Acadia - Three original LP's released as a two CD set. Pierre Moerlen rejoined Gong as co leader with original member and saxophonist Didier Malherbe in 1975. RPM - A fascinating enigma of the San Francisco psychedelic scene, Valente is most famed as the author of the song 'Get Together.' This definitive '60s love-and-peace anthem was recorded on the Jefferson Airplane's first album, and taken into the Top Ten by the Youngbloods. Valente was an original member of Quicksilver Messenger Service, and his one off solo single in 1964, a folk pop song called Birdses became the inspiration for Gene Clark to name his new band the Birdses, amended of course, to the Byrds, because of his admiration for Valente's single. In 1968, following a spell in jail for drug possession, he got a deal with Epic Records, recording an album produced by Bob Johnston (most famous for overseeing much of Bob Dylan's classic '60s output). It was idiosyncratic even within the psychedelic community. Valente sang elliptical, stream-of-consciousness hippyisms without much in the way of narrative, beginning, or end, but with an evocative lyricism. The accompaniment is mostly stripped down guitar playing pleasingly haunting minor folk-jazz acoustic chords, swelled by wads of studio reverb.

Rev-Ola - Originally planned as a Dave Mason solo album, it is certainly one of his finest and coupling him with Cass Elliot was an utter stroke of genius, as she goes from being "just" producer and backing vocalist to being the shining guest star of the album. Cass provides excellent background vocals on her non-lead songs alongside sister Leah Kunkel making up an impressive harmony stack. The album is propelled by Mason's superb songwriting talents and tracks such as 'On and On,' 'Walk to the Point,' and several others bear this out. His guitar playing is some of his finest recorded work, especially the epic 'Glittering Facade,' where he layers acoustic and electric guitars to a scintillating effect. A highly underrated album, but in the end, one of the finest of the 1970s.

Ork - A truly Classic Rock album that has stood the test of time. With a blend of classic blues based rock music fused with soul, funk and occasional heavier elements it marks the crowning glory of Trapeze. Recorded in 1970 just as the band changed from being a five piece to becoming a power trio, with Glenn Hughes, Mel Galley and Dave Holland. With hindsight you could say rather like one of their influences Cream, Trapeze were something of a budding super group with Hughes later joining Deep Purple, Galley joining Whitesnake and Holland joining Judas Priest. Medusa the album was written by the band members and produced by John Lodge, of the Moody Blues, and released on the Moodie's own Threshold label. This reissue has been digitally re-mastered and the package features a personal note from Glenn Hughes, plus pics and reminiscences from the Deep Purple Appreciation Society.

They made the French space synth classic '(Do You Have) The Force,' which was heavily influenced by the recent release of the Star Wars film. Ork - From the ashes of Apple Music Publishing band The U came Bachdenkel, who in 1969 relocated from Birmingham to France. During their time in France a number of recording sessions were undertaken, an early single resulted (Through The Eyes Of A Child), and eventually an LPs worth of material collected. The song Translation was written following an association with choreographer Graziella Martinez (who had previously worked with The Soft Machine) working on a ballet of the same title. Already experimenting with mixing their influences from Beatles psych era, Joni Mitchell style songs, Eastern and Hippie philosophies, Bachdenkel were further tempted by visiting musicians to Paris such as avant garde jazz artists The Art Ensemble of Chicago and Anthony Braxton. The result is magnificent, great songs with beautiful and unusual lyrics, epic music , warm vocals, and truly captivating listening experience.
