber of the members of Greenslade ensured that the group would be innovative, ground breaking and dynamic in their musical approach and would also be notable due to the absence of a guitarist within their ranks. Originally issued in August 1974, Spyglass Guest was the band's most successful album and featured such classic compositions as 'Joie de Vivre,' 'Spirit of the Dance,' 'Melancholic Race' and the band's interpretation of the Jack Bruce/Pete Brown composition 'Theme for an Imaginary Western.' The album was also notable for the appearance of guitarist Clem Clempson (formerly a member of Colosseum) on 'Little Red Fry Up' and 'Siam See Saw.' Considered by many to be a band at their finest on stage, this expanded edition of Spyglass Guest includes a bonus CD of previously unreleased recordings made for BBC Radio One's In Concert program and Sounds of the Seventies in November 1974, offering a glimpse of the excellence of the band in a live environment and released for the very first time. This Esoteric Recordings expanded edition has been newly remastered from the original master tapes and features an illustrated booklet with many rare cuttings and includes an essay by Malcolm Dome and exclusive interviews with Dave Greenslade and Dave Lawson.
David Sylvian/Sleepwalkers [Deluxe Edition] ....import CD $24.99
In the '00s, David Sylvian produced two of his strongest and most solitary statements, Blemish and Manafon. But those records don't tell the whole story. During that the same period, Sylvian created an alternate body of work: a series of collaborations and side projects with leading talents of pop and improv, electronic and contemporary classical music. The best of these recordings are gathered here on Sleepwalkers, meticulously sequenced and remixed: the fruits of one-off meetings and lifelong partnerships, they jump from bliss to intrigue, romance to sensuality, as arch experiments lead into the lushest pop. 17 tracks.

Pete Bardens/Long Ago, Far Away - The Recordings 1969-1971 ....import 2 CD Set $24.99
Newly remastered 2 CD release anthology of Camel member Peter Bardens' recorded work issued between 1969 and 1971. Prior to Bardens joining Andrew Latimer, Andy Ward and Doug Ferguson to form Camel, he had recorded a single in 1969 with his band Village (also featuring Bill Porter on drums and future Elvis Costello & The Attractions' member Bruce Thomas on bass) for the short-lived Head Records label. In 1970 Bardens signed to Transatlantic and recorded his debut solo album 'The Answer' featuring Bruce Thomas, guitarist Andy Gee and Reg Isadore on drums, plus an uncredited Peter Green guesting on guitar. The album included the long opus 'Homage to the God of Light,' later performed by Camel in their live sets. In 1971, Bardens recorded his second, eponymous solo album with a band featuring Reg Isadore, Vic Linton (guitar), Victor Brox (electric violin) and John Owen (bass). 'Peter Bardens' did much to enhance Bardens' reputation as a musician and composer. The music on both of Bardens' solo albums mapping the route that he would take as a member of Camel. This 2 CD remastered anthology gathers together all the material recorded for Transatlantic Records (including the studio out-take 'Long Ago, Far Away' recorded during sessions for 'The Answer'), both sides of the rare single by Village originally issued in 1969 and both sides of a rare French single of 'Homage to the God of Light.'
Various Artists/Blowing Free: Underground & Progressive Sounds of 1972 ....import 4 CD Box Set $46.99
A new 4 CD remastered clamshell Various Artists boxed set celebrating the finest sounds of the so-called "underground" and progressive rock music of 1972. Five hours of music featuring tracks by Atomic Rooster, Barclay James Harvest, Edgar Broughton Band, Caravan, Curved Air, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Family, Free, Gentle Giant, Hawkwind, Help Yourself, Khan, Lindisfarne, Man, Matching Mole, Nektar, Pretty Things, Procol Harum, Nektar, Rare Bird, Al Stewart, Ten Years After, Thin Lizzy, Uriah Heep, Van Der Graaf Generator, Vinegar Joe, Wishbone Ash, Yes and many more. The next release in their series of compilations celebrating the so-called "underground" rock music - 'Blowing Free - Underground and Progressive Sounds Of 1972,' is a 4 CD clamshell box set which gathers together over five hours of music from 1972, a momentous year in rock music and one which would continue to see progressive music in all its forms become a dominating force with the album buying public. Much of this music appeared on the "progressive" imprints of major record labels such as EMI's Harvest, Decca's Deram and Philips Records' Vertigo and the emerging independent labels such as Charisma, United Artists and Island Records and led to an increasied presence of underground album music on BBC Radio One with it's Sounds of the Seventies and Top Gear programmes. On television the iconic series The Old Grey Whistle Test would be a major contributor to the success of many of these musicians.
Sally Oldfield/Playing in the Flame ....import CD $21.99
Sally Oldfield's musical career began in 1968 with The Sallyangie, a duo formed with her younger brother Mike. Both Sally and Mike were fans of Bert Jansch and John Renbourne (both part of Pentangle). The Sallyangie launched Mike Oldfield's career while Sally had to wait until 1978 with the brilliant album Water Bearer. Sally Oldfield became well-known in the progressive rock scene because she provided vocals on her brothers first four albums. With her fourth album "Playing in the Flame," Sally Oldfield moves further to the mainstream although "Love of a Lifetime" and "Song of Being" are vintage Oldfield with some celestial string synths coating the fade out. "Song of the Lamp" may be her most reverent song to that point, thanks partially to it's hymn like chorus.
Kaprekar's Constant/Fate Outsmarts Desire ....import CD $20.99
Kaprekar's Constant is the brainchild of childhood friends, songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Al Nicholson and Nick Jefferson. Joined throughout its debut album by legendary Van Der Graaf Generator saxophonist/flautist David Jackson, vocalist Dorie Jackson (Francis Dunnery) and ace former Level 42 drummer Phil Gould, the band's melodic sensibilities, epic arrangements and love of historical subject matter draw inspiration from the likes of Big Big Train and Genesis.
Supertramp/Alive in England ....CD $16.99
Live archive release. Recorded during their "Crime of the Century" tour in London's Hammersmith Odeon, March 9, 1975 features the entire "Crime of the Century" album and some tracks from the then still-to-be-recorded "Crisis? What Crisis?" album making up the middle third of the concert. Crime of the Century was Supertramp's commercial breakthrough in many countries, most notably in the UK, Canada and Germany where it peaked in the Top 5 while also making the Top 20 in Australia and France. It was an improvement over their previous sales in the US, but still only peaked at No. 38, with the US hit being "Bloody Well Right." "School" was another popular track, particularly at album rock-oriented radio stations. The album was eventually certified Gold in the US in 1977 after the release of Even in the Quietest Moments... In Canada, it was eventually certified Diamond (sales of one million copies). The album was Supertramp's first to feature drummer Bob Siebenberg (at the time credited as Bob C. Benberg), brass and woodwind player John Helliwell, bassist Dougie Thomson, and co-producer Ken Scott. The album has received critical acclaim, including it's inclusion in Rolling Stone's "50 Greatest Prog Rock Albums of All Time."
Sparks/The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman [Deluxe Edition] ....CD $16.99
Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 2009 album from the veteran rock duo. The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman is the 22nd album by American rock group Sparks, released in August 2009. The duo's first work in the radio musical genre, the album is built around an imaginary visit to Hollywood by Swedish film director Ingmar Bergman in the mid-1950s. It's storyline focuses on the divides between European and American culture, between art and commerce. Unlike other Sparks albums, the work is conceived as a single piece, to be listened to as a whole, rather than a collection of stand-alone songs.
Godley & Creme/Frabjous Days: The Secret World of Godley & Creme 1967-1969 ....import CD $24.99
First-ever issue of stillborn 1969 studio album from pre- Hotlegs/10cc duo Godley and Creme during their days as Frabjoy and Runcible Spoon. Classic UK late '60s psychedelic/folk sound recorded at Advision Studios with support from future 10cc colleagues Graham Gouldman and Eric Stewart. In mid-1969, legendary British R&B/psychedelic enabler Giorgio Gomelsky signed two Manchester-based art students, renaming them Frabjoy and Runcible Spoon. Envisaging the pair as a British Simon and Garfunkel, Gomelsky recorded an LP with them for release on his Marmalade label. A pre-LP single appeared, but sadly the album's release was cancelled after Giorgio spent the rent and staged a disappearing act. 53 years later, Grapefruit Records is thrilled to host this tantalizing missing piece of the pre-10cc jigsaw puzzle. A hugely accomplished set, it incorporates impossibly fragile ballads like 'Chaplin House' and 'Today' alongside US West Coast-style rocker 'Cowboys and Indians' and the Beatles-ish 'It's the Best Seaside in the World.' 'Frabjous Days' adds Gouldman's sole Marmalade cut plus further late '60s material, including their early 1968 single as The Yellow Bellow Room Boom. Housed in a stylish, previously unpublished 1969 Marmalade promo photo of the pair, the fabulous 'Frabjous Days' is a digipack release with a 28-page booklet containing a new 6000 word essay and some extremely rare photos and memorabilia.
Miller Anderson/Bright City [Remastered & Expanded] ....import CD $21.99
From Esoteric comes the newly remastered and expanded edition of 'Bright City,' the classic solo album by guitarist and vocalist Miller Anderson. Remastered from the original master tapes and featuring an additional six bonus tracks previously unreleased on CD. Includes a session for BBC Radio One's Sounds of the '70s show recorded in September 1971. With restored original album artwork including an illustrated booklet with new essay. Miller Anderson is a highly respected musician who came to major prominence as vocalist and guitarist with the Keef Hartley Band upon their formation in 1968. Signing to Decca's Deram label, the band recorded a series of albums which embraced, jazz, blues and rock influences and enjoyed success as one of the great British bands of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Following the release of the album 'Overdog' in the Spring of 1971, Miller embarked on recording his first solo album, 'Bright City.' The album would see Anderson embrace folk influences alongside the more familiar styles associated with his work as part of the Hartley Band. The result was a fine and inspiring record.
The Tangent/Songs from the Hard Shoulder ....CD $16.99
The Tangent's 12th studio album, Songs from the Hard Shoulder, marks the band's 20th anniversary and sees Andy Tillison and company focusing almost entirely on their long format songs or "epics," with only one song being less than 16 minutes long. From a luscious and uplifting song about loneliness in covid lockdown, to a full on jazz/prog/canterbury fusion instrumental, to a darkly electronic story of a homeless woman with shades of Nine Inch Nails, Po90, Japan and Van Der Graaf lurking within to the 4 minute Motown-style track Wasted Soul, Songs from the Hard Shoulder showcases a band at ease with itself. Andy Tillison (Vocal/Keyboards), Jonas Reingold (Bass), Luke Machin (Guitar/Vocals), Steve Roberts (Drums) and Theo Travis (Sax & Flute).

Grateful Dead/Road Trips Vol. 1 No. 3 - Summer '71 ....2 CD Set $42.99
Hunter Thompson's oft-quoted adage "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro" has always been central to the Grateful Dead's ethos, and never more so than in the Summer of 1971. The departures of Tom Constanten and Mickey Hart, and the delicate health of Pigpen left the band with a lot that was, to quote the title of the Otis Redding tune that appears here, "Hard to Handle." Yet, just as the band embraced chaos in their improvisations, the Dead transcended the chaos of their personal and professional lives to embark on one of their most musically satisfying tours, which this two CD set captures with a disc each devoted to the 7/31/71 show at the Yale Bowl in New Haven and the 8/23/71 show at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. Many of these songs, like "Wharf Rat" and the covers of "Me and My Uncle" and "Big Railroad Blues" (a particularly rocking version), were about to premiere on the September 1971 double-LP Grateful Dead a.k.a. Skull and Roses, while "Sugaree" and "Bird Song" didn't come out till January of 1972 on Jerry Garcia's eponymous debut solo album, so this Trip provides the always fascinating, caught-on-the-fly look at the band integrating new material. And speaking of "Bird Song," its pairing with a 20-minute plus "Dark Star" is, simply, peak Dead, further evidence that at this point in time, the Grateful Dead was arguably the greatest live band in the world, a claim further bolstered by the medley featuring "The Other One." Blair Jackson's notes set the scene; recorded by Rex Jackson and mastered in HDCD sound by Jeffrey Norman. Never before available at music retail!

Zero/Naught Again ....2 CD Set $24.99
Live archive release. Zero was formed in the early 1980s by guitarist Steve Kimock and drummer Greg Anton after playing with Keith and Donna Godchaux's Heart of Gold Band with Quicksliver Messenger Service's John Cipollina. Various San Francisco Bay and international artists including Nicky Hopkins (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who) Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship), Vince Welnick (The Tubes, Grateful Dead), John Kahn (Jerry Garcia Band), and more played with the band. It seemed inevitable considering the Zero family tree, that Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter added lyrics to their instrumentals. It was a magic ingredient and Zero took off. After nine albums and over 1,300 shows, Zero was more than a conglomerate of talented musicians, they were a San Francisco institution. Now Zero is releasing a live performance recorded at The Great American Music Hall in 1992. Naught Again is newly mixed by Emmy-nominated Brian Risner from the original multi-track tapes recorded by Dan Healy and Don Pearson (Grateful Dead). An evening from the past ushers in a new era for Zero. Naught Again is a music treasure trove, featuring originals, as well as covers from The Who, Jimi Hendrix, and so much more.

Says Watanabe of his first album in an interview with Innerviews, "It reflects a modal approach I was seeking during that era. The band members were excellent, including drummer Motohiko Hino, bassist Yoshio Suzuki and keyboardist Hideo Ichikawa. It's the reason why the album accomplished something. When I listen back to the album now, it's not a mature statement, but it's a satisfying document of a recording by a 17-year-old guitarist."

Available on CD for the first time! Mystery Mr. Ra, When Spaceships Appear (Ra To The Rescue Ch. 1), Back Alley Blues (Fragile Emotion Blues), Drummerlistics, Children Of The Sun, Cosmo-Party Blues, Space Shuttle (Ra To The Rescue Ch. 2), Fate In A Pleasant Mood, They Plan To Leave When Lights Are Dark (Back Alley Blues Alternate).

Stephen Thelen & Jan-Peter Schwalm/Transneptunian Planets ....CD $17.99
The demotion of Pluto remains a topic of controversy more than a decade and a half later, but the now dwarf planet is hardly alone way out on the fringes of our Solar System. On their first collaboration, Transneptunian Planets, electro-acoustic composer J. Peter Schwalm and guitarist/composer/mathematician Stephan Thelen journey beyond the beyond to draw inspiration from the outer limits of the cosmos. Due out via RareNoiseRecords, Transneptunian Planets further evolves the already innovative body of work that both Schwalm and Thelen have created for the label. Schwalm's relationship with RareNoise began in 2016 with the release of his entrancing album The Beauty of Disaster, followed by the sound sculptures of 2018's How We Fall and continued through collaborations with electro-jazz trio Chat Noir, Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen and guitarist Markus Reuter. Thelen first came to RareNoise in 2018 with Vortex, which combined his minimalist quartet Sonar with the expansive guitarist David Torn. Two more meetings, Tranceportation Volume 1 and Volume 2, followed over the next two years. Under his own name, Thelen released World Dialogue in late 2020, collecting a decade's worth of his contemporary classical compositions performed by the renowned Kronos Quartet and Al Pari Quartet. Transneptunian Planets was built on a back and forth communication between the two composers, with each given complete freedom to build on, transform or mutate the other's contribution. The music is also enriched by contributions from Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset and British bassist Tim Harries, both regular collaborators of Schwalm's, and Swiss drummer Manuel Pasquinelli, Thelen's bandmate in Sonar.

The composition was originally written to be performed with German visual artist Gerhard Richter and Corinna Belz's film Moving Picture (946-3).
John Zorn/A Garden of Forking Paths ....CD $18.99
This is the fifth CD of new music written expressly for the all-star guitar trio of Bill Frisell, Julian Lage and Gyan Riley. Here Zorn draws inspiration from the enigmatic short stories of Argentine philosopher/writer Jorge Luis Borges. Like a collection of short stories, each composition is a miniature world in itself and touches on philosophy and mysticism as well as music. Blending folk, classical, jazz, bluegrass, world music and more, this is truly music of the 21st century-unclassifiable and unique. Filled with telepathic interplay and surprising compositional twists and turns, the music is achingly beautiful and intensely evocative. Another gorgeous creation from downtown alchemist John Zorn and this incredible trio of musical masters!

Gentle Giant/Civilian [Expanded] ....CD $16.99
From Alucard Records comes Gentle Giant's last album 'Civilian,' originally released in the spring of 1980 a little over a decade after the band's formation and which, like all their albums, defied categorization. 'Civilian' was the final stage in the Giant's move toward a more concise and direct approach while still maintaining it's musical integrity. It was unique among their albums in that the material was written and recorded in North America. The band recruited Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick to man the console at Sound City and Bijou Studios in Hollywood to record this final album. What emerged from these sessions was a comparatively straightforward high-energy rock album, with hook laden songs and clever choruses. Despite having paired down earlier characteristic elements, Gentle Giant retained their quintessential brilliant musicianship moving forward into the new decade. As a bonus on this CD, a rare previously unissued track is included. 'Heroes No More' was recorded during the 'Civilian' sessions but failed to appear only because of the need to keep running times down on the old vinyl format. Remastered, it is a fantastic addition to the album. 'Civilian' was the last in a line of strikingly original albums, each with it's own character, but each recorded with the same care and attention to detail. Gentle Giant were a unique proposition, five talented musicians with the ability to blend widely differing musical traditions into a coherent whole. Decades after the initial release of "Civilian' fans of the band old and new have come to realize what an incredibly strong and superbly written and produced album Civilian really was. It is with this knowledge that we are proud to re-release the final album of a truly innovative and original band.
Colosseum/Restoration ....import CD $27.99
From Repertoire comes the first studio album from the new Colosseum line-up featuring Chris Farlowe, Clem Clempson and Mark Clarke together with new members Kim Nishikawara (saxophone), Nick Steed (Keyboards) and Malcolm Mortimore (drums). Recorded in London and New York during 2021 and produced by Clem Clempson and Mark Clarke, Restoration comprises ten brand new tracks. Originally formed in 1968 by ex-New Jazz Orchestra members Jon Hiseman (drums), Dick Heckstall-Smith (saxophones) and Dave Greenslade (keyboards), Colosseum were at the forefront of the jazz/prog rock vanguard. Hugely innovative and dynamic live, the band broke up in 1971, only to reform in 1994 for a series of tours and new albums which lasted into the 2000s. Fast forward to 2022 and Colosseum will be on the road again with a new line-up comprising original frontman Chris Farlowe, guitarist Clem Clempson and bassist Mark Clarke. Joining on Hammond organ, piano, synths and vocals is Nick Steed, keyboard wizard and songwriter whose previous credits include Van Morrison, PP Arnold, Chris Farlowe and Sonja Kristina. One of Canada's top saxophone players, Kim Nishikawara has been in great demand as a blues/jazz saxophonist, working with Jack Bruce, Alan Price, Maggie Bell and Chris Farlowe. Kim is thrilled to be stepping into the role formerly held by one of his great heroes, Dick Heckstall-Smith. Completing the new line-up on drums is Malcolm Mortimore, whose drumming style has been described as "free, quirky and complex," and who was a member of legendary prog band Gentle Giant, as well as playing with Arthur Brown, Van Morrison and many jazz legends including Barney Kessel, Charlie Byrd, Buddy Tate and Oliver Jones.
Colosseum/Bread & Circuses ....import CD $29.99
Colosseum/Tomorrow's Blues ....import CD $29.99
Colosseum/Time on Our Side ....import CD $29.99
Repertoire reissues to coincide with the new album release. Following on the heels of their 1994 reunion tour, 1997 heralded the band's return to studio recording after a twenty-seven-year hiatus. Marking a departure from their prog rock roots, Bread & Circuses is Colosseum in solid jazz/blues/rock fusion mode. Expect funky, pumping bass (Mark Clarke) and drums (Jon Hiseman), overlaid with Clem Clempson's sinewy guitar and Chris Farlowe's take-no-prisoners vocals. Older and wiser, the band nonetheless keep things tight producing superbly constructed songs. Released in 2003, Tomorrow's Blues was Colosseum's penultimate studio album and, sadly, the last to feature original member saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith. Very much a blues/rock album as the title track suggests, Chris Farlowe's distinctive vocals feature to great e!ect while two standout instrumentals penned by Dave Greenslade underscore the sextet's impeccable playing throughout. Expect complex bass lines, soulful organ and searing guitars. In contrast to it's predecessor, Time on Our Side presents a much broader musical sweep: deeper grooves, shifting themes and expansive solos. Featuring superb horn work from Barbara Thompson, the opening track 'Safe As Houses' sets the bar high, while 'City Of Love' is an undoubted highlight. 'Blues to Music,' a duet between Chris Farlowe and Ana Gracey, showcases the breadth of band's reach. Never afraid to walk a creative tightrope, Colosseum excel at blurring musical landscapes seeking, in the words of Jon Hiseman, "rocky, jazzy rhythms, vocals with intelligent words, improvised solos.

Tangerine Dream/Strange Behavior [Original Soundtrack] ....CD $16.99
BSX Records, presents the original motion picture soundtrack release of Strange Behavior (aka Dead Kids 1981) with music composed by Tangerine Dream. Founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream is a ground-breaking musical act that veered away from the influence of traditional Anglo-American rock/pop and instead relied upon hypnotic rhythms, sustained drones, musique concrete, tape-music looping techniques, and the proliferation of early synthesizers. Strange Behavior was produced early in their career, following the success of their scores for Sorcerer in 1977 and Thief also in 1981. The band included the classic lineup of Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, and Johannes Schmoelling. After completing Strange Behavior, Tangerine Dream would continue to score many iconic Hollywood pictures including Risky Business, The Keep, Firestarter, Red Heat, Vision Quest, Legend, Near Dark and Three O'Clock High. And yet somehow, their score for Strange Behavior never got a soundtrack release. Until now.

Magma has been one of France's most influential bands since their founding in 1969. They released their fifth studio album Kohntarkosz in 1974, which set them off in a completely new musical direction. The band used a more restrained approach, which resulted in every hit seeming to weight twenty tons by contrast. The result is a mysterious atmosphere which holds the listener in awe. For this recording, and in particular the track 'Coltrane Sundia,' the band used John Coltrane as the main inspiration, creating a vibrant tribute. Kohntarkosz is housed in a gatefold sleeve and is available as a limited edition of 2000 individually numbered copies on yellow & red marbled vinyl.

Released as an expanded deluxe CD + DVD (NTSC 0), the live album originally peaked at #22 in the UK Top 40 Album Chart in 1980 and also spent an entire year in the Independent Album Chart, earning a Silver sales certification. The recorded gig took place on 17 June 1980 at the legendary Club Lafayette, Wolverhampton where Sex Pistols, Led Zeppelin and Stevie Wonder all performed. The gig was recorded on the Rolling Stones' Mobile Recording Unit and has been remastered from the original master tapes by Nick Watson. With sleevenotes by Craig Astley, Toyah's official archivist who also compiled the package, the CD + DVD set finally restores the full concert set list and pairs the live album with a DVD of the 1980 television documentary Toyah, released on disc for the first time ever. Directed by Graham Moore and originally broadcast by the ATV (former name for ITV) network on 17 November 1980, it followed Toyah for over half a year capturing band rehearsals, studio recording sessions, play rehearsals and in her then-home, the notorious Battersea warehouse 'Mayhem.' The CD + DVD features the previously unreleased songs 'She,' a reprise of 'Danced' and an unedited complete version of 'Neon Womb' which originally faded early as the B-Side of live single 'Danced.' The CD + DVD contains a fully illustrated 24-page booklet featuring an introductory note from Toyah alongside rare and unseen photography of Toyah and the band line-up which disbanded before this album's original release. The documentary features promo-style video footage for the songs 'Blue Meanings' and 'Neon Womb' alongside concert footage of 'Danced,' 'Insects' and 'Ieya' as heard on the live album.

The title track from the album is the first single to be released in February. Frontman Bruce Soord comments 'Gavin went through the entire back catalogue and picked out 'Give it Back.' When I heard what Gavin was doing, it inspired me to completely re-record & re-work the entire piece, it feels like a completely new song & it's already part of our live set.'
Faust/Punkt ....import CD $19.99
The band called it 5½, fans referred to it as the "Munich Album" and for almost fifty years it's been the missing chapter in Faustian mythology. Now for the first time, the German iconoclasts' previously unreleased fifth album sees the light of day as Punkt. Not only does this title place a bold full stop after the final recording by the group's seminal line up of Peron, Irmler, Sosna, Wusthoff and Diermaier, but it also references the unflinching anarchism of German rock's ultimate outsiders. Punkt is Faust at their most unhindered, untethered and unstoppable.
Can/Out of Reach ....CD $13.99
Can/Can ....CD $13.99

Features all seven original tracks and original artwork. Can is the tenth studio album by experimental rock band Can, released in 1979. Former bassist Holger Czukay's involvement with this album was limited to tape editing. It was Can's last album before the reunion album Rite Time, ten years later, and was released after the band's break-up.
Alex Carpani/Microcosm ....import CD $29.99
Microcosm is an album about the enormous potential of the mind, which is able to create, destroy, love, suffer, remember, forget, isolate itself from everything, live among the people, change its perspective, change its mind, put ideas to good use, cancel distances, create the most abysmal distances, resist everything, give in to nothing, grow, learn, reshape, regress, dissolve, create impossible worlds and make the impossible possible. The mind, in other words, is a world in itself, a microcosm in which lives all that we are, what we perceive of the outside and what the world perceives about us. Musically speaking Microcosm is the meeting point between various genres and influences: progressive, jazz-rock, symphonic rock. The album has been conceived as a heterogeneous fresco with a multifaceted soul. It's a project that has involved prestigious musicians of the international rock scene, including David Cross (King Crimson), Jon Davison (Yes, Glass Hammer), David Jackson (Van der Graaf Generator), Theo Travis (Gong, Soft Machine, Fripp), as well as top level musicians of the Italian scene Bruno Farinelli, Andrea Torresani, Davide Rinaldi and Emiliano Fantuzzi. The album contains a modern and suggestive version of Starless by King Crimson.

Alongside the remix of the original recordings, a second companion CD features 48 minutes of material, including a new 2020 studio recording of the title track, preceded by a previously unreleased brass prelude. Also included is the Songs From The Shoreline suite, which was planned for the album's original release in 2009. For this re-issue, in 2020 the band completely re-recorded 'Victorian Brickwork,' which segues into 'Fat Billy Shouts Mine' (which has to date only been available on the Far Skies, Deep Time EP). The final track on the second disc is 'Brew and Burgh,' a newly composed song written by BBT founder and bassist Greg Spawton specifically as a companion piece for this re-issue of the album. In addition, original album artist Jim Trainer has painted some new images for an expanded booklet. Grand Tour, the penultimate album (2019) by the successful British band Big Big Train is now officially available again. Neo-progressive meets art rock. Graham Nash/Live: Songs for Beginners & Wild Tales ....CD $18.99
Graham Nash: Live is a unique project on which Nash revisits his first two classic solo albums, Songs for Beginners and Wild Tales, recorded live in concert. The live albums were recorded in 2019, each in their entirety with their songs in familiar sequence. Nash was joined on stage by a seven-piece band led by his longtime collaborators, Shane Fontayne (guitar and vocals) and Todd Caldwell (keyboards and vocals). The album was mixed by Kevin Killen and mastered by Bob Ludwig. An extraordinary Grammy winning renaissance artist - and self-described "simple man" - Nash was inducted twice into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, for his work with CSN and his work as a solo artist, beginning with these two landmark albums, Songs for Beginners and Wild Tales. Nash's lifelong commitment to his work is unwavering. His inspiration is simple: "All the things we stood for, that love is better than hatred, that peace is better than war, that we have to take care of our fellow human beings, because that's all we have on this planet - those things are still true today. I need to know that I've brought something into the world that was positive and not negative."
Allman Brothers Band/Wipe the Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas [Live] ....import CD $20.99
'Wipe The Windows'... was originally released as a 2-LP set in 1976 and recorded in 1972, 1973 & 1975 after the band lost their two founding members Duane Allman (1971) and Berry Oakley (1972) both in a motorcycle accident (nearly on the same spot!) in Macon, Georgia. Five of the ten tracks on this live collection are drawn from their best-selling 1972 album 'Brothers & Sisters.' These were the peak years for The Allman Brothers Band. A special mention must go to guitarist Dickey Betts' composition "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed." In this 17 minutes long version with less reliance on the duel guitar playing, but more emphasis on the swing of the piece. Chuck Leavell's piano work is great with Dickey proving to be considered among the best lead-guitar players of all-time.

Keith Jarrett/The Art of Improvisation [Documentary]
Keith Jarrett/The Art of Improvisation [Documentary] ....DVD $25.99
Keith Jarrett is one of the few jazz superstars whose concerts sell out almost immediately, wherever he plays. Keith is much more than just a jazz musician. Through an exploration of his life and work, and close encounters with the man himself, this documentary offers an exceptional opportunity to examine the contrasting worlds of jazz and classical music. At the same time it is a fascinating and analytical portrait of a remarkable musician whose interests and influences range from jazz, ethnic and folk music, to Bach, Mozart, Stravinsky and Samuel Barber. The film explores, through a collage of interviews and performance, the complete range of Keith Jarrett's life and work. Great archive material is interweaved with original and richly detailed filmed interviews, not only with Keith himself, but with all the musicians he has played with over the years, as well as with members of his family, tour managers and other close musical and recording associates. "Keith Jarrett - The Art of Improvisation" - produced and directed by Mike Dibb, in collaboration with Jarrett's biographer Ian Carr - is the first ever major documentary about Keith Jarrett, made with the full co-operation of Jarrett himself.

Buddy Miles/Live ....import 2 CD Set $26.99
CD reissue. Buddy Miles was not only a great soul singer and all-around music man, he was also one of the best drummers ("The Baddest of the Bad") of an era. He was a founder member of the Electric Flag and played the drums on Jimi Hendrix best-selling album Electric Ladyland. Live is a tour de force of funk drenched rock and soul. The intro is a manic reading of "Joe Tex" and "Take It Off Him and Put It on Me" followed by a killer version of Neil Young's "Down by the River." The album closes with a rousing reading of "Them Changes" and a funky "We Got to Live Together," almost unrecognizable from the earlier version that Miles recorded with Hendrix.
Steven Brown/El Hombre Invisible ....CD $15.99
For his first solo album since the early '90s, Tuxedomoon's co-front man delivers a hypnotic collection of songs, a song cycle of sorts, which draws from his life in Mexico, where he's been residing for many years now. El Hombre Invisible is centered around Steven's emblematic vocals, melodies & lyrics, set in an intimate environment, with sparse elegant, arrangements for guitar, bass, occasional horns, and of course Mr Brown's trademark piano & saxophone playing. The atmosphere and lyrics of the songs reflect some of the experiences and impressions gathered in the course of these latest 28 years, which have included earthquakes, a kidnapping, rubbing shoulders with the Zapatistas in Chiapas, being confronted with the still omnipresent traces of the Spanish conquest five centuries ago (and the effects of "The Most Dangerous Book it The World," which guided the conquistadores' steps), Steven's years of working as a cultural activist, and his enduring love for the general beauty of the nature and the people in his new hometown of Oaxaca. El Hombre Invisible was recorded in Oaxaca with local musicians, including Lila Downs, who sings a duet with Steven on the song Familias Ricas. Plus a couple of external guests: Tuxedomoon's Luc van Lieshout on trumpet, and Chris Haskett (ex-Rollins Band) on guitar. The songs were mixed in Berlin by Steven's old friend and musical associate Nikolas Klau.
Stealing Sheep & The Radiophonic Workshop/La Planete Sauvage ....CD $17.99
Rene Laloux's celebrated 1973 sci-fi animation 'La Planete Sauvage (Fantastic Planet),' is overhauled with a re-imagined soundtrack by electronic modernists Stealing Sheep and legendary sound innovators The Radiophonic Workshop. This exclusive release is part of Fire Records' re-imagined score series. 'No institution has had a greater impact on the development of electronic music than the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.' - The Vinyl Factory. It's a real pre-Avatar conundrum that Stealing Sheep, with the help of Bob Earland, Dick Mills and Roger Limb from the Radiophonic Workshop, unravel. Creating an ethereal excursion that's narrated by Roger Limb; like a futuristic Martin Denny, or Dr Who gone ambient techno, with a hint of Forbidden Planet 50 years on. It's an analogue swirl set in an off-world paradise; a field recording from the future. This is a creative, generation-spanning, union brought together to score this unique cult film. A must for fans of psyche electronica and Stealing Sheep's formidable 'Big Wows' album. 'Stealing Sheep devour a broad range of styles, incorporating everything from the dark dance-pop of Grace Jones to the experimentations of Radiophonic Workshop pioneer Delia Derbyshire and John Carpenter soundtracks.' - The Guardian. 'La Planete Sauvage' is a thing of ambient beauty punctuated with electronic earworms that switches from intensely ominous to otherworldly dream like moments.
Third Ear Band/Songs from the Hydrogen Jukebox + Live ....import 2 CD Set $22.99
The Third Ear Band first arrived on the scene in the mid '60s as part of the whole underground movement. They were a favourite at clubs such as UFO and The Middle Earth and they also opened The Rolling Stones' free concert in Hyde Park on 5th July 1969. As an experimental band using violins, oboe, cello, viola, and hand percussion instruments they didn't play songs as such, but improvised music drawing on Eastern raga forms, and European folk with experimental and medieval influences creating extended instrumental pieces somewhat in the manner of some of Terry Riley's work best described as Electric Acid Raga. The band reformed in the late '80s still led by Glen Sweeney and continued to record up until the late '90s. This 2 CD set features the album Songs from The Hydrogen Jukebox (the original name of the band stolen from Allen Ginsberg) along with a live recording originally released in 1996.
Richard Thompson/Music from Grizzly Man [Original Soundtrack] ....CD $16.99
Richard Thompson's score for Grizzly Man - Werner Herzog's 2005 documentary film of real life and death in the Alaskan wilderness - is one of the best-kept secrets in the British guitarist's epic canon: an instrumental masterpiece disguised as a movie soundtrack. Recorded over two days as Thompson played live in the studio to Herzog's footage - mostly alone, at times in chamber settings with cello, piano and percussion - these tenderly detailed melodies and quietly visceral improvisations are cinema in their own right, rendered with pictorial instinct and the dazzling technique forged in Thompson's lifelong passage through traditional folk, psychedelia, North African modes and intensely personal songwriting. Here is Thompson at his natural best - finger-picking dance; snake-curl twang and singing-wire harmonics - in a solo clarity that runs from jig-like joy to deep-note meditation, the "Main Title" blues march with it's echoes of Fairport Convention's "Sloth" to the long night of "Treadwell No More," a harrowing darkness in slicing treble and tremolo shiver. Produced by guitarist Henry Kaiser, Grizzly Man is a record of powerful solitude - as bold and majestic as the land in Herzog's film; as intimate as prayer - and essential Richard Thompson.

Freak Out! My Life with Frank Zappa: Laurel Canyon 1968 - 1971 ....Book $19.99
'Only the most ardent Zappaphile or various Mothers of Invention and hangers-on who made up the freak show surrounding Frank Zappa's Laurel Canyon log cabin would recognize the name of Pauline Butcher. Even so, Freak Out! gives the onetime English secretary and part-time modeling instructor the opportunity to tell her insider's view of the head Mother, one that's revelatory and keenly perceptive. In 1967, Zappa ordered a typist up to his London hotel room, and when Butcher arrived, they hit it off to such an extent that eventually he offered her a job as his personal secretary. She accepted, moved to Los Angeles, and was promptly thrown into madness that from the distance of time seems irresistible. With a backdrop of the chaotic late 1960s extending into 1972, Butcher battles Zappa's wife Gail, develops interesting friendships with musician Ian Underwood and album artist Cal Schenkel, wrangles the GTO's (an all-girl act produced by Zappa), and meets a variety of eccentrics and rock stars: Tiny Tim, Captain Beefheart, Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck and members of Pink Floyd. Offering deeply personal glimpses of Zappa, Butcher's coming-of-age story is so captivating and vividly told that many will be surprised to discover it's her first book.' - The Austin Chronicle
